Trimm, couldn't help but think of you and your neighbor...............

Ralph, my neighbor is a "lefty" of sorts ( gun-ho socialized medicine, "guns should be banned", etc.). 

So last week I put this sign up in my yard after one of his anti-gun rants at a neighborhood cocktail party.  The sign wasn't up more than an hour before he called the police and wanted them to make me take down the sign. Fortunately, the officer politely informed him that it was not their job to take such action without a court order and that he had to file a complaint "downtown" first, which would be reviewed by the city attorney to see if it violated any city, county, or state ordinances, which if there was a violation a court order would be sent to the  offending party (me) to "remove the sign in seven days". 

After several weeks he was informed that the sign was legal (by a quarter of an inch) and there was nothing the city could do, which obviously made him madder. I tried to smooth things over by inviting him to go shooting with me and my friends at the hunt club but that seemed to make him even more angry.  I then asked him if he wanted to go to a Tea Party rally but again he declined my outreach efforts to bring about a better understanding between political and social  opponents.   

I am at a loss how to reconcile our long relationship (notice I did not say friendship), any suggestions would be welcome.
 
Anyway, that's life in our neck of the woods, how about yours? 

                       

I love the sign - I wanted to put one up here but all of my neigbors have guns like we do. I have some of my parents' acquaintances that are pro socialism and pro gun law - they are slowly coming to know that we are screwed if we do either!  I am a big tea party person - my hubby is one of the main members in our county.

I love the picture too. We don't own any guns. But that's our choice. I think it should be up to the person to make that decision not any lame azz law.

I agree wiht you Green Eyes - I am willing to own and use a weapon - to defend myself, my family or anyone else in danger. I am even willing to defend people that choose to not own weapons IF they allow each person to make up their own mind on the issue. I would have a much harder time defending a radical anti gun person however!

I stopped eating basically, and the little that I did eat wasn't enough to keep a body going. They at the hospital didn't know really what to do with an eating disorder in that day and time, and I was threatened with feeding me intravenious means and they kept me higher than a kite with drugs. I would never make light of an eating disorder or a situation where a person has trouble losing weight and exercise. I have battled this since a teen and have never completely gotten over it. So my apologies to anyone I may have hurt.

NRCG I am so sorry to hear you had that happen to you. ((( HUGS)))  I still don't think they really know what to do with eating disorders now. But my sister who married a guy that told her he wouldn't be married to anyone fat. Pretty much stopped eating for years. Even after she divorced his azz she didn't eat. Until this last year when she almost died because her body started to shut down from lack of food. I don't understand why people are so damn mean. We love you just they way you are. I don't think any body got hurt and I am sorry if they did. But we all know you wouldn't hurt anyone on purpose. ((HUGS))

I'm so sorry to hear that about your sister  HUGS  It is hard to explain, and I really don't know how to explain why someone does that to themselves. I guess the best way to explain, is you feel you have lost control of everything, and by stopping eating you have some control. No matter how much you lose, you don't see it, you always look fat no matter what, you just see yourself that way, there is no logic.  Thank-you very much and I hope your sister doesn't have a relapse, it is so hard not to relapse. It is a vicious cycle.

The Fakers next door as I call them now are at their city home.Probably be back this evening.I am so glad they are torturing my other neighbor,I am giddy.Hehehe.Gives me time to plan more covert ops.
All of our friends here are pro gun,hunting,etc.One of the Fakers is of our political persuasion.But socially,it ain't gonna happen with me.Don't like pushy,overbearing men.

I am sorry, i had just mis-interpreted your post, i thought u were tellling me it wasnt funny, no harm done, weight issues suck, the world has a f*@#$% up view of "how women should look" nowadays...its a constant battle for almost all women i think, there are a few who are genectically smaller and thinner, heck there are even ppl who cant gain weight.

I wasnt meaning to hurt feelings or start anything, or rehash old sad experiences sorry

No harm done, and yes the world has a very messed up perception of how women should look. And there are some of us no matter what we do, we are not going to look like this movie star or that movie star. Just doesn't happen for some people. The really sick part of what happened to me is that I really wasn't fat, unless you call a 18 year old that wore a size 10 fat, so I don't know. And there are people who can't gain weight no matter what, they can eat and eat and they are still skinny.

Good morning everyone! Just caught up reading all the posts since last night. Good to see everyone, including ScareyCarrie, who I have not seen in a while! Before I got up, I turned on the weather channel and they were giving the 5 day forecast (right at the end) and calmly said tomorrow's high is 105°. As if they were saying, Thursday's high, 75°.

105° ?!?! I know a lot of the US is in the 90's this week, but 105 is ridiculous for Virginia on the, what? 3rd full day of summer? sheesh.

Last night I was looking for a monkey's original monkey image, as they had asked me to make a mini avatar for them for 4th of July, and I don't have their original, and came across this. Thought it was funny! I did not make this, but am posting it because it looks like everyone needs a laugh today.

OMG, how funny  LOL   That weather is awful, don't you just want to slap the weather people sometimes? I swear the one channel here the lady will say we are going to have a great day today, and it is in the upper 80's, that is not a great day to me  LOL    Stay inside and keep cool, one good reason to not have to go anywhere.

NoRose, first and foremost any monkey that knows you knows you would never ever intentionally hurt anyone.  You are such a good person.  Second I must say that it is heartbreaking what happened to you at 18.  People are so cruel and I am guessing it was a girl who called you that (girls are ruthless and hateful at that age) I am so sorry you had to experience that kind of pain.  Beauty is what is inside, you are beautiful.

All is good Scarey.  I agree, our society is so focused on weight and looks it is frightening, it has become an obsession and it casts an impression on girls at a very young age, it doesn't matter who you are as long as you are thin and beautiful, what ever happened to being healthy and smart?  Sad to say that doesn't make people rich, it is a multi billion dollar industry that has affected so many, just look at the young girls who are having cosmetic surgery in their 20's - that is crazy.  I used to be stick thin and now that I am approaching 50 I have gained my share of weight, lost my waistline and girly figure but I am ok with it - it is what it is.

June 23: This image from video provided by BP PLC early Wednesday morning shows oil continuing to gush millions of gallons a day, from the broken wellhead, at the site of the Deepwater Horizon oil well in the Gulf of Mexico.

Two people involved in the Gulf oil spill cleanup effort have died, the U.S. Coast Guard reported.  ME: HOW AND FROM WHAT????? I am out there cleaning it up when it hits....
Meantime, the Coast Guard says BP has been forced to remove a cap that was containing some of the oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico.

Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen says an underwater robot bumped into the venting system. That sent gas rising through vent that carries warm water down to prevent ice-like crystals from forming in the cap.

Allen says the cap has been removed and crews are checking to see if crystals have formed before putting it back on. In the meantime, a different system is stilling burning oil on the surface.

Before the problem with the containment cap, it had collected about 700,000 gallons of oil in the previous 24 hours. Another 438,000 gallons was burned.

Anita Vandersloot makes me sick.  How dare her say she wanted to give Beth a hug and tell her they did all they could do - OMG I want to slap her, what phony liar.  Now she wants to play nice?????  You wait she will be the victim in the Joran saga.  She knew dam well her son was a POS from a young age, she makes it sound like since Natalee's disappearance that he has changed and been thru a lot.  I love how she says Joran "can" be gentle........hmmm......can?  That says a lot. 

I know, it would be best for her to shut up. I'm sure there are many violent people that have moments of being gentle and kind.

personally, i think president obama doesnt belong involved in our war matters, let the one calling all the shots out there, living it and seeing it day after day, deal with it, i am not sure what all he said about obama and his ppl,, but in his shoes, i believe he has alot of rights, and should get more lienency and pull in the matter, untill u have lived in his shoes then you dont deserve to make the calls for him, obama isnt losing his ppl, he doesnt even know the men and women in the army, this General would be the one who knows what is going on. i could only imagine what this war would be like if we fired this general and put one of obamas ppl in his position
