Yeah...what the hell was that post about??? pizzed me off when I read it..what was that poster implying or did it just come out wrong???? either way, uncalled for!

sometimes I spend hours on here, sometimes not...as long as my family is taken care of, there is food in my fridge and pantry, no bodys business...I feel like being on here having coffee with friends here is no different than having coffee in my neighbors kitchen,,which I don't do since I have no close neighbors..
sometimes this is the social life of a lot of monkeys and it should be respected as such..
Nonetheless, unless some one is on here all the time themselves and stalking posters, how do they know who is on here when??? take it as a compliment Rosie that someone is interested enough in what you have to say to notice your posts....

I have no idea, and yes it is like having coffee with friends, which I don't do either, and believe me would rather have coffee with you guys then any of my neighbors    It is a social life for some of us.

Hi NRCG....

I don't know what is going on....I can only read and run these days...new job...not home all day like before...but before I went back to work this thread and all the great monkey friends helped me from going insane.

Also Rose you always have a great view on everything...so logical I feel like in every case in the missing children threads you look at the whole picture and try  to find a clue every  situation so that these children can be found.

Deenie..you really are lovely!

Green Eyes...have a wonderful day! what is on the agenda?

4Donks..maybe the donks are just too warm to eat...I lose weight in the summer cause I eat fresh fruits and veggies more and don't quite have a big appetite like in the fall and winter...maybe the donks are just not as hungry...try not to worry...
Thanks you're probably right. It's Lumpy I worry about (far right in avi) He was so sick when I got him that the vet thought he should be put down.He has Cushings, had foundered with absesses and thrush in his feet and was about 200 to 250 lbs overweight. That's why he is called Lumpy, he had huge lumps of fat all over him and a broken crest. He could hardly walk, could not lay down or have a dust bath. Now he runs, bucks, lays down and rolls over. Today when I was grooming him he is so thin that his spine is prominent. I guess I'm just overprotective but he is such a little character and just makes me smile with his antics.

Canning is lots of work. Hubs was going to grow his fruits and veggies to can when we moved here. We have been here 4 years and so far nothing.
This is the first year in my 50+ years that I haven't canned anything! On the one hand, it's a lot less work (that I'm still not up to speed for), on the other hand, it's disheartening. I'm afraid to go see how the beans in our garden are doing...I have a feeling they peaked while I was in the UP. Oh well, I can always make pickled/garlic green beans...I hate them, but the guys love em.

I WILL BE UP TO SPEED BY APPLE TIME! I haven't had to make applesauce in 3 years (I got "sauced" for a month, canned over 200 quarts!) but we're running low and it's great fun. It will be a good thing to do after a long day at work, after supper, totally trash the kitchen, then get hubs to clean up after me! I get free apples, any variety I want, so I HAVE to do the sauce. That, and mine is the only kind my grandkids will eat

Poor little Alexis, but you will keep her company, and maybe she can have an extra piece of cake    How fun, the kids on the next block have a bouncy house, and I have stopped and watched the kids, they were having so much fun, and screaming and running in and out  And the backpack and clothes and scooter, they make such cute scooters for kids of that age. Those are all really pretty names for the girls. Have a fun time today.

Hi Monks--
Everything I'm responding too is far back so I'll just forge ahead here.
4 Donks---Hilarious comment about Obama.  Yes, the polls could do that to him and I hope Michelle Antoinette took a lot of Immodium with them.
I hope Lumpy is not sick, just doesn't like the heat. I don't know anything about donkeys.  Would he like cheesecake? I've found that cheesecake does fix a lot of things.

And Tevye, I did stay at the Grand Hotel.  I don't know when you last saw it, but three years ago it had become shabby and the food wasn't good.  There were a couple of cute shops in the basement, but that's all I liked and I'm usually easy to please. I got up early, skipped breakfast and walked down to the dock.  It was downhill all the way, so not hard.  I had left most of my stuff in the car at the ferry terminal on the mainland.

I liked Mackinac City, though, and there seem to be a lot of English there because many restaurants offer Cornish pasties.  And it is pasties, not pastries and some even a Plowman's lunch. I don't think I'll be going back, but it was interesting nevertheless.

I haven't been to Mackinac Island since a kid, do they still have it where cars aren't allowed. Remember horse drawn carriages, and since I'm highly allergic, remember having hives.

Babybear, here is more on the story.   Parts of the Tisbury Great Pond remained closed yesterday but others were open after new testing brought the bacteria counts back down to acceptable levels. Powers said he couldn’t say whether the first family should avoid swimming in the pond during their 10-day Vineyard vacation.

“It’s not my job to recommend or not recommend whether or not to go in the water,” he said. “I just get the numbers and take the appropriate action.”

But when we asked another town official whether or not it was safe for the prez to take a dip in the pond, he was a little more informative.

“Depends on whether or not he likes to swim in poop,” joked the longtime islander, who shall remain nameless.

More than 200 Massachusetts beaches have been closed due to high bacteria readings this summer. The high counts are usually caused by sewage or storm water overflow but could also be caused by domestic or farm animals and wildlife.

OMG! I am laughing so hard - my hubby and 4 year old decided to can tomatoes. Problem is he has no idea how to do it. So he is doing things very strange. Trying to core hot tomatoes after the boiling water bath. I tried to tell him how to do it but, being a man, he thinks he knows better!  I will supervise enough to make sure they are not dangerous and let him have his fun. Perhaps he will know why I rarely can anymore!   Monkey Devil!
The only thing I know about canning tomatoes, is opening them up with the can opener.
Me too JSM     But my one grandma canned, but I never really paid attention, was afraid she wanted to teach me how     JSM you don't have a mean bone in your body  an angelic monkey
Hunts in a can. My one grama made plum jelly but never canned. Thanks No Rose and you don't have a mean bone in your body either.  an angelic monkey

Hi mymonkey. ITA with everything you said about Deenie and No Rose. Hope all is well with you!  an angelic monkey
