Aruba: No Natalee questions for now

0 Comments 16 June 2010

Oranjestad, Aruba (NEWS.GNOM.ES) — Aruban investigators will likely not travel to Peru to question murder suspect Joran van der Sloot until at least the end of August, prosecutor Peter Blanken said Wednesday.

Van der Sloot, who is being held in Peru in connection with the slaying of a 21-year-old student last month, is the lead suspect in the 2005 disappearance in Aruba of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway.

Investigators from Aruba will not be able to question van der Sloot until Peruvian authorities finish their probe of the May 30 slaying of Stephany Flores, Blanken said. The formalities of Peruvian law also will determine the time frame, the prosecutor said.

Aruba also will have to wait to see what information may be contained in a laptop computer Peruvian authorities confiscated when they arrested van der Sloot, Blanken said. The FBI will obtain that information from Peru and then share it with Aruban investigators, Blanken said.

Authorities in Aruba say they do not know whether the computer contains any information that may help in the Holloway case.

Aruban and Peruvian authorities have agreed to “help each other” in the investigations, Aruba government spokesman Taco Stein said Tuesday.

Stein said after a phone conversation with Peruvian Judge Carlos Morales on Tuesday morning that Peruvian authorities have agreed to allow Aruban investigators into Peru to interview van der Sloot once a formal request has been made.

Stein did not indicate when the request would occur but described the conversation as a “positive start.”

Holloway’s father, Dave Holloway, met with Aruban authorities on the Caribbean island Tuesday and told NEWS.GNOM.ES he believes progress is being made in the investigation. He declined to elaborate further.

Van der Sloot, a 22-year-old Dutch citizen, was arrested twice in Aruba in connection with Holloway’s disappearance but released for lack of evidence. Aruba is part of the Netherlands.

He said he was in Peru for a poker tournament and met Flores while gambling.

Police have said they think van der Sloot killed Flores to steal money she won from gambling.

Van der Sloot told authorities he attacked Flores on May 30 after she read an e-mail on his computer connected with the Holloway case.

Death threats. Maximum Highness fears for his family. Since taking the case, he says, have not ceased to send intimidating emails. Meanwhile, father of Stephany implicates the FBI for failing to catch the Dutchman.

here we go.....Greta talks to the family and now they speak out against the FBI....way to go Greta!!
I unfortunately was waiting for this to happen.

She deftly laid the agenda groundwork, didn't she?   And then took it upon herself to include Beth.  She should never have even touched upon this .. and to a grieving family so far removed from the facts of Aruba always keeping the FBI at arm's lengths during the first few days after Natalee went missing, Joran's arrest, etc. in Aruba.  It was insensitive & inappropriate.  I was embarrassed for the Flores' family.  She could have said that off-camera if indeed, Beth really told her to relay that message.

This also intrigues me, and possibly gives weight to the potential of the US charging him with murder, IMO.  Why else would Peru give this to the FBI instead of straight to ALE?

And what excellent news this is!!!  Aruba won't get a chance to spin or alter anything, after two foreign law enforcement agencies have already seen it!

I am so glad the FBI has this extortion/fraud thing going - warrant, extradition, Interpol - I *think* this means that the FBI gets first shot at the laptop (after Peru, of course).

Since Aruba basically has no case ... has only requested an interview ...

SBS - Joran special - part 1

SBS-crew was in Peru this week

The prison:
Wim van der Pol is the only Dutch journalist who ever visited Castro Castro. He pretended to be a priest.
He said he met a man, that was killed the next day.
It smells awful because of bad hygiene, smell of rotting food.
Showing last week's footage of Joran being escorted to his cell.
Inside prison walls it's survival of the fittest.
There's always a lack of food, lack of medical care.
Van der Pol says he saw someone with his stomach cut open, holding his guts in his arms because there was no medical care.

nonesuch -

(snip):
Cuomo called Joran a sociopath and said he's spoken with experts who feel Joran might not even know the "truth" of what happened to Natalee any longer, due to the many, many lies he's told regarding it.

He tried to advance that Joran became more twisted after he was accused of murder of Natalee, that post that even he felt he could not escape it and therefore it drove him to live a very dark life. (cry me a river)

He also said he had viewed all 27 hours of De Vries tapes of Joran's car confession and that he felt when he watched it, that perhaps this was the 'truth' - that Natalee had a seizure and they put her into the ocean.

Uh huh - and why would they need to do that?

Trauma to the head will cause seizures.  She probably had a seizure after the first 2-3 times he hit her in the head with that 'infamous' baseball bat that he kept handy.  Lying SOB.

Does anyone know what Chris Cuomo said on The View?  He's the one with the journal.

If it's that little Aline's, I  dont think I care what's in it.

It's Melody's.

Was Melody his first girlfriend? I can't remember but Cuomo stated it was his FIRST girlfriend in Aruba.

Good Morning Nonesuche!

I don't think Melody was his first girlfriend, but I think he was her first boyfriend.  I'm not certain about that though.

He was probably married to his fist before he met Melody.  Seems like he loves to do things with his fists.
