Good to hear he's still coaching!  I was really afraid the Ducks would lose yesterday.  Glad they pulled it together in the 2nd half!

Your ducks not only won but they were pushed ahead of Alabama in the polls !!! You must be happy

Son is still coaching as a grad assistant coach for offense - they lost to a top ten team by only one TD. After two years of hard work, they are on their way up and surprising a few folks. Offense was on fire

I would say at this time the top 10 teams in NCAA Div I are:

1. Oregon Ducks - (The poise they showed against MSU and then blowing them out was impressive.)
2. Auburn Tigers - (Look solid and QB Nick Marshall looks great, much better than last year, if possible and looks like he has learned how to throw)
3. Georgia Bulldogs - (The only team who has played two non-cupcakes in weeks one and two)
4. Florida St. - (Last year was last year. Sorry, they have not played anyone and have not looked good doing so)
5. Oklahoma Sooners - (Have yet to be tested, LA Tech and Tulsa, really OK?)
6. Alabama - (QB play will determine how far Tide goes this year)
7. Texas A&M - (Johnny who? A&M looks better than last year and appears to have a defense)
8. LSU -
9. Baylor - Offense looks as good as ever, need the defense to go with it. Still need to get over the hump and beat Sooners in Norman)
10. North Dakota State - Just because they are my new found favorite team. These kids play the game like it should be. Of course I am a little bias having played for a smaller college team in Div. III.

I will say this, when it comes to the end of the year and the final 4 for the Div. I playoffs, there should be no mention of any BIG 10 team. This conference needs to get a lot better or pretty soon the MAC will replace it in the power conference ratings.

  Klaas

Red was pretty close to the new rankings out this morning, the Ducks are reigning Klaas - gotta give them more props!

Son actually had a day off due to bye week and was able to tailgate and make a game (SEC) with his girlfriend at her alma mater. She was on the cheerleading squad in college so she understands son's football mania

I may be at the next two games for son's team, resigning from the most awful job in the morning and heading off to a new one. Say a prayer for me, it has to be up from here.

None- good seeing you here too! How's the new job? Tried to figure out sons team but that only leaves 119 other possibilities.
Red- have to agree the Big Ten is having its problems. With the loss of a QB for Ohio State there isn't much there. I did think that MSU held well until the half against the Ducks.  I can't even begin to explain how Michigan could have more total yards than ND and get shut out that badly. Devin Gardner can have 750 yards one game and lose it completely the next. Maybe some of his choices will improve with time this season.
So where is Bean? and the rest out there?

Hi Kiwi, good to 'see' you too. How is your family? Son's team is a southern team, was at the bottom of the barrel last season and really coming together this season. Another win yesterday, not as challenging a team as a top ten from the game prior, but losing by only one TD in the last 2 minutes to the #10 ranked team was a moral victory. Next week is against an SEC team and I will be at the game  - here's a hint, the pom-poms on this monkey are the right color! With moving to yet another state for this job I will actually be able to make several more of son's games, so that's the added benefit.

I think this season is exhibiting some unusual inconsistencies and the Ducks do appear to be the team to beat. Both of son's alma maters won big ones yesterday, I was watching football all day long !! Great to be at home with daughter for a change so I made gameday carnitas (learned from my time in San Diego) and we had a grand football day. Not often all 3 teams you're pulling for have great wins!

Where is Bean? Sharon? I miss everyone........

IMO ... Power Conference Rankings are as follows:

1. SEC WEST - Auburn, Alabama, Texas A&M, Mississippi, LSU & Mississippi St - all ranked in the Top 20.
2. SEC WEST - Auburn, Alabama, Texas A&M all ranked within the Top 10.
3. PAC 10 - Oregon probably the #1 in the Country but untested. UCS, UCLA and Arizona solid. Stanford seems a bit down this year but always a good team.
4. Big 12 - Although other than Oklahoma and Baylor and maybe OK State, I am hard pressed to find any other team in a conference called the Big 12 with only 10 teams that deserves to be mentioned.
5. ACC - On the strength of FLA St and maybe teams like upcoming programs like Pitt, GA Tech and UVA. However, not sold on the Seminoles but they have no one in the ACC that can beat them.
6. Independents - Notre Dame, BYU and Navy are a combined 9-2. Throw in the Black Knights of Army and its 10-4.
7. SEC EAST - Division is down this year because of the loss of too many QB's and talent to the NFL but Georgia, South Carolina can beat pretty much anyone. Programs like Kentucky and Tennessee are on the rise.
8. Missouri Valley - From FCS, Div 1AA ... this conference consists of North Dakota State, Illinois St, South Dakota St, Northern Iowa and Missouri St who take on the big boys and play them well and in many cases win. GO BISONS!!!
9. Conference USA - Middle Tennessee St, LA Tech, Old Dominion, Marshall and UTEP can play with any of the big boys. The Thundering Herd of Marshall probably have one of the best QB's in the country Rekeem Cato.

10. BIG 10. If this conference keeps up their poor play they will lose the right to call themselves, "BIG". As it is they have 14 teams, hmm Big 10? Ohio St and Michigan have been a joke. They can barley defeat anyone in another power conference, let alone Div. 1AA. The talent level has slipped badly in the Big 10. It does not matter if either Penn St or Nebraska go undefeated, they will have played no one. Even a one loss MSU Spartan team is not worthy of being in the Final 4.

Unless things change dramatically, I see the final 4 being two teams from the SEC West and then the final two being either Oklahoma, Oregon or FSU.

However, if all three are undefeated, the PC culture will have the final 4 being the champions of the SEC, Big 12, ACC and PAC 10.

This might not be the worst thing in the world because the SEC will then demand that 8 teams be in the NCAA National title hunt. Which is a better cross section of talent to determine a champion.

WOW, what a bizarre weekend ... I must admit I saw Sooners and maybe A&M as possible upsets, but not The Ducks or Bama.

Current AP Poll:
http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings

My Top 10:
1. Auburn
2. Mississippi St
3. Ole Miss
4. Florida St.
5. TCU
6. Arizona
7. Baylor
8. Alabama
9. Notre Dame
10.Georgia

I feel marginally better after today's win over UCLA 42-30.  Would have been much better if we hadn't gone to prevent defense at the end of the 4th.

The Ducks are a good team and I believe will ultimately win the PAC 12. Klaas, you are correct the final score did not even come close the the beat down that took place as Oregon let their foot off the gas when they were up 42-10.

I think under the days of Chip Kelley, he would have made sure the final score was 56-10.
