That's really sad.  I was alone in childbirth.  I remember that feeling.  It is sad, to know that the person that got you there is not with you.  I guess he would feel better if he had not killed Stephany and she could be there with him now in his loneliness.  What a d*ickhead.

(CNN) -- A U.S. federal grand jury on Wednesday indicted Joran van der Sloot on charges of wire fraud and extortion in connection with a plot to sell information about the whereabouts of Natalee Holloway's remains in exchange for $250,000, officials said.

An arrest warrant on these same charges had been issued for van der Sloot earlier this month. The charges are unrelated to the killing of a student in Peru in which van der Sloot is the suspect. He is in Peruvian jail.

Wednesday's indictment alleges that van der Sloot exploited "Beth Holloway's fear that she would never find her daughter's body or know what happened to her unless she paid him $250,000," the Alabama U.S. Attorney's office said.

The Dutchman is accused of making false promises that he would reveal the location of Natalee Holloway's body if the money was transferred to him.

According to the indictment, Beth Holloway wired $15,000 to a bank account van der Sloot held in the Netherlands, and through an attorney gave him an additional $10,000 in person.

Once he had the initial $25,000, van der Sloot showed the attorney, John Kelly, where Natalee Holloway's remains allegedly were hidden. It turned out to be false information, the indictment states.

The indictment seeks for van der Sloot to forfeit $25,100, which includes $100 Beth Holloway initially transferred to van der Sloot to confirm his account.

"I want to applaud the FBI's work on this case," U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance said. "Because of the agents' dedicated efforts, we are able to bring charges against someone who sought profit in a mother's grief."

In Peru, van der Sloot's attorney on Wednesday filed an appeal to a ruling that upheld the admissibility of his confession and the legality of his detention in the death of Stephany Flores, 21.

One month after his daughter's killing, Peruvian businessman Ricardo Flores met with a judge Wednesday to give a formal statement about the facts surrounding the case, family members told CNN.

Ricardo Flores helped search for Stephany Flores when she didn't come home on May 30 after a night out at a casino. Her body was later found in a hotel room in Lima, Peru, registered to Joran van der Sloot. He's been charged with first-degree murder and robbery in the case.

Flores met with Judge Carlos Morales Cordova in Lima.

As the presiding judge, Morales has the duty to be the chief fact-finder, legal experts told CNN. Morales is getting statements from other potential witnesses, as well.

Van der Sloot, 22, is trying to slow down the legal process by appealing his incarceration and trying to nullify a confession he gave.

One judge already denied his claim, but van der Sloot's attorney said his client will fight all the way to the Peruvian Supreme Court and international courts, if necessary. Wednesday's appeal was the first step.

The Flores family will hold a memorial service Wednesday night in Lima to mark the one month anniversary of Stephany Flores' killing.

Van der Sloot, a Dutch citizen, was twice arrested in connection with the disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway in Aruba in 2005, but he has not been charged in that case.

Police said van der Sloot admitted that he attacked Flores on May 30 after she read an e-mail in his computer connected with the Holloway case. After killing Flores, police say, van der Sloot took money and bank cards from her wallet and fled to Chile, where he was arrested on June 3.

He was returned the next day to Peru.

Van der Sloot is being held at the Miguel Castro Castro Prison, in a high-security area where only two of the 10 cells are occupied and he has no contact with the general prison population.

Peru: Father of murdered young Dutchman declared in case against detained in Chile
Ricardo Flores declined to comment on the testimony he gave to the trial judge who has been in Lima against Joran van der Sloot.

The Peruvian businessman Ricardo Flores, father of the girl Stephany Flores, allegedly killed by the Dutchman Joran van der Sloot a month ago, said today before the judge in the process used abroad for murder.

Flores declined to comment on the statements he gave to Judge Carlos Morales, head of the Fourth Criminal Court of Lima.

"The only thing is I inform you that today is the day I met my daughter died a month, we wanted to come to comply with this subpoena, and I will not declare more about the process because it is what they asked us," said Flores told reporters on leaving the courthouse.

