Klaas, it's time to turn words into action once again.  Let's get a petition for everyone here to sign, a petition that can be circulated to all our friends, a bulk e-mail so that we can sign saying we will boycott any products or any networks who pay any vdSloot attorney or who knowingly interview the attorneys or the mother of Joran, his brothers, any "reporters" or newspaper employees in Aruba, who are doing the bidding for Joran.  Let's get a petition and circulate it, and pass it along to the media outlets.  IT IS IMPERATIVE that we do this for Natalee and for Stephany and those unnamed Oriental and South American girls who have not had a voice on their behalf.

I agree with you 100% in principle, but my experience is that complaints to the media are counter productive.  The media regards ANY response to its reports as viewer/reader interest, which, in their eyes, is a good thing.

OTOH, I have personally seen one local (but much larger than Aruba) threatened advertiser boycott which was so effective it got media people fired.  It was started by one guy who gathered and posted the email addresses of the Presidents and/or CEOs of the advertisers and advised people to write very POLITE letters explaining they could no longer in good conscious purchase products from companies who supported that newspaper's editorial position on a certain subject.  I have no doubt that only a few advertisers contacted the newspaper about their concern, but it caused an almost immediate apology followed by dismissal of personnel.

If someone could produce a list of the email addresses in question regarding JVDS, a few hundred or maybe a few thousand emails might make a difference.  Just say what you think, but be polite and avoid any semblance of profanity.

One other thought.  It seems that the value of an interview of JVDS would have already dropped to almost zero.  Although Tacopina might be able to stir up some interest, surely there's a limit on how many times the media will fall for the "true story" from Joran.  At least I hope so.

I think that's a great idea, Tyler.  Just not sure exactly how to do it.  And we know they will go for the almighty ratings.  How to get them to listen to us instead???  If they had any morals they wouldn't be paying these people in the first place.

Melody and Anita just made more than they ever thought to have at one tinme in their lives, I am sure.  And now Joran has this idea he will get a million.

Someone else posted they think Joran killed Stephany in part for the media attention and I tend to agree that this was part of it--among other things like his being flat broke.  But I think he did this on the anniversary date of killing Natalee for the media attention, thinking he'd figure out a way to evade punishement.

I don't think Joran actually realizes it took a lot of people covering for him for him to have evaded before.  He actually thinks he committed the perfect crime.  He is too stupid to have realized he couldn't have gotten away with anything without the help of a whole corrupt little island
.
I agree completely!

There is a corrupted group in the Netherlands .. It is not just little Aruba..
Aruba only exists for the purpose of money laundering and tax havens for extreme rich and within that group corruption exists. They are protecting Joran, even today.
BUT I agree Joran did this for financial gain and he feels he is smart enough and connected well enough to get a minimum sentence or completely free.
Like Beth said..It runs all the way to the Hauge. It actually goes further then the Hauge.
It is a hopeless situation because people can not come to turns with it. Joran knows that and plays on it.

"F" ing corrupt United Nations which should Bush should have bombed and said, "oops" when he was POTUS.

From all appearances, the UN is the most corrupt entity in the world.

I don't know if this is significant.  But couldn't help notice the name of his employer.

Do you think he is a lawyer already, or still just a student?  I noticed him too, but Dury didn't ring a bell.  I thought it was a similar name to the boat maker we discussed a while back but didn't think it was spelled that way.

We have never known how Joran's "daury" from the Range Rover tape was spelled.

I think that Johnny Zedan's is maybe a band...not sure.  It just caught my eye.

Family and friends remember Peru murder victim

Posted: 05:31 PM ET

Lima, Peru - Today marks one month since  the murder of 21-year old Stephany Flores. So much is happening on the legal front and personally with her close friends and family.

Ricardo Flores, the father of Stephany, is meeting with Judge Carlos Morales Cordova, to give his formal “declaration.” In the United States we would call this a sworn affidavit or statement , but what makes this all so unusual by American standards, is that in our courts the prosecution builds their case and investigates along with police who would also be interviewing potential witnesses.

Here in Peru, although the prosecution is still very much involved with the investigation, it is the judge who is the primary fact finder. Although the Peruvian penal code is gradually changing to give prosecutors more power, at this point it is Judge Cordova who personally takes those formal statements.

Mr. Flores, along with the rest of his family, were the ones who alerted police that Stephany had not come home on May 29, 2010, and aided law enforcement in the search for his daughter, whose body was ultimately found on June 2, 2010, in the hotel room registered to Joran van der Sloot.

The family will have a memorial service Wednesday night.

On the defense front, Maximo Altez, the attorney for van der Sloot filed his formal appeal today in the 20th “juzgado” court here in Lima. This is the same court that rejected his Writ of Habeas Corpus. If they do not rule in his favor this time, he has told us he will be going to the highest court in the country, Peru’s Supreme Court.

