OMG I just checked the weather and it's and 108
Ours is 95. Did the kids go back to school today? Sure hope they have the schools well air conditioned.  When it is that hot even with the air on, it is hard to cool the house off, and lets not even talk about the energy bill

I'm with your hubs Green Eyes, I have to have my cable, we have hundreds of channels, and half the time there isn't anything on  but have to have it. Watch a lot of old movies.
And Lucy, Sanford and Son etc...... TV Land.  I don't watch much TV in the summer but come winter I want every channel I can get.

Bearly Wrote: Green Eyes, I am glad your granddaughter updated her phone, she can do that on line too, I believe.

We found that out when we got there. But we didn't know what was wrong with it to begin with.  The other problem was her moms computer with all the apple ipod stuff on it has crashed. Then my dang server has such a low limit on downloads  we couldn't have download all the updates anyway.
I was so excited because we found a server that was in our rural area that doesn't have any limits and cheaper. Called them was already and because of the trees couldn't do it. Without putting over a 20 foot pole on the roof. To receive the radio signal. So that's out.
GreenEyes we are in the same situation being out in a rural area, it is frustrating.
Same here..no DSL or cable out here. Satelite dish needs clear view of southern sky so would have to cut down beautiful old growth white oaks(NOT) or put a post with the dish on a hill and put the cables underground to the house for installation. First it would cost a fortune and I fear it would be a lightning rod directing the lightning through the cable into the house. So am stuck with dial up

We have a clearing on the south side of the house so we could get satelite. Hubs put a pole in the ground that  reaches about 5 feet above the roof. I know every time there is lightening I unplug the computer. For just that reason I feel like it's a lightening rod. What really gets me is they never once told me or hinted that there was a limit to the downloads.  I would cancel but with daughter working from home on her computer she can't use dial up she would have to work 24/7 to get in an 8 hour day.

The thing is my sisters live 8 mi from me on 12 acres out in a very rural area and have 2 satelite dishes one for TV and one for internet and I can't get either...
If you have access to a 3G network you can get broadband for your computer and the packages are priced on the the amount of gigabytes you use per month and you have to sign a 2 yr contract but if you have Sprint 3G available in your area Virgin has a pay as you go plan with no contract...None are available here.
We went with Att 3G aircard 2 years ago and I must say I like it for the most part but it works much better in the winter when the trees are bare and there are no thunderstorms that keep you from getting a signal.  It does beat dial up GreenEyes which is what we had prior.  It is about 60.00 per month up here.

I did yesterday, will go again, if it is like Where's Waldo, I'm done    Use to get upset playing that with the kids
Haven't been there today.  Will have to go she what she posted
Me too. And kids today are so lucky. We only got three stations growing up, and once a year it was a treat when the Wizard Of Oz came on. When I use to tell the kids that, they looked at me like I grew up in a cave or something
OMG that is so true.  I remember when the Wizard of Oz came on Grama would make us all kinds of treats and we would lay on the living room floor with our eyes glued to the TV.

4Donks,that is the truth about the storms.
My sister has 2 pet goats and they were having coyote problems and she would get up multiple times at night to check on the goats. I bought her a remote TV camera with low lux(?) and speakers. She installed it in the barn so she can see what's happening at night and also hear if the goats are making noise. It works up to 100ft. Maybe something like that pointing at your neighbours would help you keep a Tinkeye on them and also hear what they are doing Monkey Devil!
That is a great idea. I'm telling you here where I live the coyotes are becoming much more daring and brave. I often watch them from my balcony in the avocado field, but for awhile those darn things were walking up the sidewalks in the daytime, which is very unusual. And they aren't thin, so they are getting food somewhere. My poor neighbor when she moved here years ago, thought one of the coyotes was a stray dog, and put food out until she was told he was a coyote.
This place was crawling with them but between the LGDs and the donks I haven't seen or heard one for a long time
That is a good thing. How are the donks doing today? Especially Lumpy  an angelic monkey
Lumpy is about the same but am hoping if it cools off tonight he'll feel more like eating. I went to Tractor Supply and got him some steamed oats to suppliment him but have to be careful he doesn't founder. Tomorrow Afternoon the vet will be here and I'll know more. Keep your fingers crossed
Fingers and toes are crossed 4donks.

Well dang it I was hoping the vet would be there today.  Prayers for Lumpy and the other donks. Do you think it's the humidity that is affecting them? Poor babies I know how miserable I am with the heat and humidity even when I go out in it for a little bit. Hopes it cools down tonight. an angelic monkey
Yesterday the temp in the barn was 112 degrees and that's with 2 10ft and 1 6ft door open. It has been just aweful. I keep dumping their water and giving them fresh because the water gets so warm.

That's awful 4 Donks. I remember you saying you can't put fans out there because they freak out. Would ice blocks in the water help any? Probable to hot they would melt right away. Prayers it cools down soon. an angelic monkey

I tried ATT's air card and it didn't work well here. But I know they have some kind of booster thing now. If it was just me I would try it again. But with daughter using it for her work I am afraid she would have to much down time. The price isn't bad I pay 100 now for the limited service I do get.

4donks, have you thought about putting in a swamp cooler? I'm not sure how they work (google is your friend!) but I know lots of folks in the south use them instead of A/C...much cheaper to operate. Since your barn is so big, I dunno if that would work...but it's worth a look.

Well I have to tell you it was rough when we first got it, I was on the phone with their Tech Support every week, I was so mad.  I have kept our dial up with AOL because I don't trust it completely.  100?  Wow GreenEyes that is alot isn't it?  Our AOL unlimited dial up is 9.99 a month.

Yes they are NRCG  all the schools are enclosed. The only time they are outside is maybe for PE and when they go to and from school. Youngest grand sons school doesn't let them out for recess if it's over 90. They have to stay in the lunch room.
