Heh Wreck... suppose you saw this.     poor Dez got stuck with a 55k bill for dinner!  He should have carried the dang helmets.  Talk about taking advantage of the new kid!  Cruel.

Yeah, I saw it. Dez will get his last laugh on the field. He has really looked good so far (and he is doing it with a cracked rib).

Turner Gill has lost his mind!

I'm so glad Auburn decided to pass on him. This kind of stuff will ruin recruiting.

Congrats on the win GO!!! Did your Badgers even break a sweat? I think even the janitor put on a Wisconsin uniform and got some playing time!

No doubt about it...Wisconsin is a great team.

sharon - great to see a 'Canes fan posting! What's new down there?

cuz....I felt that way many times over the last two years. It is so very hard to lose a game like that. Mallett was trying to make something happen, and it just didn't work out the way he thought it would. I really like that kid, and he'll go to next level and do well.

We play Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. Our kids are a little banged up so I don't expect this one to be as hard hitting as the last 3 games have been.

I am joining in on the prayers for an injury free season. These are kids, after all. Some of them are barely 18.
none - I don't think I ever heard what happened with Prothro. I heard something about an injury, but I never heard any details. What happened to him? If you'd rather not post it here, I understand....

On to Week 5!
Time flies when you're having a breakdown every Saturday night..

pdh - Prothro's original ankle injury (totally shattered) was excaberbated by an infection he caught while hospitalized which proved to derail his rehab for months. The original injury insured he could never play again as it is - so terribly sad. Son played on his basketball team in intramurals and got to know him fairly well, they are still in touch. Son has always thought Prothro would make a great college coach but even with help for big-time interviews in college programs and NFL, he hasn't landed anything. I don't get it, I really don't. I would think Bama of all programs would give him a shot too. This is a photo from the game against FL at the moment of his injury, it was so apparent how terrible the injury was at the moment of impact even from the stands. http://www.flickr.com/photos/beefcakejcc/49374670/

I consulted with doctor today. He's decided that I can't watch my teams anymore. No Michigan, Arizona Cardinals and especially ASU. (maybe AU). I think we need a new thing for this year, The Unluckiest Team in America! and luckiest team!
My vote would be ASU for the top spot of unluckiest. If you like I can give the list of examples from the last few games, for your amusement.

We need to do a mojo dance for kiwi's teams........

None!  Please share this with your son.  Remember when I told you about the CEO billionaire who is a Nebraska coaching intern?  Well there is a great article on him.  Remarkable story.  Enjoy

I sent it to him tonight Bean, thanks for sharing this !

Mallet carried a great deal on his shoulders in that game, I think Garcia folded under the stress - Mallet will have a great senior season.

PDH I just read about this yesterday and even us NU fans who know and love him are scratching our heads over this one... seems very unrealistic.  Only thing I can think of is that there is more going on behind the scenes that we dont know about that led to this... Agree this would be a turnoff to recruiting.

I see both sides of this, perhaps Gill's trying to 'out' the issues he sees that impact players and focus? I don't think you can legislate what he's trying to legislate, but ultimately somehow some players just don't mature enough to manage their own lives very well.  The frustrations of this for coaches is a real issue, for remember, they are held responsible for the wins or not -

More negative UNC news, seems to never end.............why wasn't Davis watching the store??? The AD as well? or did they look the other way because Blake's recruiting was paying off?

Again, one of the players was paid monies by a booster too.........!

I do have sympathy for coaches trying to keep a team focused. However....at some point a young person in college has to learn to sink or swim, and live with the decisions made....even the bad ones. A coach can't micromanage his players.
Forbidding a young man of college age from contact with girls after 10:00 PM is counter-productive IMHO.

OH MY GOSH!

That poor kid! That is truly a disturbing photo. God Bless him! I certainly hope Prothro gets a chance to coach. He must miss football terribly. That's really a heartbreaking way to end a football career.

Thanks for telling his story. I'll put him in my prayers. I hope he has regained his health now.
