I couldn't happen in the US.  He could not claim insanity because he knew what he did was wrong and tried to run.  He bleached his hair. He has lied about the reasons for the murder.  So, I would say NO but I understand a defense attorney seeking that.

Julia Renfro has been a participant in the misinformation campaign from the getgo ... the misinformation campaign to distance Joran and Paulus from implication while focusing blame on the family of Natalee Holloway.  It makes perfect sense that this editor of an Aruban publication was thisclose to those inside the so-called investigation.

BILL O'REILLY, HOST: In the "Personal Story" segment tonight, charges that there is tension between Aruban police officials and the family of Natalee Holloway. The stories detailed in Vanity Fair magazine, a publication that is suspect to me. But nevertheless, the article is causing controversy.

Joining us now on the phone from Aruba is Julia Renfro, the editor of Aruba Today, who is mentioned extensively on the article.

The thesis, and they quote Deputy Chief Gerold Dompig in the article. The thesis is that the Holloway family, Twitty family, impeded the police investigation, Julia. Do you believe that?

JULIA RENFRO, EDITOR, ARUBA TODAY: Well, it’s not really what I believe, but I did speak to the Commissioner Dompig earlier today, and I asked him, "What did you mean by they hurt the investigation?" And he said he’s not blaming them specifically for anything, but that their attacks via the U.S. media certainly changed the tide of the investigation, basically, pressuring the police to make what they felt, believe it or not, premature arrests of the suspect.

Stephany's body language suggested she wasn't into boys (as stated above), so why would she go to the room with him? It's possible Joran is very charming and lured her into the room with empty promises of pot, poker, money making scheme, or money to gamble? Seems also that Joran was excited by money, like sexually stimulated when cash came into his hands. For instance, he got Beth's money and went to Columbia and Peru to stalk chicks in casinos... where you can get rich quick on a gamble.

Also about him watching her dead body over coffee, I totally agree.
They enter 5:20. He kills her. Then goes for coffee. Looks up Natalie on his computer himself... maybe to tell the dead girl that she's alike or to bring his head back to how he escaped Natalie.

This post makes me sad for Stephany. She died a horrible death.

I heard today that Lima has 100% humidity... but no rain. There is alot of pneumonia and the conditions there are very hard for people who aren't used to the climate.

I think Stephany was already deceased when Joran went for coffee.  He is so stupid he thought buying two cups would actually fool somebody.  That's why I would like to know what he was wearing when he left for that.  If he already changed his shirt, it was because blood was on it.

Just my theory - but I think he ran out of money while they were gambling and she fronted him some cash.  He told her he had money back in his hotel room and would pay her back.  Back to room - no cash - he either kills her then ... or stalls for a while then kills her.

it's fair that Aruba and Holland find out what's on that hard drive like the rest of us do - from the Peruvian media. Then there will be no scramble time. And let's get real, they only want that hard drive for one reason, to see if he has anything on hard wired that incriminates them. I imagine Joran wanted Stephany back at the room for sex as well as trying to get money out of her or from her.  She may have been naive and gave him a loan while playing poker and he said he had cash back in his room.  He probably didn't believe her that she wasn't into guys, not did he really care.

Is it possible that he lured Stephany back to the room and started to unload on her. Other sources have said he was depressed and desperate due to the lack of money.  It sounds like his family had had it with him also. He may have figured that she wouldn't remember what was discussed due to being given a date rape drug, as well as possibly having other drugs in her system?  He probably lied to her as well while doing this.  She called him on this, or possibly resisted a sexually attack. She may or may have not gone into his computer sometime during these hours. Not having her pants on tells me there was something else going on, unless Joran removed her pants after her death or unconsciousness trying to set up a crime scene where someone else made a sexual attack on her.

Anything is possible, but one thing is sure.  He attacked and killed Stephany and does it really matter why?  Her life was taken and he doesn't want to be accountable for the events leading up to her death or the murder itself.

The most incredible part of your story has to do with what happened in his hotel room, where he was found dead Flores.

As narrated as they came to his room found a man in bed, who had a pistol in his belt, and another man emerged from the bathroom with a knife. He added that one of them hit the girl in the face.

Who were those guys? According to the Dutchman would have said, their alleged attackers were the same police who asked him for money on the road.

Already in the days before journalists from the United States and Aruba who followed the earlier case of his alleged victim, Natalee Holloway, said that the Dutchman is accustomed to constantly changing version and the same happened when that time was investigated.

Steph:   “Tim Miller, other people are asking ‘are there any plans to search in the ocean?'  isn’t that like looking for a needle in a haystack in this case?" 

Tim:  “Not really, not with the equipment that John Silvetti and Louis Schaefer have.  In fact, two years ago on December 30th we found a fish trap and we was almost positive it was Natalee’s body in the fish trap.  We dove on it along with the Aruban authorities and then they said they’ve got to contact the Netherlands to see how to preserve it and what to do with it, and we was all going to dive on it together.  The Aruban authorities dove on it and then six weeks later they said the DNA came back as a male.  So, did we find Natalee?  I don’t know.  It certainly looked like her clothes in that fish trap and again we know that the night Natalee disappeared the fishermen’s huts were broken into, a knife was stolen, the big fish trap was stolen, uh, and ironic we found one and I’ve actually got the pictures of that, you know, what certainly appears to be a body in that fish trap.  So, I don’t know.

Approximate Initial date of Extortion Plot by Joran Van der Sloot

According to the document, around March 29, van der Sloot contacted a representative of Holloway's mother, Beth Holloway...said he would reveal the location of the body and the circumstances surrounding her death for $25,000 in cash. He asked for $250,000 in total, the document states.

Joran contacted a (Holloway) family rep by email and offered to reveal the location of Natalee’s body for $250, 000.
