FYI - In the event that SM goes down and doesn't come back up for a long period of time (like an entire day), it's likely because the upgrade to the new server is being done.  It may happen this week.  Don't have an exact date yet but thought I'd give you all the heads up.

I wish I had time to read back and catch up but another busy workday today - but daughter just emailed this article - the Enquirer and it's probably been posted already.

http://www.nationalenquirer.com/van_der_sloot_thai_sex_slave_probe_natalee_holloway/celebrity/68941

Thanks None.

I am going into town today to have my hair cut.  I just finished covering up up all that grey with my trusty Toasted Almond Natural Instincts ... that grey which is the result of eldest son's shenanigans as a teenager ... not old age.

I do believe that while in town I will hit our Walmart ... purchase a National Enquirer ... take advantage of the carrot muffin and tea special at the indoor McDonalds and ... read the article about other possible victims of Joran van der Sloot.  Alone but not lonely.

When you think of the special privileges afforded Joran van der Sloot at all the Aruban casinos and clubs ...

1.  Could it be that underage Joran, the Kalpoes and the sons of the elite who were detained as suspects in the Natalee Holloway case were all participants in the activities that fed Aruba's underground economy ... Aruba's underground economy that encompasses pornography, sex trade, gambling drugs, drugs and alcohol?

2.  Could it be that Joran's training in Aruba was a stepping stone to his involvement in the sex trade in Thailand?

3.  Could the far reaching implication of the exposed truth imply that Joran will continue to be protected and ... the eventual return to Aruba from Peru is a given?

Have a good day all.

Joran van der Sloot - Suspect Statement - June 9, 2005

To your question with whom I regularly go to Carlos & Charlies, I answer you that I regularly go there with "Freddy ZEDAN" and "Jaime CARASQUIA". Freddy is a Venezuelan and Jaime is a Columbian. The boy named "Koen GOTENBOS" also regularly goes out with us. The names of my three friends are in the memory of my mobile phone. Freddy is under the name "Fefi" and Koen under the name "Cul".

After that we drove straight to Carlos & Charlies. Deepak was the driver but I cannot remember now who was sitting beside him. I do not remember now if it was Satish or me. I estimate that we arrived at Carlos & Charlies between 00.15 and 00.30 hours. Deepak parked his car on the parking lot behind Carlos & Charlies and after that we walked into the building of Carlos & Charlies. I don't have to pay because I have a VIP pass. With my VIP pass Deepak and Satish were also allowed in.

Deepak Kalpoe - Suspect Statement - June 13, 2005

At some moment in time Andre had come over to where I was and had greeted me. Andre asked me to come inside. I did go inside. I did not play, but did look at the cards of Joran and Guido.

At some given moment in time a tourist who was sitting at Joran's table got angry. The tourist thought that we were looking at the cards of other players and signaling/deciding for Joran when he should play or not. It lead to a disagreement between Joran and the tourist. The manager of the Radisson Casino came over and everything calmed down.

Joran van der Sloot - Suspect Statement - June 9, 2005

After I had refused to dance with Natalee Deepak, Satish and myself walked to the bar. There we bought a "Yard Whisky Coke". Such a drink costs U.S. $ 12,-. It is a plastic cup and it comes in different colours. I payed for all three drinks

Deepak Kalpoe - Suspect Statement - June 10, 2005

To your question as to where we take the girls we pick up, I can state the following. Sometimes the girls stay at "Carlos & Charlies" or sometimes we take them to their hotel.

To your question was to what exactly happens when we have picked up the girls, I can state the following. Just kissing and dancing.

To your question whether sexual intercourse has happened, I can state the following. Yes, it has happened.

To your question whether it ever happened that all of us, so in one room, had sexual intercourse, I can state the following. It has happened.

Satish Kalpoe - Suspect Statement - June 24, 2005

The second time was when Joran, my brother and I took the camera to Freddy’s house. We delivered the camera to Freddy, and afterwards all four of us ate Chinese in the area of Freddy’s house. Freddy also lives in Montanja

Freddy's Attorney - Diana Emerencia

FOX News - September 01, 2005
Aruba Suspects Accused of Taking Sex Photos of Another Girl

The Kalpoe brothers were released July 4 and rearrested last week with a friend of the three young men, Freddy Alexander Zedan-Arambatzis (search), 21.

Zedan-Arambatzis, who is not suspected of involvement in the Holloway case, is accused of taking photos of a minor female in "tempting poses" and of showing the photos to other people, said his lawyer, Diana Emerencia. He is also suspected of having unspecified "physical contact" with the girl, she said.

The Kalpoe brothers and van der Sloot are also suspected of involvement in the incident, which allegedly occurred before Holloway disappeared, Emerencia said.

Thanks Klaas.  I must have missed the previous posting of the NE article.

When the Peter Devries expose' was revealed ... my immediate thought process was ... "This young man's interest in the sex trade did not evolve from a vacuum ... there had to have been a foundation."

