What's with the Netherlands, do they have a better forensic lab then the US? I'm going to doubt it, but then I wouldn't know.

Actually I don't think they are even recognized internationally if I remember correctly from the Natalie Holloway case. I am guessing he is going to use them to try to confuse the jury pool. I am doubtful the judge will allow him to get experts from another country because of the cost involved to the taxpayers. That would be a waste when we have the best experts in the world right here in the U.S. I bet the judge will rule he has to get his experts from the U.S.

In my opinion, the Bar might have taken Dominic Casey's whistle blowing more seriously had he not included his inappropriate gripe about Baez not having paid him.   But it's still on the record and certainly not good for Baez if proven to be actually true in the future.

I had to look this up.....sua sponte
: (sooh-uh spahn-tay) adj. Latin for "of one's own will," meaning on one's own volition, usually referring to a judge's order made without a request by any party to the case. These include an order transferring a case to another judge due to a conflict of interest or the judge's determination that his/her court does not have jurisdiction over the case.

So Baez thinks this all has a sinister effect to Casey's right to a fair trial.  Caylee had no rights when her sinister mother murdered her.  And again.....the pot is calling the kettle.....    GET OVER IT!

Nancy Grace explains why she has moved on from Casey Anthony case
CNN Headline News, Caylee and Casey Anthony, Nancy Grace, WOFL — posted by halboedeker on September, 1 2010 3:33 PM
So what is Nancy Grace’s approach to the Casey Anthony case these days?

“It was a big part of the show,” she told reporters this afternoon in a conference call. “I think it will be a big part of the show when it goes to trial.”

Anthony, who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter Caylee, will go on trial in May. The Anthony case used to be a regular feature on Grace’s HLN show, which airs at 8 weeknights.

“There are other cases,” Grace said. “We’ve moved on.”

But don’t take that to mean that Grace has lost interest in the Anthony case.

“I want to hear all the facts,” Grace said. “But right now I don’t personally know of any new facts we haven’t covered. There are other cases.”

Grace was promoting her daytime syndicated show, “Swift Justice,” which starts at 2 p.m. Sept. 13 on WOFL-Ch. 35.

I thought the 2 experts from the Netherlands were opening a lab in Florida.
IIRC there was a video from when they arrived and a reporter (Kathi?) asked Bobo if the taxpayers were paying for them to fly here.  His reply was they were in Florida conveniently as they were looking at opening a lab there as well so the taxpayers were not paying for their trip. However in the snip below they state they traveled to Florida for the case:

<snipped>

He was soon followed by attorney Jose Baez, DNA experts Selma and Richard Eikelenboom, and renowned forensic scientist Dr. Henry Lee.

Assistant state attorneys Jeff Ashton and Linda Drane Burdick were also expected to take part in the review, which is being recorded on video.

The Eikelenbooms traveled to Orlando from the Netherlands for the case.

“We’re here just to get insight, just to look at some evidence,” Selma Eikelenboom said.

PINC.9 SPEAKER: SELMA EIKELENBOOM

“This is certainly a high point in our career,” exclaimed forensic specialist Richard Eikelenboom on January 20, following the release of Tim Masters, an American who was sentenced to lifelong imprisonment for a murder he didn’t commit. Masters’ acquittal after eight years in prison was brought about by new research at the forensic laboratory of Richard and Selma Eikelenboom. Months of meticulous research produced 400 DNA profiles from 60 traces found on the victim’s clothing. None of these belonged to Masters.

Selma Eikelenboom, a former coroner in Amsterdam, is a forensic medical specialist. She met her husband Richard, a biochemist, at a blood pattern analysis course. They both worked at the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI). After 1 year at the NFI Selma decided to leave their employer together with Hannie van der Meij, a co-worker, and started their own laboratory Independent Forensic Services (IFS). Richard joined them in 2005. Since then IFS has resolved several important cases. In an Australian case, Selma Eikelenboom’s research led to a breakthrough by proving that an alleged murder victim wasn’t assaulted, but was probably run over by a car. This led to the acquittal of three men who had spent two years in prison of a life sentence.

Today, IFS is a respected and reliable laboratory for both defense and prosecution. What distinguishes the Eikelenbooms from the national forensic institute is the time they devote to thorough research. “By conducting solid, extensive research, combined with our experience and special expertise, we are able to find more and better traces.”

