None... better you than me.   Monkey Devil!

In the 40s today and tomorrow... storm brewing for the weekend... could get ice or snow... Lots of games on TV to watch though so what the heck.

Is it me or are these bowl games mighty boring this year?  I am watching IA vs MO tonight and it is ok.

Bean better you than me then  Ours should finally melt some today !

I do feel for all the people hit that sat on tarmacs and in airports for the last several days.

I agree some of the bowl games aren't too interesting, although WVU's showing against NCSU surely didn't play well for Stewart. Geez, they had the worst 4th quarter when the wheels really came off. I confess I went to bed after that one and didn't watch anymore games.

Lots being said on ESPN about Wisconsin possibly being the best all-around college team, hope GO is smiling......

Saw this on CNN this morning and thought this could spark some convo of value here

so is wreck break-dancing post the win by his team? congrats on the win

Fridge surely put an exclamation point on the new AD's firing of him, didn't he? He said he felt "belittled" by how all of this was handled and I agree with him.

NCAA is speaking out today regarding OSU and Auburn, I can't recall a public statement like this in a long time

It was a nice win for us --- our first 11 win season ever. We are all shocked that our WR Blackmon showboated across the goal line - it was so out of character for him. He says it was because there was only 8 seconds left in the half and he wanted to "kill the clock".
No comment on the NCAA "statement".

wreck, isn't Blackmon the #1 rated wr currently? I think a little celebrating wasn't so bad

As for the NCAA article, I had an interesting conversation with son tonight over dinner. He's a pretty good cook now! Anyway, he said it was irregular for the OSU players to be allowed to play, in light of the punishments for similar violations on other teams this season. He also said that some coaches have related to him that there really wasn't an ounce of validation that Cam knew of any $$ discussions, and the only evidence that there were supposed discussions with his father, were he-said by 3rd parties outside of MSU's staff. When compared to Reggie Bush and his parent's $$$ for years - I think Cam Newton deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Son also raised a point I don't think many outside of the programs realize, it's nearly impossible for any player in any program to live off scholarship $$$, at least anywhere outside of a campus dorm. I know I provided at least $300 to 400/month to son beyond his scholarship every month and trust me, he had only the basics - no high living at all. We both agree that a stipend for living expenses (even a PC/laptop) should be a given, the NCAA needs to support that change.

How about Tebow putting some egg on some faces this week too? He's a real lesson in believing in yourself and staying true to who you are.

PDH we miss you -

Blackmon was phenomenal last night.  Will be hard to keep him for his sr year but I hope he stays.  And the QB too.  Wonderful game.  Only good one I've seen so far.

Our game will be delayed as the NC vs TN game is running late.  Heard the field is a total mess - very slippery.  Not good for a QB recovering from bum ankle and turf toe.  Dang.  Hope I can stay up this late.

Happy New Year all.

WOW I did not know he is only a sophomore.

We are sucking in our game.  Everything I read says that after this game our OC is GONE... hopefully as HC to Miami OH but I think even if he doesn't get the job he is gone..... this is ridiculous.  To have a D like we have and no O for 3 yrs is ridiculous.

Whew.... lots of wine at my house.

Bean sorry about last nites game. On a nicer note I'm planning on going to the Neb-Mich game in Ann Arbor Nov 2011. I've talked an oral surgeon Neb alumni friend into traveling there. Your welcome to brave the cold and join use for a weekend of tailgating.
Happy New Years all my SM friends- The Dawg House has and will remain open through the NC. Thanks for pitching in and cleaning up after the games.

None... I read about that yesterday... TMs dad created Cornfed in 2000 and approached us then.  The deal was done under Callahans regime and TMs dad has made $500 in royalty payments.    Someone is just looking for a story.  They should try covering our offensive struggles instead.

Well damn, our OC did not get the HC job we were hoping for so it is time for Bo to fire him.  We'll see if Bo can be a CEO.  Last nights bowl game was the worst bowl performance I have ever seen.

Kiwi ... that could be fun.  Thanks for the invite.  You think RR survives?  Seems like they are torn from what I have read.  These coaches with multi million dollar deals gotta live up to the hype.  That goes for ours as well.  There is heat.

kiwi - I hope Bean can join you, sounds like a ton of fun to look forward to!

Bean - sorry your OC didn't get the job, frustrating for sure.

I finally found time today to look for something PDH alluded to, have to say it's truly an interesting twist if Mullen's wife was who reported into the NCAA. My take - if Cam was such a bad kid, Mullen would have known this from his tenure at UF, yet MSU recruited him like no other. Just really interesting to read this.....just further clouds the issue.

IMHO "Camgate" is about a WHOLE lot more than Cam Newton.  It is about corruption and not just at Auburn.  I kept reading on different team's forums about this thread where there was a ton of research on the topic.  They said.. its long but worth the read.  So I checked it out about a month ago.  I still follow it occasionally.  They claim that the FBI stumbled on the pay for play situation as a result of a much bigger investigation into money laundering and fraud during the bank bailouts.  It involves a large donor and Board of Trustee member at Auburn.  He was the COB of a bank that failed.  If you feel like it, take a look.