Michael Jackson's Attorney Not Defending Van Der Sloot
By Lupe
Created 07/06/2010 - 8:32am

Michael Jackson’s famed lawyer Joe Tacopina is NOT representing Joran van der Sloot once again, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Reports had surfaced that Tacopina - who represented van de Sloot in the Natalee Holloway disappearance case - was now part of his legal team challenging his murder charge of Peruvian student Stephany Flores Ramirez.

But a spokesperson for the New York-based attorney told RadarOnline.com: “Joe Tacopina is not back on the Joran van der Sloot case - in fact he was never on it.”

Van der Sloot is reportedly still being represented by Peruvian lawyer Maximo Altez. His Peruvian attorney is claiming that the Dutchman’s original lawyer was unqualified for the job.

"We have searched the name of Luz Romero Chinchay in the list of public defenders provided by the Ministry of Justice and her name was not on the list," Altez told the Associated Press. "We do not know why the police called this lawyer. We want to know who paid for her because my client did not."

As in the U.S., Peruvian law requires that a criminal suspect be provided with a public defender if he can not afford his own lawyer. The public defenders work for the Ministry of Justice.

Working on behalf of van der Sloot, Altez filed suit against Chinchay Friday, alleging abuse of authority and conspiracy to commit a crime.

He is also suing Col. Miguel Canila, the homicide squad chief who led the interrogation resulting in van der Sloot's confession.

Colorful New York-based lawyer, Tacopina is no stranger to working on cases abroad. He became famous in Italy through the Parmalat affair - a mega-fraud case involving a dairy consortium, and through the proposed takeover (eventually abandoned) of Bologna Football Club by an American consortium.

In 2005, he succeeded as part of the legal team which got Michael Jackson acquitted of child abuse.

Joran Van Der Sloot Confesses To Murder

In the case of the missing Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway, he defended the interests of Joran van der Sloot in Aruba.

Van der Sloot remains a suspect in the Holloway case too - if found guilty of the Ramirez murder, he faces 15 to 35 years in prison.

Maybe Joe Tacopina should have kept his mouth shut instead of making excuses for Joran and making statements that supported a change in Joran's demeanor or behavior from the one he knew before.

I haven't checked lately, but I would venture to guess that Taco still can't practice international law, but maybe he'll be in the ranks if Joran lives to stand trial for the extortion and wire fraud charge here in the US.

Thanks Dana for posting Taco's email note, and thanks Klaas & Jo-An for posting that article regarding this.

http://www.bookmakersinc.com/betting-site/betting-shop-uk-odds-onvandersloot/
July 6,2010  UK

The odds on the outcome of the Joran Van der Sloot case are very negative for Van der Sloot’s survival. If he’s sentenced in Peru for the murder of Stephany Flores there is little hope of Van der Sloot coming out of it alive. There are betting shops UK with odds that don’t give him much of a chance. Any betting site will tell you that these odds are really under toned.

The odds on an overdose are -130 and this doesn’t include suicide.

The odds on Van der Sloot being murdered are -147.

The odds on Van der Sloot committing suicide are -185.

The odds on Van der Sloot’s having an accident while evading authorities or shot by the police are +135.

And the odds on Van der Sloot dying of natural causes are +300.

There are odds that Van der Sloot doesn’t live to see his trial +175 and odds that he never talks at +800, most betting shops UK and betting sites don’t give him much of a future.

If he gets sentenced he will definitely not be living the life of luxury that he is used to. More than likely he will be sentenced up to 35 years in a Peruvian prison and will be eligible for parole after 7 to 17 years, and in one betting shop UK they think that all these wagers will be settled in the near future.

One expert puts little hope on Van der Sloot’s coming out of this alive.

According to the expert, “He’ll be put in Lurigancho Prison, which is the worst of the worst. They should have a sign above the door there saying, ‘All those who pass this way leave all hope behind.’ ”

Said expert mentioned that Lurigancho is in a world of its own.

“There are 35 guys in a room there,” he says. “They don’t have beds, they go to the bathroom on the floor and the showers run once a week for 15 minutes. Fifty percent of the inmates have AIDS or tuberculosis, and you can die from eating the food.”

If Van der Sloot is convicted and sent to Lurigancho Prison, he will be in a very dangerous situation, “Let me put it to you like this,” the expert says, “You have 10,000 guys in a prison with 3,000 beds. Eighty percent of these guys have nothing. A hundred bucks will carry them for four months, so they’ll stand in line [to be paid] to cut his throat.”

Thank you San for editing my post and thanks to all for updates.

I have a feeling that it may be a little quiet for a while in regards to Joran but ... then again it may not.  My Mom alway said that stuff often happens when you least expect.

I just received this message from Joe T

Sorry Dana...I am not doing interviews but let me state that I am NOT going to peru and am not working on the case in peru. How these rumors get started is beyond me.

I STILL say Tacopina wasn't ever Michael Jackson's attorney! (it was Mark Garragos)

FYI - In the event that SM goes down and doesn't come back up for a long period of time (like an entire day), it's likely because the upgrade to the new server is being done.  It may happen this week.  Don't have an exact date yet but thought I'd give you all the heads up.

Thanks for the heads-up!

IF It does go down you can play the game where you attempt to get Joran to confess by electrocuting him in the chair..

He wasn't and it even says that on his website.  He was only a member of the same firm at that time.
