Why do they refer to Paulus as a respected lawyer when everyone else thought he
was a POS?

(These are things I ask myself) quietly Smile

Well, that's probably a rethorical question, but I'm going to chime in with my 2 cents here (too excited about the POS confessing)  IMO....whoever is writing the piece doesn't know Paulus and they pull info from past pieces to flesh out their article.  As Aruba lied and put out PR that Paulus was tantamount to a God on their little island, most everthing previously printed about Paulus states that he was a respected lawyer, a judge in trainging, etc.

IBE - almost missed you.  I am really, really curious as to why she went to his room in the first place - she did not appear to want to be there, IMO.

Nite all!
Me too.  Although I'ma  little confused about this "going to his room to pay money he lost to her" theory.  In any Poker Tournament, there is a buy-in to play.  The winnings are already paid by each player who enters the tourney...so any money he would have lost to her would have already been collected by the Casino at the point of registration.  He would have no reason to retrievemoney he lost to her in his room...

I think she was drugged, and was tricked into going into his room so he could sexually assualt her. That doesn't even make sense in my theory though.  She wa found in her underwear and t-shirt, correct?  Maybe they did have sex, and he went out for coffee and breakfast (bread) for ther both of the.  And, my theory is the same as what's being reported.  H returned to find her using his laptop, and he became enraged at his loss of control...

Laten we niet te vroeg juichen - Let's not cheer to early as we say in Dutch

This is not a victory:
- Not premeditated so not murder but manslaughter.
- Not rob as motive so not life in prison

Conclusion: he’s hoping for a less than ten year conviction in a comfortable Dutch prison.

Eeewwwww!  Why does that have such a ring of truth to it?!?!?!

Can't happen, can't happen....this freak of nature just can't be let to outsmart the system...the US system needs to get him for taking the life of an American!

He needs to be put away forever, he cannot control himself, anyone and anything can set him off.  To let him go would be like playing Russian roulette with the world.

Maybe.  But, what's still puzzling me (sorry for the pun) is why no one heard anything in the adjacent rooms?  Here's a woman being beaten to death in the room next to you, but an act that violent doesn't produce any sound?  If I have the TV up too loud in the livingroom my wife yells at me to turn it down.  Again, why no noise (or complainst about it)?  Strange...

The rooms had tile walls, and it looked like this room was on the end (last room before the security camera).  It may be that no one could hear.

I thought someone heard them arguing twice.

Bearly - I read that too.

Here are the screen shots from NG 6/7/10 for anybody who missed them.

Tomorrow we have the press conference and will find out a few things at last.

Remember just because Joran says something does not mean the Peruvian police believe it.  And it's the judges that count.

Looking forward to the press conference.

Niters, all!
4 am

Does that mean 5:00 a.m. Eastern time?

Yes - it is 2:33 am in Peru right now, 3:33 am Eastern time..
Ok, so if it's 12:35am where I am right now, what time (my time) is this press conference?

If I remember correctly, Stephany, had been told about Joran's past by her sister before the poker game.

If so, why did she go to his room, knowing that he might be a potential killer?

Did he say he'd have the money he owed her from the poker game in a room safe?
Why didn't she wait in the hotel lobby to get the money?

Was she drugged?

iMO I don't believe his confession.

Thank you Monkey Family for your Good Works.  Love, IBE

IBE

That's what I keep wondering...WHY...did she go to his room.  I, too, heard that she had been told about Joran by her sister.  So...WHY?

That's why I think she was dead shortly after entering his room.  I can't believe a smart girl like her would willingly go to his room to hang out for hours.

“However, he still has to prove that Flores actually used his computer during that time,” pointed out Amoretti to El Comercio.

http://www.livinginperu.com/news/12396

They should be able to do that via the timeline that he was out, if not by prints on the laptop (I know you know this and was just pointing out the reference)
I think this theory makes perfect sense to me.  He left to go get them both coffee...she's in nthe room alone...he returns to find her on his laptop...he goes nuts...kills her in a fit of rage...showers and changes clothes...leaves the oom alone to flee to Chile.  Open and shut to me.  She most likely found files on his desktop regarding the extortion plot and whatnot.  But more then  that, he's a control freks.  Once out of it, he loses all sense to sanity and becomes violent.  Same thing most likely happened to natalee...

It does seems to make sense; however, I just can't believe the two of them spent all that time in Joran's room...hours...just don't believe that happened.

I can't believe that Stephany just went to Joran's room to hang out for hours...there was a reason...collect money he owed her...maybe he used the ruse of telling her he would sell her his computer...a "reason".  Not just to hang out over-night.

Why the roofies?

He admitted to the crime stating she was using his computer about being involved in NH's death.

Who here buys that as the reason why he killed her?

I mean almost every one would recognize him and would figure that he was the suspect in Natalee's disappearance and death.

What really must have been on his laptop? There must have been damning stuff like trafficking and much more than merely references to NH.

He's lying even while he's confessing....what's new.

He went to get coffee after she was dead.  He knew the cameras were there and set the "coffee" thing up for just in case he was caught.  IMO, she was probably dead within the first 15 -30 minutes of entering Joran's room.

Puzzler - didn't the reports say there was coffee on the floor, suggesting that she died after he returned with the coffee?

IMO the coffee could have spilled on the floor after she was dead.

The only real way to know if she was alive when he brought the coffee is if forensics determines there's coffee in the stomach contents.

Could be.  Or it could be that there is no coffee in her stomach but she was alive after he brought it - but she just didn't drink any.

You're right...just surmising that the only way to know for "sure" would be if coffee was in the stomach contents.

With Joran, what we can't think of is more likely what happened. Smile

Why did he feel the need to pull her pants off?

Maybe that is the laptop he is talking about.  He did not need to drug her to sit up and talk.

He is a ticking timebomb.  I hope he tells us where Natalee is before he goes off.

xxx - I heard $10K cash and then the $15K wire transfer also.  I'd definitely give up some years in exchange for information on Natalee's whereabouts.  I don't think hell make it in prison anyway. Rob called him a marshmallow Smile

Klaas called him toast,
Rob called him a marshmallow,
Looks like he is gonna be a S'more.

At least the blood won't turn to chocolate in Peru....

Can you believe all the spit he told and they wanted Beth to accept it and go home?  Breaks my heart all over again.

I think she thought she was safe because she's a lesbian (as stated by her ex-girlfriend) and a lot of the Natalee-reports were about rape.
So I think she thought that Joran wouldn't hurt her (sexually).

Because they have not been with Natalee and her case as long as we have.  It's news on the fly.  Three...two...one...roll....

Or, because he was respected by Renfro and she is the island spokesperson.

Question:  it's reported that neither Joran nor Stephany were signed up for the poker tournament.  So, if they were just playing poker and he lost a lot of money to her, should he have had the money upfront or would that create a possiblity for going to his room for the money...maybe under the guise of wiring money from his account to her account?  TIA

She was an outted lesbian...why would she stay in his room if he left her to go get coffee?

The whereabouts of Natalee is his ace in the hole. He will hold on to that information for as long as he can....as long as he thinks it is useful to him. He has gotten a lot of mileage out of keeping the truth away from her family. He has enjoyed having the power to hurt her loved ones, and he has also enjoyed all the attention from the media and the Joran groupies. I believe he will use Natalee to the bitter end....just like Ted Bundy did with the information about his victims. LE never did get all the details they sought before Ted was executed. Ted played with them for a while and tried to use information to buy himself more time. I think Joran may try to do the same thing. I don't think he'll ever tell the full story about either one of these murders. He will be self-serving until he takes his very last breath because he is a psychopath.

Hi IBE!

Stephany's cousin told his friend about Natalee, if you listen to the tape where he says it, that is what he says, some ijot reporter transcribed it wrong and well, there you go.