Wonder if our OC would be a good fit there?   an angelic monkey

wreck....just scroll on by.

I am not going to allow that garbage on tigerdroppings go unchallenged.

I have been reading occasionally but really hadn't felt like posting because after Cam Newton lynching in the media, and by certain factions in the SEC, my take on college football has changed drastically....and I wasn't naive to begin with, either. I have been posting on Auburn forums mostly, and stuck close to home during this roller coaster season.

What has been done to Auburn, and to the Newton family is beyond shameful. They are NOTHING like Reggie Bush and his family, and Auburn is nothing like USC.

However...I see that the tigerdroppings fantasy has made it's way here...
I feel the need to let you all know this....THERE IS NO BASIS IN FACT FOR THESE ACCUSATIONS. THIS IS A COMPLETELY MADE UP INTERNET FANTASY. IT WAS CREATED BY JEALOUS FANS OF BAMA AND LSU. THE FBI IS NOT...I REPEAT...IS NOT AND NEVER WAS INVESTIGATING AUBURN. THE PROBLEM WITH CAM'S RECRUITMENT AT MISSISSIPPI STATE WAS CAUSED BY A RUNNER NAMED KENNY ROGERS WHO IS EMPLOYED BY AN AGENT IN CHICAGO NAMED IAN GREENGROSS. THE FBI HAS GOTTEN INVOLVED IN A CASE INVOLVING THEM BUT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CAM NEWTON PER SE. IT HAS TO DO WITH KENNY ROGERS AND HIS ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES. THIS IS WHY CECIL NEWTON DID NOT WANT CAM AT MSU. HE DID NOT LIKE THE ATMOSPHERE..... THE FBI IS INVOLVED IN THE CASE OF VOTE-BUYING BY CASINO OWNERS WHO GAVE MONEY TO MEMBERS OF THE ALABAMA LEGISLATURE, BUT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AUBURN. THERE WAS NEVER ANY MONEY PROVIDED TO PLAYERS THROUGH GAMBLING CASINOS. AUBURN AND CAM NEWTON ARE NOT INVOLVED IN ANY WAY IN THAT INVESTIGATION EITHER.

I am completely sincere when I tell you that the Cam Newton case opened up a dark and ugly side to college football that I wish I had never seen. The jealousy of Bama and LSU fans has gotten to the point that it's almost criminal. That thread has gone on for almost a thousand pages of pure made up garbage. There is no truth to it, but those fans are so jealous of Auburn's success, and Cam's greatness at his position, and the fact that Auburn now has it's 3rd Heisman winner, and a chance at the BCS that they are obsessed with bringing Auburn down and making people hate Auburn.
I am not kidding. I PERSONALLY met with another AU fan and we went undercover to listen in on a Red Elephant Club (Bama Boosters) meeting, and what I heard would curl your hair. It was like being in the presence of evil. I was shocked beyond belief. They met at a local restaurant. It was eye opening to say the least.
Auburn University has one of the strongest Compliance Departments in college football. They would NEVER allow Cam to play if he was ineligible. They would NOT allow the football program to be jeopardized. There have been literally HUNDREDS of investigative reporters on campus this fall trying to find dirt. None was found. Then they moved on to Cam Newton's family, and tried to find the money and the dirt there. They could find NOTHING. These people have even gone so far as to call Auburn professors at home asking about grades which is illegal....
The players at Ohio State RECEIVED MONEY..ie COMPENSATION...therefore they are in trouble. The Newton family NEVER RECEIVED A DIME. The infraction DID NOT OCCUR AT AUBURN. I WILL REPEAT...IT HAPPENED AT MISSISSIPPI STATE AND MSU'S BOOSTERS WERE INVOLVED. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH AUBURN, SO THAT IS WHY CAM HAS ALWAYS BEEN ELIGIBLE TO PLAY AT AUBURN. HE WOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE AT MSU.
Cam is a very nice young man who quietly does a lot of work with kids. He loves kids, and wants to own a daycare center one day. He is very close to his little brother Caylin. He is not some kind of shady character, and neither is his Dad. Cam goes to class, and actually leads a fairly quiet life on campus.
ESPN created most of the drama, and spread most of the lies about Cam and his family, and it was very good for their ratings. They made MILLIONS from spreading outright lies. It's like I've been saying all along...ESPN has ruined college ball. Joe Schad's "sources" lied, and he went on the air with unsubstantiated rumors just to get face time. Megan Mullen has a connection to Joe Schad......they used to work together.
Now Joe Schad is saying he didn't know he was lied to or not....right. He tried to sabotage Cam's Heisman. He tried to ruin a college kid he doesn't know anything about, and took no time to find out if what he was saying on TV was even true.
Cecil Newton made the mistake of HAVING A CONVERSATION with Kenny Rogers, and this whole thing came about because of that. HE DID NOT TAKE ANY MONEY, and sent Cam away from the MSU mess to the better atmosphere at AUBURN. Cam was given a fresh start, and a chance to excel, and the Bama fans are livid that it all worked out for him there. They have forum after forum filled with hate mongering posts about Auburn, and all kinds of lies. It's been absolutely unreal how bitter they have become over Auburn's success.
.
THERE HAS BEEN NO REAL RESEARCH beans. It's a bunch of partial facts and half truths spun together. The tigerdroppings thing is COMPLETELY A BIG LOAD OF CRAPOLA CREATED BY JEALOUS AND OBSESSED FANS OF OTHER SEC TEAMS BUT MOSTLY BAMA FANS.

