Video of Joran van der Sloot in police custody in Peru (Part 1 of 3)

http://www.youtube.com/v/7UkxOTRoZho&hl=en_GB&fs=1&

OMG, the red hair in this one just kills me. Instead of blending in, he sure sticks out. I wonder how far he went with it? Do you think the shutters match the roof?

CBS/42 Birmingham had Jossy on by phone.

Jossy said that Aruba had enough evidence to prosecute but failed to do so.
Two new searches are planned. One at the bird sanctuary and one at the Monserrat Pond.
He said that Deepak and Satish should be very worried. Talk is that Joran will bargin for
a better prison in Peru by giving up information on the Holloway case.

Then Jug was on and said that he was sure that Deepak knew what happened.
He was not sure about Satish.

If I were Deepak and Satish I would throw Joran under the bus right now and tell everything they know. Blame him and Paulus for everything.

If I were Deepak and Satish I would have already been in touch with the FBI trying to play "lets make a deal" BEFORE are thrown to the wolves by Joran. He will try to put the blame on them for Natalie. If they wait until he squeals on them it will be too late. The only hope they have is to get the FBI involved fast.

Nah, at this point, Joran can't throw anyone under the bus. If he could have thrown 2K under, it would have been long ago.

I wouldn't be surprised, however, if Joran tries to roll over his dead papa.

I don't believe these latest proposed searches will amount to anything, and I am sorry Dave and Tim are even making the effort.

GLENDA is saying Joran gave the location of Natalee's body in April. Is this the information that the U.S. Attorney's office said was fraudulent? Or some other divine secret Joran whispered into only Julia's ear?

What is it with these murderers who dye their hair? Didn't that Scott Peterson do the same thing after he murdered his wife? Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows for a fact whether or not Peru has the death penalty? I heard O'Reilly say they would execute him there, and I was hoping they would.

Does anyone know if a "date rape drug" has a hypnotic effect to where the user can pretty much be commanded to do anything?

If so, that would account for the odd interaction between Joran and Stephany in the video at the hostel...earlier discussion was that it was odd that she just held her head down and there was no conversation going on between them.

No, Puzzler; that drug does not have that effect. (Good thought, though.)

If he goes to Lurigancho prison in Lima, he won't live long unless his family can bribe the right people to keep him alive and fed. Lurigancho is one of the worst prisons in the world, filthy, full of people with AIDS and TB, and there are no guards inside. The prisoners run the place, and they don't like rich white kids, especially those who kill Peruvian citizens. He may actually go there to await trial, and if so, he won't make it very long. Justice will be served.

The dutchman will be the belle of the ball in that nasty prison after he is convicted. He can get any attorney he wants they are not going to get him out of this one.

I read that at the present time, 137 Dutch citizens are rotting in Peruvian prisons so for Aruba "officials" to think they can help him now is ludicrous.

I saw it in the Thailand picture, he wouldn't need a whole lot of bleach to burn that off.

Hi Darleen -

I don`t think Joran qualifies for death in Peru. I think they may still have it, but it is only used on the rarest of occasions.

He`ll get many many years - maybe life, I think.

...and even a few short years in a Peru jail is a death sentence for Joran. IMO

I don`t think he has the skills. I think he has just enough skills to get himself killed in prison.

We are still getting alot of conflicting information which I am sure will be cleared up as the investigation unfolds. I think Peru will be very forthcoming with it and if they are not, the family of Stephany Flores will be and we will know much more than we do at this point.

But I do think that Peru has more than enough evidence for a conviction. So they do not need for Joran to make a deal. Joran is the one who needs the deal. And he is not in much of a position to ask for one. I'd like to see him get one of the harsher, high-altitude, cold prisons with no electricity, etc.

So perhaps he will be forthcoming with the truth about Natalee in order to avoid the worst if the jails. Otherwise, he is going to die in a foreign prison under very harsh circumstances.

Why in the world would the Aruban officials want to help him?! Thanks for the information, though, Turbothink. Oh, and as for the worries that he will be sent back to the Netherlands (I've read in other areas)--that's never going to happen.

I believe they do but not for murder, I think it was just for treason or something like that. I'll have to check. I think they are talking about 35 years for Joran.

Hi, Carpe!! Well, if he doesn't qualify for their death sentence, who does?

Spies? International terrorists?

Dunno. I feel the same way. Joran deserves death. He`s a tsunami of human pain and suffering.

Bearly,

In one of the photos of Joran clutching his pants that are falling off, you can see the top of the shutters (horrors!) and they did not get the new coat of paint that the roof did.

Hi, Ms.Marple. If Glenda's saying he told where Natalee's buried, why doesn't she use her so-called sharp reporting skills and find out what he said and tell everyone? Maybe she's saving that information to try to cut a deal in case she's tried for obstructing justice.

Stephany father expects more tests

Ricardo Flores, the girl's father died, Stephany Flores, said he has great faith that the police find more evidence on the laptop of Joran van der Sloot, and further proves his guilt in the crime. View video

"The computer is here in Lima, was brought from Chile, and is being examined by police. Ahi could find a thousand things of many other possible crimes because the subject has a profile of mass murderer" he said.

Despondent Flores said his daughter began researching the Internet and saw much of the profile of the Netherlands now under arrest, accused of the murder of Stephany.

He noted that there are many similarities between the death of his daughter, and another young woman murdered in Aruba, Natalee Holloway, as both knew what the subject in a casino one day and died May 30.

"I have great faith in God that he's computer, which has been requisitioned, many things will appear," he said.

"The energy I have is giving me my daughter"

The girl's father said that in these hard times why your family is suffering, he feels his daughter is present and gives strength to continue and to do justice not only for herself, but also by the other girl who was murdered in Aruba .

He said that at first, after the disappearance of Stephany, was thought to be a kidnapping, but when the hours passed and not receiving any calls for ransom, it was thought the worst.

"We thought it was a kidnapping because all marked that, but was diluted (...) because we spent hours calling and stress, grief, were horrible," she said.

He said that to be familiar with the case of her daughter, stayed up until the Dutchman arrived in Peru, and then took a pill to relax.

It will travel with his family

He said that when he saw the capture of the Dutchman felt a lot of peace, because her family did not want this man to continue doing what he did in Aruba and was released or escape. "

"My heart tells me to be clear not only the crime of my daughter, but that girl that her family has five years of suffering. I know the girl's father Holloway has sent condolences for videos and I hope they too can find the peace they need, "he said.

He also announced that it would travel with his family to face the enormous loss of his daughter, and asked the press not to be disturbed or called.

cecilita - hello, I am not the best to answer you, but no, I don't think we have heard of any other girls with Joran in Peru. But if Joran was slipping drugs (date rape drugs - roofies?) in drinks, there might be someone there who doesn't even remember.

darleen - hello again! I think there's speculation that (a) Stephany's father, in his compassion for Natalee's family, might agree to Joran serving his sentence in The Netherlands, IF (b) Joran tells where Natalee's remains are. (They better watch the fine print on that one, though - Joran's "in the ocean" just can't be allowed to suffice. At whose expense would that recovery be, and how long before Aruba gets its hands into it?)
