Way to Jail: Joran van der Sloot was detained in holding cells of the Judiciary

The murderer of the young Stephany Flores, Dutchman Joran van der Sloot was transferred from the headquarters of the Public Prosecutor to the lockup of the judiciary, in the center of Lima, where it will be transferred to a high security prison.

Like what we would think of as subnpoenas.  Don't think it means they are going to punished if they tell all.

Remember they are in another country and would have to pass through Chilean government.

The judiciary ordered the detention of Joran van der Sloot at the beginning of criminal proceedings for the murder of the young Peruvian Stephany Flores.

Is it normal for the Netherlands or any other country to send food and lawyers to thier citizens accused in other countries of murder?? Is that standard procedure?

Doubtful, and I bet once the other Dutch prisoners get wind of it, he is toast.

I think it was said early on that the Dutch Embassy provides either 30 Euros or 30 Dollars and

Sorry if this has already been posted, but found this article today (dated from June 8, 2010).  There hasn't been any update on this, but considering the amount of traveling Joran has done to play poker matches (China, Thailand, Columbia, etc...), it wouldn't surprise me if officials discover Joran connected to other missing women.....

Joran Van Der Sloot is now the suspect in the disappearance of two Colombian women.  Two girls disappeared from a casino in Colombia.

When Joran left Aruba on May 10th, with the $15,000 dollars in extortion money, he flew to Columbia for two days prior to traveling to Peru. Officials in Colombia are so convinced he is involved in the disappearance of these two young women, they have boarded a plane to Peru to question Van der Sloot.

The Dutchman Joran van der Sloot, prime suspect in the disappearance of a young American in Aruba in 2005, confessed to killing a Peruvian woman of 21 years, announced Monday the local police in July.

Colonel Abel Gamarra, head of the Information Directorate of the Police of Peru, announced that Van der Sloot confessed during interrogation he was subjected by Peruvian agents.

The Dutchman, 22, was made available to the prosecution on Thursday June 10, so that it formalizes the criminal complaint, while a judge should order his imprisonment. The National Prison Institute determine in which prison the defendant will be held.

Police sources said that Van der Sloot said he had beaten to death with Stephany Flores, a university student in business administration, which was finally strangled on Sunday 30 May in the hotel room where the Dutchman was staying.

Some how that doesn't seem quite right.  I would like more negative publicity for Aruba.

Of course they are going to get plenty before this is over but would be nice to see a more specific ID on Joran.

Well, we´re used to it.
Aruba has a special status.
Until 1986 it was a Dutch colony, after that it became a seperate country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
So people there have a Dutch passport, that way both countries are still connected.
Joran was born in the Netherlands so I guess people will keep calling him that until he dies.
