PDH many prayers have gone out today

KTF - Etta's sounds familiar but we had a big team that night, around 10 from Manila too and I can't say I have good recall regarding much of it. I've always enjoyed Seattle and yes, the locals are always welcoming too.

Kiwi - I searched my email but unfortunately I could not find your email addy, do you still have mine? If so, if you could bounce me one I'll respond. I should do better housekeeping with my personal email.

Well looks like LSU is going to have a guaranteed win for their season opener, the world has exploded at UNC fball today and it ain't Butch Davis' fault - he said it was the nanny !!!

Butch is taking a beating on the fan boards for sure.........

this is a link to the press conference, it's a bit long and Davis the last of the three to speak but it's worth watching him.........honestly I sat there dumbfounded by his remarks.

HOLY CRAPOLA... Double digit members of the team to be suspended?!!!!!  That is some serious CHIT.  Can you imagine how that would kill a team?  Especially with all the pre season hype.  Think of the poor kids that actually studied and did it on their own?  I would be fuming.  Bet they lose some recruits over this as well.  I bet Davis will be canned before the season even starts, if not early into it.  You gotta know what your tutor/nanny is doing with your athletes.  LORD.

Indeed it is serious, in fact UNC brought in their "legal team" weeks ago which is why I think they are being so careful what is said publicly prior to completion of the investigation. I can't imagine that Davis didn't know this tutor was helping these athletes because I am very sure she didn't do it for free? Yes I feel for those student/athletes who do it on their own but often those are not the 'stars' as I think we see in this case.

I'm still flabbergasted at FSU not getting more serious sanctions then they did for their WIDESPREAD academic fraud within the academic department. What constitutes the death penalty?Seriously!

INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions has penalized Florida State University for major violations in its athletics program.

The case involved academic fraud affecting more than 60 student-athletes across 10 sports, as well as impermissible benefits, unethical conduct by three former academic support services staff members, and a failure to monitor by the university.

The sports programs involved in these violations include football, baseball, men's track and field, women's track and field, men's swimming, women's swimming, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball and men's golf.

Penalties for the violations include four years of probation, scholarship reductions,  vacation of records, and show-cause penalties for the former staff members.

PDH and I spoke today and she really does appreciate everyone's prayers, the first hurdle is past but now the longer race begins so we need to hold PDH and her daughter close in prayer for sometime to come.

I'm so glad we spoke too and it was just good to hear your voice. I hope you had good news at week's end too!

Son sent me a photo over his phone this morning of their resident pup, no not a pig but a pup - named Oliver. He belongs to the HC but he attends every practice and since son misses Big Red I'm glad he has a pup to love on there. I'll email the photo to myself and see if I can post it. Oh and he's a golden retriever and we plan to find or make a mascot bandana for him and ship it to them.

I agree KTF. I think UNC is getting so much scrutiny because for the first time in a long time, they are being ranked near the top for their defense this season. Typically the ACC is a basketball conference with few who excel in football as well - typically Va Tech has 'owned' football in the ACC since moving from Big East.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers. I'm now geared up to do battle for my baby.....

I can hardly believe football season starts tomorrow night! I'll be watching South Carolina play Southern Miss. Go Golden Eagles!

http://southernmiss.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/smis-m-footbl-body.html

Here's a nice little thing from Iowa State U. They may not have much of a football program, but they have a champion bell ringer.

This is what Coach Chizik is missing every Friday....

everyone please cheer for son's game this weekend !! So hopeful they can win !

update on UNC hubris, Smith suspended indefinitely for breaking team rules, nothing like having your biggest defensive star out for the game against LSU?

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_college/2010/09/marvin-austin-suspended-indefinitely-by-north-carolina.html

Bean, I would hope your team would have a huge opener with such aged and wise GA's on staff now to assist

None.  There was an article on him recently.  I promise I'll find it one day and send it.  Not only does he work for free - I think he has donated millions to the U.  What a deal.

Looking forward to some ball this weekend!  Better get my house cleaned!!!!!!!!  Monkey Devil!

Big 10 divisions announced:

The 'Nebraska' division: Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern.

The 'other' division: Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin.

Each school will play the other five within its division and also face three teams from the other division, including one cross-division matchup guaranteed on an annual basis. The guaranteed cross-division matchups are Illinois-Northwestern, Indiana-Michigan State, Ohio State-Michigan, Penn State-Nebraska, Purdue-Iowa and Wisconsin-Minnesota.

Wow.... we got the toughest possible 3 team "other division" combo for the first year:  We drew OSU, Wisconsin and Penn State so the schedule is:

2011 SCHEDULE
Sept. 10, Fresno State
Sept. 17, Washington
Sept. 24, at Wyoming
Oct. 1, at Wisconsin
Oct. 8, Ohio State
Oct. 22, at Minnesota
Oct. 29, Michigan State
Nov. 5, Northwestern
Nov. 12, at Penn State
Nov. 19, at Michigan
Nov. 26, Iowa
NOTE: One game still to be determined
