Thanks Jo-An, I didn't think it made sense that he would already be there speaking with Joran.

A PICTURE FROM ARUBA

    * June 16, 2010 – 6:56 am

Dave Holloway feels he had a very succesful trip to Aruba.  He met with FBI, Aruban authorities and the  Aruban Prosecutor’s Office. He is pleased with the way things are progressing into the investigation of what happened to Natalee.  Don’t believe for a second people on this island don’t want closure to this case.  Dave is a good man with a kind heart, and I appreciate the opportunity to spend this time with him in Aruba.  There is alot I want to say, but out of respect to Dave, Tim Miller from Texas EquuSearch and the investigation — I cannot.  Please remember Tim Miller’s organization relies completely on donations from the public to continue to search for people and to assist the families; like the Holloway family, in any means they can. To view Texas EquuSearch’s website, www.texasequusearch.org.

I will be in Aruba until Saturday following up on leads and bringing you the very latest from the “One Happy Island” of Aruba.  Tomorrow I will visit the prison here and bring you video of what life could have been like for Joran Van Der Sloot, had he been convicted in Natalee Holloway’s murder.  Trust me, this place is like a palace with an ocean view compared to the prison he now finds himself in Peru.

I don't know this blogger so forgive a newbie if I step on toes.  But it seems to be from reading his blog that a lot of details escape him, or maybe he is just not that familiar with Natalee's case.  Am I wrong?

Inside Notorious Prisons van der Sloot Faces
Lawyer Who's Been in One Describes Danger to the Max for
Inmates, Corruption, and Extremely Unsanitary Conditions

(CBS) Peruvian police hustled Joran van der Sloot through a gauntlet of photographers and angry bystanders Friday into a prison system observers call on of the world's worst.

The 22-year-old Dutchman is charged with murdering Peruvian business student Stephany Flores, 21, in his Lima hotel room May 30.

He's also the chief suspect in the 2005 disappearance in Aruba of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway - but he's never been charged.

Van der Sloot was taken to the Miguel Castro Castro prison on the outskirts of Lima where, reports CBS News Correspondent Elaine Quijano, he was strip-searched, X-rayed and given a medical exam.

That facility, observes CBS News legal analyst Trent Copeland, is "a place with poor nutrition, lack of sanitation, overcrowding -- immense overcrowding, and where epidemic levels of HIV and tuberculosis are known to exist."

Van der Sloot is being kept from the prison's general population, and is said to fear for his life.

"I'm not certain," Copeland says, "van der Sloot can do anything to assure himself that he's gonna survive this Peruvian prison system. … So, if he's concerned about this, I think the only thing that he can do to protect himself is to stay low and keep himself out of harm's way."

International defense attorney Michael Griffith has been inside another prison in Peru - one where, experts say, van der Sloot could well land, and described ultra-dangerous, hideous conditions to "Early Show" co-anchor Erica Hill Tuesday, saying flat-out he'd "be surprised" if van der Sloot survives to the end of his sentence.

Griffith had a client in another Lurigancho Prison.

"The prison (currently housing van der Sloot) is one of the toughest prisons, along with Lurigancho," Griffith says. "I've been in prisons in over two dozen countries. In fact, I was the lawyer for Billy Hayes from the movie 'Midnight Express,' and the Turkish prison is a Ritz-Carlton compared to this.

"There's about 10,000 prisoners for 3,000 spaces. This and another prison where he's gonna go afterwards, Lurigancho, has dormitories of about 600 prisoners in each. The showers run once a week for 15 minutes. There's only 12 showers. They're in rooms of about 25-by-15 (feet) with about 35 prisoners. About seven or eight sleep on the floor. There's a hole for a toilet.

"And it's a very, very brutal place."

Can van der Sloot live out his sentence, assuming he's convicted and however long it runs?

"It's gonna be really tough. In Miguel Castro Castro, believe it or not, the first day the warden took his position there about a year or two ago, he was murdered.

"In Lurigancho, you have the Shining Path guerillas. There's about 600 of them. They had a revolt one day, about 124 were killed by the police. When I went to visit a client of mine there, I had to hire two-guards to walk me through the Shining Path guerilla territory. The next day, I thought it would be better if my client visited me in the holding area - in the visiting area. And a prisoner got stabbed ten feet away from me. If he wants to survive there, he's really gonna hafta keep a low profile.

