A spade a spade.... some schools schedule all cupcakes for preseason so they can guarantee wins.  Some try to have at least one quality game in the preseason as it helps the team and coaches gauge where they are.  I read that Florida hasn't played a preseason game outside of the state of FL in decades. And they aren't playing Miami or FSU.  lol  I know that the coach of Chatanooga (our opponent this week) was concerned about his QBs safety and changed the whole scheme so he'd get passes off quicker and reduce the risk of getting hit.  So I see your point.  I still think those planning the schedules are more concerned about money than safety so it will continue... not saying it is right...

That was a HUGE win for Skip H's team.  Doesn't matter how they got the W - Notre Dame lost the game.  That was something with the weather huh?  The fans got a workout.  Pretty sure it was mostly Florida fans at the very end though.  I missed the last part of the game because it was shown on a network I don't get.

No doubt Richt is on the hot seat.  The problem is that they schedule the games at least 4 yrs in advance.  At that time they wouldn't have known.  When we canned our AD and brought back Tom O he set out to add some quality games preseason.  They don't start til next year I believe.  He added Miami.  Who would have thought they would be so down?  Its just hard... and with all of the conference switches it's really becoming a nightmare to manage schedules.

Monkey Devil!

From the Univ of Tennessee... You can't make this stuff up.  It seems their slogan for this year is supposed to be "Opportunity is now here".
However, there wasn't quite enough space on the door that they put the slogan on. the final result is somewhat de-motivating!  Check it out here:

Wish I could have said Western Michigan was a cup cake game for us. Actually, they are expected to win the Mid American division. They had something like 3500 yds passing last year. Early in the game it could have gone either way. But coming back from the second lightning delay would not have helped them much in the big picture. I believe ND is up next for Michigan.
So where is PDH? Auburn dodged the bullet!

oh Kiwi I wasn't referencing your game as a cupcake, but rather others like Bama's and VTech's are the ones that come to mind that I was able to watch in our area.

I think it was really a big moment for Skip Holtz to win over ND, I really don't think the weather played a big part for a rain delay impacts both teams equally in terms of keeping momentum. Since he was able to exploit the weaknesses of ND, I feel sure your coaches are reviewing that game pretty closely to help with their strategy.

I know son actually returned to the football offices to distill game tape half the night less than 2 hours post their blistering loss and it was a punishing one. He was in such a bad mood! Hoping they have a better game this week plus it's not an out-of-conference against an SEC team like last week.

This is a such an affirmation of two college football players we can all be very proud of, just a really inspirational story. God bless them both.

Live from Kiwi's Dawg House, ASU beat Missouri in OT 30-37. Missouri came back from a two touchdown deficit the fourth quarter to tie the game 30-30. With 20 seconds remaining the Tigers missed a 49yd field goal, second of the night. The game ended while all of our SM family were asleep. Kiwi was the last one out so I turned out the lights. Were set for the next round of games to start!!!!

I only lasted til 11pm so you are right.. I missed the ending.. I did read that Gary Pinkel iced his own kicker twice before the miss.  LOL  We call that the Pinkel effect.. he does weird things every year.

Kiwi... first time EVAH a night game at the Big Blue House tonight vs Notre Dame.  Course our game is on at the same time... Wishing you the best.

I hit two boys soccer games this a.m. so have some chores to do so I can enjoy tonights game.  We play Fresno St.  12 of their players were involved in some scandal with government funds (food stamps?) ... I think they'll play them all as it was just uncovered yesterday.

Hope every one has a W and the games are called clean and players remain healthy!  Beans

Great to see you Cuz!!!

Kiwi.... I only caught the very end of your game as our game was 4 hours long... but wooohhooooaaaaaa  what a game that was.  HTH do you score 3 td's in 1:20?!!!  Crapola!

We struggled the first half real bad... awful...but the youngsters fought thru it and you could see them fighting hard, learning and pulling it together.  I will take 2-0.  Hats off to the QB at Fresno State... Kid is unbelievable.  He will join his bro in the pros when he graduates in 3 yrs. Smile

Cuz - good to see you posting, I hope I didn't offend you regarding the cupcake games. My comment was directed at the top five teams but guess it doesn't matter now - details.

Bean - well you had Meyers on ESPN evangelizing how your Huskers will surely win the conference this season - I saw part of your game and important mid-game adjustments were made which in my humble opinion, is often the toughest part of football.

Congrats wreck, no fan likes winning more than you do  seriously I hope it is a great season for you.

Kiwi, thank you for keeping the house open, I think I may need a permanent seat this season. Son's alma mater nearly picked of a big one yesterday, if not for 4 drops by wr's, they likely would have won. As for the team he's coaching with, I didn't think this week could be worse than last week, but it was. Same scenario as UGA in that the fans are calling for the HC to be fired.

Boy, I sure miss the good ole days when son was playing..........!

no offense taken at all none!! at least you don't have to worry about injuries now...just another whole set of worries..right?
good to see everybody....have missed you guys! hoping for a great season like last year.QB that replaced Ryan Mallett, Tyler Wilson is doing great and our receivers are unbelievable with the exception of Greg Childs who was the best but got hurt last year....he is not up to speed yet.then we lost our great running back, Kniles Davis, for the season and that has put a kink in the running game. boy howdy....tho...our special teams is something special. we have already had 2 punt returns for TD's and 1 kick-off return for TD in 2 games!
i am actually going to fayetteville next weekend for the Troy game...i am so excited! have not been to a game in a long time and so looking forward to it!

Well hmmm were definitely a work in progress. After 3 quarters of some the worst football they threw out the play book for the 4th. Its a good thing since I ran out of oxygen to start the 4th. At the end of week 2 OKlst and Bama looked very  good, worthy of a top ten ranking. Conrads to all that won.

I started to write a post about 9/11 and where we are as a people 10 years later. It sounded so corn ball that I erased it. Anyways -- I love we still have institutions like college football to express our individual freedoms and the ability to escape each weekend to enjoy life! Not everyone in this world can claim such simple pleasures!!

I agree with that sentiment! Life seems to go on here, even though most of the world is a dangerous place.
