Hey Frijole........... what if after the shake-up, Texas joins the Big 10?????   Monkey Devil! Monkey Devil! Monkey Devil!

Yeah... we've thought of that.  First off I doubt it happens but if it did we have a couple of things in our favor.  First off, the law of averages we will beat them.  Second off, Beebee doesn't own those refs.   Monkey Devil! Monkey Devil! Monkey Devil! Monkey Devil!

Man, I'm reading on our boards that the TexasA&M to the SEC is a done deal to be announced aug 22nd when their regents meet.  Lots of football gossip to read huh?  this will really shake things up.  Keep me posted on where you think you'll head.  Insanity!!!

Bean and Wreck is there a new re-alignment? If I'm following this right UT would be its own conference with no other teams to play. Maybe Notre Dame will form a conference with them.
None- That was great news for son. Is he moving there or renting?
Bean- We have a lot of monkeys missing this year. We'll keep the lights on and the doors open.

I am totally confuzzled at this point, I guess I need to go read up on this new alignment but kinda glad I don't have a dog in this hunt.

Bean, I'll send you an email later tonight with an update.

Kiwi, son is actually living in a university apartment so he's renting. He calls me at midnight which is when his workday with two-a-days ends - no days off until after the season ends so it's a 7 day a week job plus soon he will have classes at night too. He sounds tired but happy.

Heh guys... I'm kind of excited.. I am the COO of one of NU's largest sponsors and so today we got the red carpet treatment... lunch with the radio guys, tour of the football complex, student learning center (new for athletes... really state of the art area where they can study between practice and class), the Game Day simulation room, the new areas where they have the trophies/portraits, the practice facility etc.  I saw a few of the players and our S&C coach.  I was the only one who knew everyone's names.    Really got me pumped up for the season.

Wow A&M moved their regents meeting to next Monday!  Must be some urgency.

I'm on OKC this weekend -- getting the OU/OSU take on A&M and the fallout. Word here is that it is not a "done deal". 30-40% chance that the SEC will not vote A&M in. Missouri is strongly denying they are talking to the SEC. It is said they had HUGE egg on their face from shooting their mouth off about joining the Big Ten last year and are not going to tip their hand. IF Missouri should leave, the Big 12 would disband -- otherwise they would ask 1 new team to join and stay at 10 members.

I'm in Phoenix but our cable company offers a few sports packages from all the college conferences and the NFL. I would recommend calling your cable company and tell them what teams your looking for. Usually, their not expensive around 10.00 per month for the Big Ten Network as an example. What NFL team are you trying to view?

http://www.timewarnercable.com/northeast/site.faqs/DigitalCab/Programmin/Sports/NFL/Does-Time-Warner-Cable-carry-a

Question:
Does Time Warner Cable carry an NFL sports package?
Answer:

Unfortunately, not at this time, here’s the story…

The issue: The NFL is waging a campaign to try mandate Time Warner Cable to carry the NFL Network and force our customers to pay for expensive sports programming that they may not want.

Time Warner Cable’s position: We have offered to carry the NFL Network on a Sports Pass. Customers choosing to subscribe to the Sports Pass would have access to this programming at their choice. Customers choosing not to subscribe to the Sports Pass would not have to pay for this expensive programming.

The NFL’s response: The NFL, however, is still insisting that the network be placed on a broad-based tier, which would result higher costs for customers who are not interested in NFLN. By refusing our offer, the NFL is denying the public access to games that were once available on broadcast or other more widely distributed networks.

Time Warner’s last proposal: To put the interests of fans first, Time Warner Cable submitted a new proposal to carry the NFL Network on a Sports Pass or premium basis. This time, we proposed to make the NFLN games available to our customers on a per-game basis, at a retail price set by the NFL, with 100% of the revenue collected for this programming going to the NFL. While offering this with no mark-up is far from ideal from our point of view, we are willing to take this step to make sure no interested customer was unable to watch these games.

The NFL has rejected this offer too.

NFLN appeals to only a small segment of our customers and it is highly priced. We continue to believe that the most appropriate place for NFLN is on a Sports Pass. When the NFL is willing to compromise, we will resume negotiations.

klaasend- I bow to the source. Living in the Phoenix area and following the Cardinals, makes NFL viewing easier. I suppose if I wanted to follow the Lions that would be a lot harder than I imagined. Thank you for digging deeper into what I assumed would be a simple answer.

It is actually more difficult than this. We are talking about 2 completely different things -- The NFL Network and "NFL Sunday Ticket".

The "NFL Network" is a station that has programming about the NFL on a 24 hour basis. They have shows like a "Sports Center" and replay some old "classic games". At the half way point of the season, they show one game a week of an actual NFL game. In most markets, this one game a week is usually made available to the local teams involved to show on a local "over-the-air station."

The "NFL Sunday Ticket" is ONLY available on Satellite "Direct TV". They show EVERY NFL game each weekend that is broadcast by either FOX or CBS. You can watch ANY game in ANY market. They are offering this free currently to new subscribers to Direct TV. I think it normally runs about $300. for the whole season. A secondary new service (available on most cable providers and Dish Network) is called "NFL RED ZONE". This station follows all NFL games , but only when a team is about to score.

We need for the season to start so these kids quit messing around and get in trouble!  Are kids just out of control these days or am I just getting old?  (don't answer that)

 Monkey Devil!

From the Univ of Tennessee... You can't make this stuff up.  It seems their slogan for this year is supposed to be "Opportunity is now here".
However, there wasn't quite enough space on the door that they put the slogan on. the final result is somewhat de-motivating!  Check it out here:
