Northern Rose so glad you made it though the party. I am tried just thinking about it. LOL  I bet the kids had a great time.

Tevye First YES the washer & dyer are as important as a lawnmower. That's one thing I miss about working. Being able to say I paid for it. LOL The pizza sounds good. Different but good.

Good Night NRCG  Have a good evening.

Brandi  Liver and onions YUCK. Thank goodness my mom didn't like it so when she fixed it for my dad we got something else.

TBM  of course no one knows how it broke. Got must have had to much weight in it. More like the shelve was full and someone forced or tried to force a bottle of something in it.

I got up really early to make the cake. White cake with pudding from scratch filling, whipcream icing topped with fresh strawberries and toasted almonds.  It was yummy and I am really glad I got up to make it.  Kids arrived at 11:00, I BBQ'd burgers and dogs, watermelon and chips for lunch.  Then in the pool and holy water fight and lawn thanks them for all the splashing.  Then in the house to play rockband, back in the pool, more watering the lawn and water fight, in the house to have cake, in the pool yet again , in the house to make a wii movie, in the pool , then finally parents came.  One had to call his parents twice as they were two hours late picking him up.  I am exhausted but it was a fun day.  Parents were late as they were watching soccer and lost track of time.

I love liver and onions and all my kids do as well.  It has to be done right.  First only calves liver not some old dairy cow.  Sliced thin, soaked in milk for at least 2 hours.  Then dipped into flour with salt and pepper.  Fry lots of bacon, leave enough bacon fat in pan then fry up onions in it, then add a bit more bacon fat and finally fry liver in the same fat that the onions and bacon came from.  Top with a pile of fried onions, bacon and finally smother it in gravy serve over mashed spuds OMG so good!

Northern Rose you are amazing. You make the liver sound good. But it's one of those things you have to require a taste for. I never could get past the smell. It sounds like the kids had a good time. Nothing beats a home made cake. My sister use to make a chocolate cake to die for. The recipe was from her ex hubby's gramma. Of course it has been lost.

You are very brave to have ventured into brussel sprouts LOL I can't stand the smell or taste of those little suckers. That and the smell of liver, yuck.

Liver, yuk!

Do people still eat that stuff? LOL I remember in the 60's my mother making it when my grandmother visited. Nasty stuff.

I am wondering what consistency lettuce would have on a pizza. (BLT) pizza.

Sounds weird to me, Tevye.

Strangely, liver and onion is very good seller at our restaurant - I think because it stinks up the house. As for the lettuce on the pizza - when we go to Ci Ci's they put it on after cooking.

Brandi, the idiot I live with leaves the microwave door open.....throws clothes at the clothes hamper. He also has been know to put empty ice trays back in the freezer sometimes.
Maybe I should put the ice trays, and clothes into the microwave, slam the door shut and throw it in the laundry basket He'll never think to look there.  Smile

I really got to take the dogs out now.Digger is giving me the look.LOL
Just got back from the stores, and luckily nobody got rammed with my shopping cart LOL   This caught my eye, the empty ice trays, why? Do they think the next time they will be able to use invisible ice cubes. And I can't tell you how many items have ended up in back of the dryer, because people are too something to figure it goes in the basket. And the almost empty drinks put back in the fridge, not even enough for a good drink. And then to top it off, my daughter just sent me a picture of Joan and Don getting a bath in her boyfriend's bath tub. I wrote her back and asked her now that they got a bath, are you going to powder and diaper them?

Oh yes,we need a retreat.
Now,where is out little JSM?

Wow, Brandi gave a link to some great pictures of Kyron's school in Portland. The horror movie fan that I am, have always love horror movies, peaked my interest. If I were going to film a horror movie would definitely use that school and surrounding area, WTH, the grass is so long a kid could get lost in it. Talk about a scary school, never have I seen a grade school such as this. An adult could certainly hide and jump out at a kid, just gives me the creeps.

Good morning, OMG that is just awful 92 already. Did you find out who broke a part of the fridge? Believe me, I've been through that kind of thing on numerous occasions and after awhile it gets old and not funny at all. My dad had an older sister, she had a lot of learing disabilities and she was so rough with everything she touched, she chipped and broke everything. My dad told me that grandma would go to the next door ladies house, they were both little Italian ladies, and would sit and cry over it all. My youngest daughter is just like Aunt Louise, bless her soul, breaking things, because she too is rough just like her. It can be extremely frustrating. I swear, that the school that Kyron attends is haunted, but then I let my imagination run away with me.

Sacked US General Stanley McChrystal issued a devastatingly critical assessment of the war against a "resilient and growing insurgency" just days before being forced out.

Using confidential military documents, copies of which have been seen by the IoS, the "runaway general" briefed defence ministers from Nato and the International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) earlier this month, and warned them not to expect any progress in the next six months. During his presentation, he raised serious concerns over levels of security, violence, and corruption within the Afghan administration.  WTH,  the more I read and hear the more upset I get with this war.

No I ask and got not me or it's been that way a long time etc. So will have to find a new shelve on line. I know what they did they tried to force a bottle of something in an already full shelve. My guess is the youngest grand son. He is like you daughter he is rough on every thing he touches. He broke a pair of scissors . Not where the connect at the handle but he broke one of the blades in half. To this day I have no idea how he did it. He was opening a box that a slip and slide came in. I need a recorder to play saying be gentle for him. It seems we are always telling him that. LOL

The school Kyron went to is scary.

The boys had a blast, my lawn is thankful for all the splashing from the pool, and the cake was a hit as most of the boys asked for seconds.  They loved the pudding filling which is made from scratch.  Here is the recipe, it is worth making it and you can flavour it any way you want.  I use this as the base for banana cream pie and then just slice fresh banana's in a already baked pie shell and pour this pudding over it.

3/4 cup white sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
3 egg yolks, beaten
2 tablespoons butter
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract

In a heavy saucepan combine the sugar, flour, and salt. Add milk in gradually while stirring. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until the mixture is bubbly. Keep stirring and cook for about 2 more minutes, and then remove from the burner.

Stir a small quantity of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks and immediately add egg yolk mixture to the rest of the hot mixture. Cook for 2 more minutes keep stirring. Remove from the stove and add butter and vanilla. Stir until the whole thing has a smooth consistency. Favour as you wish or leave as vanilla pudding.

It is hot here as well.  Already 18 C and not even noon .
