I did find this from Investors Business Daily which seems to describe it as holding the same philosophy as many of the prominent black leaders today, being very biased toward the black community only.  And the source is of course a stock market site related to investments, etc. and not purely political so it tends to make me a bit uneasy about all this.

Obama's Real Faith
INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY

Posted 1/22/2007

Campaign 2008: Those spreading rumors that Barack Hussein Obama is a "closet Muslim" are off the mark. His religion has little to do with Islam and everything to do with a militantly Afrocentric movement that's no less troubling.

Surrogates for Hillary Clinton and GOP front-runners hope to tarnish golden boy Obama by making him out to be some kind of Manchurian candidate for Islamist masters because he shares a name with Saddam Hussein and is the son of a Muslim.

True, his late father was Muslim, but he can hardly be described as "radical," as the rumors have put it. He turned atheist in his early 20s before Obama was even born.

His mother is from a Christian background but eschewed organized religion altogether. She and her parents (one Baptist, the other Methodist) ended up raising Obama after her two marriages failed.

Yes, his former stepfather, an Indonesian oil executive, also was Muslim, albeit a secular one. Obama describes him as "nonpracticing," and he spent only five years with the man before he and his mother split up.

If, as rumors claim, Obama's stepfather nurtured a "lifelong relationship with Islam" for his stepson, why isn't his daughter a practicing Muslim? Obama's Indonesian half-sister, now a University of Hawaii professor, is a "hottie" who dresses in Westernized clothing, students say.

What about the supposed "Wahhabi madrassa" Obama attended for "four years" in Jakarta? Actually, he went to a Muslim school for two years, along with a Catholic school for the same amount of time. "I was sent first to a neighborhood Catholic school," Obama wrote in his autobiography, "and then to a predominantly Muslim school."

Obama said he was drawn to Christ after college while working with black churches on inner-city projects. Soon he knelt "beneath the cross" at one of them, he said in a recent speech, and "embraced Christ." If he were Muslim, this act alone would be punishable by death.

Trouble is, Obama embraced more than Christ when he answered the altar call 20 years ago at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Southside Chicago. The 8,000-member church describes itself as "unashamedly black" and holds classes in "African-centered Bible study." He also pledged to honor something called the "Black Value System," which is a code of nonbiblical ethics written by blacks for blacks.

This is what should give American voters pause.

According to its Web site, Trinity puts the "black community" first. Black members are encouraged to pursue education and skills exclusively to advance their community, and allocate their money exclusively to support "black institutions" and black leaders.

In short, it preaches from the gospel of blackness and black power. There's little room for white Christians at Obama's church. It disavows the pursuit of "middleclassness" — code for whiteness — arguing that middleclassness is a conspiracy by white leaders to keep talented African-Americans "captives."
Obama, meanwhile, has been getting in touch with his African roots. He recently visited relatives in Kenya for the first time, and dropped the nickname Barry for the more African-sounding Barack.

"I believe in the power of the African-American religious tradition to spur social change," he recently asserted. He said his faith has also led him to question "the idolatry of the free market." This reflects Trinity church doctrine that no African-American can really rise to the top echelons of a "racist, competitive" white society on merit.

Obama, in turn, calls the dashiki-wearing minister of this militantly black church his "spiritual adviser" and mentor. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright said of Obama and his other congregants: "We are an African people, and remain true to our native land, the mother continent." He wants health care for all and more housing for the poor, and calls those who voted for President Bush (and his tax cuts) "stupid."

Do such beliefs translate into a political agenda tailored to African-Americans? Would Obama, despite his agreeably race-neutral and nonthreatening public persona, govern and petition on behalf of one group and not necessarily for the greater good of the country?

White House challengers such as Clinton think Obama's childhood brushes with Islam will make Americans nervous. But it's his adult conversion to black nationalism and socialism that makes this otherwise attractive minority candidate unfortunately so unattractive.

I originally posted this in different topic, but considering this topic name, it should have went here.

My letter to Senator Obama:

Dear Senator Obama,

In an attempt at making an educated decision on who I believe might best fulfill the job of President of the United States, I am doing some research on some of the top rated candidates before casting my vote. I have some questions for you that I hope you will answer with regards to my concerns of your church and faith background. I understand your claims of being Christian, however, reading up on your church's
so-called Concepts and Values, shown below. I would like for you to explain to me how you could possibly contribute in eliminating racism and bring this country together. You see sir, my Christian church, as most, accept all race and backgrounds in its congregation with open arms. The only teachings in my church are teachings right out of the Bible, which teaches all people are equal. Your church doctrine it specifically only accepts Black/Africans and is unashamed, unapologetic and non-negotiable. The word Black is mentioned 15 times and the word African 4 times, making it very clear to me as an Irish/German female Caucasian, I would never be accepted their. That sir, is downright extreme racism, especially for a President of the US! Can you please explain this and how you could/would benefit our entire country and bring together the divide that exists? Please explain your desire to run for US President, if your allegience lies with your 'native land' Africa. I anxiously await your response.

Sincerely,

Diana
Ohio

We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.

Apparently, they do not object to smoking.  Thought this was a big no no for the left.

Obama to Quit -- Smoking, That Is
Political Wunderkind Ready for White House Run, First Opponent Marlboro Reds
By JAKE TAPPER
Feb. 7, 2007 — - When Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., officially enters the stressful world of presidential politics this Saturday, he will be trying his hardest to resist the urge to smoke those Marlboro Red cigarettes he has relied upon for years.

Instead, he has pledged to his wife, Michelle, that he will chew Nicorette gum.

Before the Run, Obama Needs to Quit

Obama may face several daunting challengers in the months to come -- Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., a prying media, a conservative attack machine and the tricky politics of race. But none may prove as mighty a foe as his nicotine habit.

"I've never been a heavy smoker," Obama told the Chicago Tribune. "I've quit periodically over the last several years. I've got an ironclad demand from my wife that in the stresses of the campaign I don't succumb. I've been chewing Nicorette strenuously."

Obama aides say that the main reason Michelle Obama has been pushing so hard for her husband to quit the demon weed is for health reasons, but of course for any public figure, one also has to factor in the image of the habit -- either out of concerns he would be setting a bad example, or that he may turn off some voters.

An unscientific sampling of men and women on the street indicates that the public wants him to quit, though they do not consider a cigarette habit to be a disqualification for office, however much cigarettes have been linked to cancer, heart disease and impotence.

"Serving as a role model for the rest of the country," remarked one woman. "Yeah, I think he needs to quit smoking if he is going to run for president."

Added Sue Wycoff of St. Paul, Minn., "having a daughter who died from lung cancer, we kind of feel strongly that smoking is not smart."

"But he's got two years to become a reformed smoker," chimed in her husband, Peter. "And those are the most adamant people."

"And he is not an alcoholic," added Sue. "That would be worse."

National Media Butts In

Obama has admitted to cocaine and marijuana use in his teenage years, but it's his use of cigarettes that has merited national media attention.

The New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd wrote that his penchant for butts makes the Democrat "intriguingly imperfect," while Fox News Channel's John Gibson has called it "Obama's dirty little secret" and argued that it makes him wonder "what else do we not know about Barack Obama?" (This literally days before Gibson helped spread the false smear that Obama attended an Indonesian madrassa as a youth.)

Clearly mindful of the image issues smoking may cause, Obama has been careful to keep images of him with what health advocates call "cancer sticks" out of the newspapers.

Unlike Presidents Franklin Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Lyndon Johnson, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan or Bill Clinton, members of the media have been unable to find photographic images of Obama smoking even a cigar or pipe. The political gossip Web site Wonkette.com has even offered reward money for anyone who can produce a picture of Obama smoking.

"For someone who's known to be a smoker and for a senator who's photographed all the time, it's odd that there aren't actually pictures of him smoking," said Wonkette editor Alex Pareene.

Not really, though -- Wonkette has also tried in vain to obtain smoking photographs of House Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, an unrepentant chain smoker whose Barclays aromatically fill the area outside his Capitol Hill office as if it were an enormous marble ashtray.

Other rumored present or past smokers in political life -- first lady Laura Bush, former Vice President Al Gore -- have assiduously kept any signs of the habit away from any prying shutterbugs.

Health Advocates See Education Opportunity

Some anti-smoking advocates want Obama to come forward even more publicly to discuss his habit.

"I think it would be an enormous first step forward if he would come all the way out of the closet and say, 'I smoke, I wish I didn't, I plan on quitting again, I've tried this many times,'" said Cheryl Healton, president and CEO of the American Legacy Foundation. "Because if you dig deep behind the story, my guess is that's probably the reality, that he wants to quit and has tried many times."

Now the big question for the junior senator: Will Nicorette be enough to get him through Iowa and New Hampshire? Or will he inhale?

Matt Stuart and John Cochran contributed to this report.

Obama stated that he does smoke cigarettes and is attempting to stop. This is not a stance of not objecting to smoking. As a smoker of far too many years, I can provide my own testimony on this addiction. I wish to God that I had never started as it has been a curse ever since. I have known for a very long time the severity of the impact of my smoking on others and myself. I am all for laws (and enforcing them) to remove smoke from the public air and from children's air. In my latest battle with this addiction, I have not smoked since early December. I cannot say with any degree of certainty that I will never smoke again (God knows that I want to). I'm sure chewing the heck out of nicotine gum, though!