The family of the student of business administration today convened a church to a month after his death.

Van der Sloot, 22, confessed to police that killed Stephany Flores, 21, on Sunday 30 May in the hotel room he occupied in Lima, after having been together playing poker in a casino nearby. It is also the prime suspect in the disappearance of the American girl Natalee Holloway in Aruba in 2005, a case that was never solved.

Subsequently, the defense questioned the legitimacy of police questioning in which the perpetrator said Flores. On Friday a judge dismissed the habeas corpus filed by Dutchman looking to be declared invalid police questioning.

The European-who was deported on June 4 from Chile to Peru, is being held in the Miguel Castro Castro prison since 11 June, the same day they opened criminal proceedings for homicide and simple larceny, faces charges that 15 to 35 years in prison.

I hope I am wrong but ... somehow I believe that following his trial Joran van der Sloot will be afforded extradition to Dutch or Aruban soil.

Holland/Aruba cannot chance that Joran will talk ... talk and reveal all the dynamics encompassing the Natalee Holloway case.  The motivating force will be the big bucks that media sources are willing to pay ... big bucks that will afford Joran van der Sloot both protection and comfort in a Peruvian lockup.

People, he will never be in a prison like this, aren't you smart enough to know this? MONEY talks over there. The warden, guards are ALL corrupt and if an inmate pays them, he will be fine. He will pay to have his own cell, pay for guard protection, for decent food, etc. That's how it works. He seems to be such a mama's boy and gets whatever he wants, so I highly doubt mama is gonna let him be raped or poisoned in prison. No such luck. Where he is at right now, in his own cell near the director's office it said. Only 2 others are celled along there also, one a wealthy Columbian drug lord and the other was a wealthy banker. They pay money to survive and live as decent as possible. If you can't afford it, you ARE screwed.

Hi Janet,
Kinda weird but this is the exact same thing my hubby keeps saying.Joran will be protected simply because of this being such a high profile case and money is no object it seems concerning that protection. Why shootfire, the Aruban LE folks will probably even send alittle cash along themselves just to make sure he keeps his mouth shut... Can we say blackmail?

Today is a month after Stephany's dead. I believe that today was very hard for Mr Flores to go to the PLE to give his statement.....In Peru is common to remember a deceased person  a month and a year after somebody's dead with a ceremony at church.

That is true, corruption is everywhere and somehow that monster will be ok for a while. Stephany's father has a lot of friends in Peru and he is power...I know that his friends will make him a favor.

PVV MP Hero Brinkman was no longer spokesman for Antillean and Aruban Affairs. He will be succeeded by Eric Lucassen, since June 17 in the House is for the PVV.

Facing the Worldwide Lucassen said that he was the acting is the work of Brinkman to adopt the standing parliamentary committee Dutch Antillean and Aruban Affairs (Naaz). Brinkman also remains formally a member of the committee, but he is focusing on Interior.

POK
The Netherlands Antilles and Aruba Brinkman made in recent years for much commotion. His critical attitude and negative statements about the islands were not thanked him. Low point was the cancellation of the parliamentary consultations between the three Kingdom Partners (POK) in 2008, because Brinkman for the Antillean delegation was no longer welcome.

In January 2009 POK of Brinkman was in Aruba in the Dutch delegation put after insults to the address of Aruba (see photo above). However the commission says Brinkman Naaz with pleasure to have done and "a great commission" to find. But he is happy with his new portfolio.

Positive approach
Succeeded by Eric Lucassen (35) has a military background. He was a sergeant in the Royal Army. In recent years he worked as a teacher of digital music production. He wants to dispel the image of a one-issue party PVV and 'with a positive approach to getting things done'.

I guess it will hinge on what her family will except concerning revenge..Maybe if they want him dead,it will be done..Surely they wont be ok with Joran living his sentence under protection but the way things go with sloot, who knows....Sad That's part of what chaps my hind-end so bad; He's a slimy, slippery snake in the grass..