"He's gonna probably have to stay in what's called 'the tourist section,' or 'the tourist dorm.' But even prisoners outside can get in there. They shine shoes, they cook for the foreign prisoners. But in this prison, you can get anything -- you can get women, drug, weapons, you can get money. For $50, someone will cut your throat. If the family of this young lady wanted to pay a prisoner there 50 or 100 bucks, they'd be standing in line to cut his throat."

In turn, could van der Sloot's family pay prisoners to protect him?

"No," Griffith said bluntly. "I mean, if they want to get you in this prison, they'll get you. In fact, the day that I was there, I got back to the gate a little bit late and the guard wanted to keep me in overnight. So for a couple of cigarettes, he let me out.

"Money will get you anything in this prison and I'll tell you, I'd be very surprised if van der Sloot makes the seven or eight or ten years, whatever he'll get, with time off for good behavior.

Oh, great!  At least a year more of her flat-footed questions.  But no way would she retire when there is all this going on.

You never know, she might be inclined to believe Joran when he starts changing his stories in Peru.

Both alot of details escape him AND he's not that familiar with the case.  He used to work with Greta but he and Fox had a parting of the ways.  I don't care for him, I think he's mostly FOS.

Jenna at RU thinks that John Ludwick is FBI.  She thinks this because he is from Alexandria VA so it's obvious to her, LOLOL.  She's the same one that has the theory that Stephany isn't really dead.

I would listen to Jenna.  This gal had the Persistence betrayal figured out at the get go.  We all .....

So Steph Watts is quite taken by Aruba and thinks it is one happy island and all are cooperating nicely with Dave Holloway.

Where's that BS flag when we need it!

Has it not occurred to him that they have NOT been doing any searches at all?  And he likes being followed?

Sharp as a bowling ball, that one.

This just blows my mind.  Aruba HAD Joran since February when pappa Sloot died and went to He$$ and they had no desire to talk to him there.  Now it is really important for them to talk to him now.  WHY?

http://www.larepublica.pe/sociedad/16/06/2010/el-21-de-junio-interrogaran-van-der-sloot

On June 21, van der Sloot will question

Created on 16/06/2010 - 16:48

Carlos Morales, Judge of the Fourth Criminal Court of Lima, scheduled for Monday 21 June, the interrogation of Joran van der Sloot [1] in the process is followed for the offenses of simple murder and theft, to the detriment of Stephany Flores .

The judicial hearing will be held at 10:00 am in the Castro Castro prison in Canto Grande, where the Dutchman citizen aged 22 years imprisonment met since last June 11, when the Permanent Duty Criminal Court was opened with an arrest warrant statement.

On Tuesday, the judge scheduled the proceedings to clarify the facts and accountability.

For this purpose, we ask the brothers John Oswald and John Williams Aparcana Pisconte and Pretil Carlos Alberto Uribe, 23, 24 and June 25 respectively.

Such persons are accused of having facilitated the transportation of Van der Sloot Nazca to Tacna despite allegedly knew about the crime that he would have incurred.

Dr. Córdova Morales also ordered the implementation of psychological and psychiatric expertise to the principal defendant, and the ratification of the autopsy and all opinions made in the preliminary stage so that specialists can help clarify this case.

It was reported that the reconstruction of the events will be scheduled in due course, depending on progress of the criminal proceedings.

Morales explained that the criminal investigation will focus on the crime of Stephany, on 30 May last, and in the eventuality that arises is any indication referred to the death of American teenager Natalee Holloway, the court will assess and take necessary measures to relevant authorities to achieve this evidence without affecting the process in our country or the fundamental rights of the Dutchman.

My local news just said that Anita is still on Aruba and says that she will have to "borrow money"
before she can go to Peru to visit Joran.  She is now a widow with very limited income.

Isn't it strange that there would be such big news in Louisiana and Alabama at the same time things are happening in the Joran murder cases, including Katrina and the oil spill.  It seems something really big comes along to usurp the vacuum created by any news, and then he breaks loose.