If you want an UNBIASED opinion on what took place in the media then read Jack Arute's comments on the lynching of Cam and Auburn by the media. He tells it like it is.

Unless a person has been down here, and has actually seen and heard the things I have in the last 6 weeks...you would not even believe people would act this way about football.

I will also tell you that there were computers seized from the University of Alabama Athletic Dept. a few weeks ago. No one knows why yet.

The "booster" who owns a casino named in the fantasy thread has donated money to Troy University as well as Auburn. His dealings with the Alabama Legislature have nothing to do with Auburn or Troy or Cam Newton except in some bama fan's head. There has been NOTHING uncovered by the FBI with respect to football, but a bunch of legislators are going to jail for selling votes.

The Colonial Bank booster has nothing to do with Cam Newton either. His bank...Colonial Bank...WENT BANKRUPT LONG BEFORE CAM NEWTON. THE FEDS LOOKING AT COLONIAL BANK HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH AUBURN, AND IT HAPPENED A WHILE CAM WAS AT BLINN.
It was one of the first banks to fail in Alabama following the mortgage crisis. He hasn't had an active role in Auburn since he got burned in the JetGate deal with Tubby and Bobby Petrino....in 2003.
It makes me LIVID that people read that crap on tigerdroppings and have no idea it's all made up into some big conspiracy that never existed. Once again...the FBI has no investigations into Auburn athletics. They have an investigation into Kenny Rogers, Ian Greengross and some Alabama legislators selling votes to a casino owner to legalize gambling.
Does anyone think Auburn would be dumb enough to give athletes debit cards to use at a casino TO LAUNDER MONEY? Debit cards that leave a trail....and casinos that have video cameras and tons of witnesses?  If it wasn't so ugly and vile, it would be funny.
AUBURN'S ATHLETES DID NOT RECEIVE MONEY FROM CASINOS OR DEBIT CARDS FROM COLONIAL BANK. NEVER HAPPENED.

Some crazy old loser is sitting at a computer spinning a tale that is harmful to a lot of innocent people. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets into legal trouble for it. The Newtons are planning to sue some people. Auburn's lawyers have shut some people down. They may go after that guy too. The info from tigerdroppings has spread all over the internet, and has been taken as truth. It really is sickening.

Finally...Sports Illustrated spent weeks and weeks trying to substantiate all of the rumors surrounding Auburn and Cam Newton. They found NOT ONE SHRED OF EVIDENCE, and they tried very hard to find something. They admitted that they spent a lot of time and money.....but found no evidence on Cam or his family.

OK...I'm done.

It's not you nonesy.....it's those malicious losers on tigerdroppings spewing their lies and filth about some big conspiracy. It's completely ridiculous, but people actually believe it.

It just infuriates me. Bama fans have had a complete meltdown because they thought they'd get another Heisman and another trip to the BCS. They have tried sabotage Auburn at every turn, including what happened at Bryant-Denny during the Iron Bowl. They can't stand it that Auburn is so successful. This is their way of ruining the reputation of an outstanding university just because their team didn't have the season they wanted.
It's just sick to want a team to win to the extreme that they have taken it. Throw in Florida and MSU having fits because they screwed up their chances with Cam, and you have this mess online. It's being fueled by ego and jealousy, and obsession, and the media. Some of these people have their whole sense of identity invested in a football team. Throw in a few LSU fans and some Texas sore losers, and a few loonies on you-tube, and there you have it.

There is no one on this board who has been a better sport than me over the course of 5 years, and I always think of these kids who play the game first. The kids who play for Bama, FL, LSU or MSU are NOT the ones who are doing this. They can compete, and remain cordial and respectful for the most part. This kind of behavior by the fans does not help the players at all. It just makes things harder in the long run.

I never in all my life would have believed the things that I have seen and heard this season.  The behavior surrounding Cam has opened up something very ugly, and the next time it will be even worse.

I have been a 'Bama fan for my entire life.  BUT I am not an Auburn hater.  I love Auburn as long as they are not playing 'Bama.   hehehe   I believe every word you have posted.  It breaks my heart.  Cam is such a talent.  ALL of Alabama should be so proud of him.  I know I am.  My heart is broken that LSU or 'Bama would try to smear him in this manner.  Whatever happened to let the best team win and move on to the next game?  Money, that's what happened.  I am so sorry all of this is going on. Takes some of the fun out of watching the games.