On a very personal note, I recently met with close girlfriends to Stephany Flores. They have never come forward to speak publicly, but wanted to share with me their thoughts and memories of their dear friend.

There were a lot of tears, some laughter and much anger that the life of Stephany was taken, when she had her entire future before her.

They told me she was so intelligent and had tremendous ambitions for great success in the business arena. She once wrote a list of 23 businesses that she wanted to succeed in, and then checked them off one by one as she decided “yes” I will pursue this one, or “no” I’m not interested in this.

They said she came from a very privileged family, but you wouldn’t know it by talking with her, and was extremely giving along with being so very humble about her family’s wealth.

Friends told me she was extremely anti-drug and when I told them (to their surprise) that official reports say amphetamines were found in Stephany’s system, they said Stephany wouldn’t associate with people who did drugs and was adamant about her feelings on the issue.

They said they still cannot believe she is gone and that the University of Lima is now missing one of its brightest scholars. They say this is one reason why they are so angry.

The last thing Stephany said to them was that she was the happiest she had ever been in her life. She had her new car, her goals, her adored family and her friends.

Her friends say they don’t understand why she went to the room with van der Sloot, but do not believe it was to play online poker. They wish they could turn back time and stop her from going… but they never thought something like this would happen to someone so dear. They do not believe she even had a chance to fight back that night.

When I asked them all, if convicted, how much time should van der Sloot serve? Their answer was a unanimous “life in prison.” They know, however, a life term is rare in Peru and are very concerned, if convicted, van der Sloot will actually serve even less than ten years behind bars in Peru.

Remembering the life of Stephany Flores

Posted: 10:14 AM ET

Lima, Peru – Almost 300 people filled a Lima temple Wednesday, to remember Stephany Flores on the one month anniversary of her death.  Flores' father, Ricardo Flores, told friends and family who attended the memorial that parents can learn from the death of his daughter.

"Sometimes we're wrong and I have been wrong a lot. I have permitted my kids to know the good and not the bad; my kids have everything but also we have to take away from them sometimes," Flores said in Spanish.

Flores choked up at the end of his brief address as he asked members of Peru's National Police Chorus to sing "Eternal Love" while a series of photographs depicting his daughter from childhood to adulthood flashed on a projector screen.

One of Flores' longtime friends remembered the 21-year-old as "a great friend" with a "contagious smile." Alexandra Infante said Flores was nicknamed "Flowers."

Carolina Jorge, a sister-in-law of Flores, described the 21-year-old as always being filled with love and happiness. Flores' younger brother, Ricardo Flores Ramirez, read a passage from Isaiah. The hour long service was one of three held on Wednesday. It took place at, Al Templo de la Alianza Cristiana y Misionera de Monterrico, the temple where Stephany's mother worships.

Michael Jackson Lawyer to Defend Joran Van Der Sloot!

Van Der Sloot Allowed Three Defense Lawyers
Joran Van der Sloot is accused of killing Stephany Flores in a Lima, Peru hotel room on May 30th, 2010. The date is the five year anniversary of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba.

He is the chief suspect in that case also and has now been indicted in the US for wire fraud and extortion of Holloway's mother. He allegedly offered to reveal the location of Natalee's body and the circumstances of her
death in exchange for $250,000. He was reportedly given $25,000 as a down payment.

According to reports by Dutch newspapers, Joran Van der Sloot can now count on three lawyers to defend him in Peruvian court this September.

One of those lawyers is Joseph Tacopina who successfully defended Michael Jackson in a child abuse case in 2005.

Peruvian authorities want to avoid suspicions of legal inequality and allowing the appointment of three attorneys.

According to the Dutch newspapers his three man team will consist of Joseph Tacopina, a Peruvian and a foreign lawyer and will aim for his acquittal.

I have been reading that Tacopina represented Michael Jackson in his child molestation case. I certainly don't remember that. Turns out, he reresented an "associate" of Michael Jackson - not the singer himself.

From Joe's own site:

Hi Monkeys!

I'm behind. My son's knee surgery got complicated with a blood clot. He seems to be getting a little better, and I'm catching up.

Ohhhhhh, I hate to read that Tacopino is going to be involved with the case again! I just can't stand him and I don't look forward to watching him prattle on about a set up or whatever he'll come up with. IMO, he'll be reduced to claiming Joran's crazy and shouldn't be held responsible for his actions. There's just too much hard evidence that he killed Stephany to wiggle out of it.

An insanity defense won't work either. Joran exhibited way too much conscienceness of guilt after the murder for that to work.

Anita might qualify to be insane, but Joran won't!
