Tyler:

Never heard that there is any connection between Jimmy Buffett's family & Warren Buffett.  He and his family are local.  Everyone adored his late parents and love his sister, Lucy who has a great place down at the Gulf:  www.lulusathomeport.com/

His liberal politics are not mine and he's loved here only for his music and fun personality-he composed just about all of his lyrics.  He is a creative genius.

When he was a youngster he would make all the neighborhood kids living in the neighborhood of the grandmother a friend of mine line up in her garage & listen to him sing & entertain them.  They would roll their eyes and wish they were riding their bikes or playing hopscotch instead. lol  Little did they know how famous he would become.

Yes, his father and Warren are brothers.  He has made so much money and lost more and when he was down on his luck, he would prattle off some liberal crap and old Warren would pull him up by his socks.

No kidding never, ever heard that-are you certain??!    His parents were just plain folks--His dad worked for Scott Paper Company until his retirement & I can't remember what his mom did, but everyone thought the world of them-very down to earth and not pretentious - Jimmy built a great home for them on Mobile Bay & helped Lucy with her restaurant career.
VERY OFF TOPIC
Actually, it evolved from Jimmy Buffet's lyrics to "Banana Republic" describing American Expatriots. It was VERY fitting to the topic.

I know you are right about that, Wreck. They would rip him into confetti on the streets! I haven`t ever pissed somebody off so bad that they felt the need to attack
me with a dirty lettuce. I hope to never do it either... as long as I shall live.

The mere fact that he is even ASKING proves he is truly nuts. (I hope that doesn't help his case!!)

wreck – you are very gracious. Thank you.

I wish that posters would refrain from adding political commentary to these topics that are devoted to missing and murdered persons. It is so out of place.

Not criticizing, just wishing

Onward. I think if Joran got out on bail or whatever it is in Peru - he would have a lot of help jumping bail. Unfortunately he has a fan base -- infamous murderers always attract groupies. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are plotting ways to help him depart Peru even as I type this. A few of them probably want to leave WITH him.

Now, as to where he could ultimately escape, I have no idea. I suspect he is one of the most recognizable people on the planet.

He could always go to Aruba or the NL.  He seems to be very popular there.

REMINDER

Got it. Beth on Greta, November 19, 2008:

HOLLOWAY: Yes. And Greta, I was just wanting to say that, you know, like I said, it's been a long time, but it's never too late for justice. And I'd be good with a "Midnight Express" prison anywhere for Joran.

Good Afternoon, Monkeys!

Klaas, do you think the new server will still allow us to search the archives as well as now?

Not that I can ever find anything anyway but some can do so.

The forum software should remain exactly the same, the only thing changing is the hardware.  So your answer would be yes, it will be as it is now.

CBB - I think the suggestion was for a Post of the Day "avatar" - maybe a blingee-encrusted medal or trophy.

Only problem is that we have quite a few terrific posts on the same day. Well, sometimes.