From their website they think of themselves as leaders in "touch DNA analysis".  Did Bobo not just take a forensics course?  Wonder if these two were teaching it?

http://www.forensic-services.nl/

From one of the courses they offer:
Richard Eikelenboom: Director of DNA at IFS and DNA scientist and bloodstain pattern analyst. Expert in trace recovery. He worked on many high profile cases in the Netherlands, like the Deventer murder case and the Schiedammer Park killing. In the US he was responsible for the DNA investigations that led to the release of both Tim Masters and Tim Kennedy, miscarriages of justice in the state of Colorado. He discusses the basics of DNA, some high profile cases and how DNA can be useful for the defense.

Selma Eikelenboom-Schieveld: Medical director at IFS and forensic medical scientist. Introduces a new model to estimate time of death and explains the Bayesian approach in medical cases.

Post-Conviction DNA Testing:
Introducing Touch DNA to Illinois Courtrooms

Illinois has been on the forefront of the movement to investigate post-conviction claims of actual innocence utilizing DNA. In 1997, Illinois became one of the first states in the country to adopt legislation giving convicted individuals access to DNA testing. More recently, the Illinois General Assembly amended the statute in 2007 to allow for re-testing of biological evidence even if DNA testing had been available at the time of trial. This change in the law recognizes recent improvements in DNA testing methods that can now recover DNA profiles that previous testing failed to find. (See 725 ILCS 5/116-3 (a)(2).

Touch DNA is one such improvement that is on the cutting edge of DNA technology. Pioneered by forensic scientists Richard and Selma Eikelenboom in the Colorado case of Timothy Masters, their sample recovery methods for isolating skin epithelial cells of a perpetrator from a crime victim’s clothing in a twenty year old murder case led to the recovery of three full DNA profiles. All three profiles matched an individual who was on a short list of suspects in the original investigation. Faced with this evidence in January of 2008, prosecutors agreed to vacate the conviction of Masters. His case was recently featured on CBS 48 Hours Mystery.

The Touch DNA testing results in the Masters case has drawn the interest of law enforcement and prosecutors, as well. They recognize Touch DNA’s potential for solving cold cases. Since the Masters case, Colorado law enforcement authorities decided to use Touch DNA in the unsolved case of Jon Benet Ramsey. Her parents, ten years ago, had been wrongly suspected of the murder by Boulder police. Re-testing of the victim’s clothing revealed full DNA profiles in the areas of the clothing where the crime perpetrator grabbed hold of the clothing of Jon Benet Ramsey. These test results may someday lead to the identification of her killer.

The Downstate Illinois Innocence Project has applied for a federal grant to conduct a comprehensive post-conviction DNA testing program in Illinois. The grant is funded through the US Dept. of Justice Post-Conviction DNA Testing Grant Program. Congress has authorized 25 million dollars for the Bloodsworth Grant program over a five year period. The Bloodsworth Grant, named in honor of Kirk Bloodsworth, the first DNA death penalty exoneration case in the US in 1993, will provide funding for DNA laboratories to conduct testing, to hire investigators to locate evidence, and to retain the services of private attorneys to represent indigent inmates in filing post-conviction DNA testing motions.

I forgot to add......the phone call between Erica and Casey on July 15th occurred while Casey was driving to the airport to pick up Amy H. The phone call started at 1406 (2:06pm) and lasted 10 minutes (842 seconds), ending at 2:16pm.

Casey picked Amy up at airport at 2:30pm. Caylee was not in the car with Casey when Amy got into the car.

If Erica did hear Casey "talking to Caylee"......then Casey was trying to make Erica think Caylee was with her.....another part of Casey's plan failed AGAIN!

Since her convos with Erica began in late June/July, I think she was also trying to figure out a way to implicate Erica as a possible Zenaida relative or alternative because she had the convenient last name. Casey may have even based Zenaida's last name on Erica's.

That makes sense to me!!
I think it came together at Sawgrass Apartments when Zenaida Gonzales walked into the picture and then Casey had her mystery nanny pinned down.
I still think the common Spanish sirname fit perfectly into her scheme.

I agree.
