Some others estimate that the proceedings against Van der Sloot will take a long time and meanwhile, the accused will have to pass in a local jail. "What I do not know is that here in Peru you are not innocent until proven that it is."

ElaineS had been going to Aruba a few times a year for many many years.  She has good friends in Aruba and it truly is like her 2nd home.  She has realized for some time that Joran was guilty and has been fed up with the lies of Renfro and other in an attempt to make Joran look like he's innocent.

     Rather, I suspect that Joran's intention was probably rape and/or robbery.  First, the drug Rohypnol was reportedly found in the girl's car, abandoned at some distance from the hotel -- consistent with a drug-assisted sexual assault.  Second, the girl had reportedly won a considerable amount of money at the casino where she encountered Joran, making her an especially attractive target for a man, like Joran, in dire need of cash.  He could have his way with her AND be so much the richer for having done so.

It suggests of course that any young woman alone with Joran van der Sloot is in a very high risk category.  Perhaps a revisit of the previous allegations made by 3-4 young women about being assaulted by a younger goon when on Aruba would be especially enlightening, in view of the recent developments.

Assuming the videotaped "confession" made by Peter de Vries, the one in which the goon mimics a convulsing and dying Natalee, was "nearly true" -- I long ago thought that jvds and "the pimps" would have altered their modus, and lightened up on the dosages delivered to their targeted victims.  And since they are self-taught low achievers, the variability of their handiwork probably ranged from fatal overdose to no effect observed.  Stefany may well be an example of the latter.

Premeditated?  If not, the calendared anniversary killing is certainly a one-in-a-million coincidence. 

Maybe the goon just intended to perform an anniversary rape, instead.

Very good post.  Is a baseball bat the trademark of this serial murderer?  I do recall there was a serial murderer, I think, in St. Marteen, that had the same MO.  Used a baseball bat to dispose of any ungrateful women.

Last night I dug up an article that stated Stephany was found fully clothed wearing a shirt, coat and bathing suit.  These clothes are totally different than what we see her wearing as she enters the room.  I am now wondering if she was wearing the clothing she was found in under the guise of taking modeling pictures or similar or if he staged her in these clothes so he could take his own sick and twisted pictures of her while she was drugged?

I recall reading she had on a polo shirtdress and panties.

Joran Van Der Sloot "a serial murderer?

Why would you need to leave your passport at the front desk?  I've never heard of that. Doesn't make sense.
