MeMere -- I chuckled at your original post about the Ipod Very Happy  I work with a lot of 30 somethings and I have a few nephews in that age group -- so I, too, researched that new fangled thing Ipod Very Happy

I wanted the Nano -- small and light -- for exercising. But DH decided I needed the 60GB IPod. I love it (although I don't know if I will ever fill it Very Happy ).

He got me a bunch of accessories -- a leather case that clips onto my waist or it has a velcro wrist band that fits through it (btw -- a little HEAVY for the wrist). Some 'better' portable headphones that I use on plane rides.

And the BOSE speaker -- which I really love since I work out of a home office. I just dock the IPod and 'listen to the music'.

I haven't mastered anything yet, like playlists -- but I always set it to 'shuffle' and wait to hear which of the 750 songs I've loaded it plays. I've not downloaded anything from Itunes or anywhere else yet -- just our personal CD library.

I'm in my early 50's -- but with the buds in my ears (I saw some 'bling' buds the other day Cool ) I'm dancing around the house like I'm a teenager Very Happy

It sounds like you are enjoying yours, too Very Happy

Hi MeMere-

That San is quite a bonus isn't she? She knows all kinds of smart things!!

Mr None gave me a Nano for xmas, I was the last one in our home to go for the iPod. Son has the shuffle <works great for he runs a lot>, daughter has her spring green one, mr none has his Nano. The three weeks we had both kids here in early summer, you could walk into any given room and hear a different kind of music!

Daughter even has the speaker set with the alarm feature <works great for it blasts her out of bed>  Laughing and she also has that gizmo for the car that you just plug your iPod into which fits into the lighter?

I want a new case for mine, came with a funky one, it's just not me!  Laughing

Sharon....Hi....I got the Nano and love it although I do not know how to work all the thingys...There is not much of an instruction booklet....most of what I learned has been on line...

anyhow....my 13 year old neighbor had his very small iPod on his waist band while he painted the fence around his 4 acres....white country rail fencing.....he was too cute.....singing and slapping that white paint on the fence, the grass and on himself....!

He let me listen to the music and I could not believe how great the sound was.....since I have some fencing to paint myself, I thought it was so worth it....what a great thing to have on my trips home...about 12 hours away...!

I'm older than you are, but I have always gone after things that interested me....years ago...many, many years ago....the men administrative types were getting the first desktop computers....and telling "us ladies" that we did not need them.....I headed straight to Sears and got one of their first "portable....90 lb computers".....I think I am on my eighth one now.....I knew that a little iPod would not stop me... Hi None......have you noticed that I need a chat thread....my mind is so OT.....anyhow, I got the black and silver Nano....mostly because it was the only one  in town...wally world of course.....

There were lots of cases for the iPod.....ww had at least 10-12.....I got the chic black to go with everything....

Woke up this morning to hear big trucks on the road in front of the house...blacktopping the street...and, guess what, they "touched" my new, cheap mailbox.....and the post needs to be re-set... Sad

Do tell DH and family hello from all of us here in KY.....please let us know if there is anything we can do.......heading for bed...will see you all in the morning.....Mere

 Very Happy  Very Happy

The only drawback -- per DH -- is that when I have the headphones on I don't realize that I'm singing REALLY loudly Very Happy  That is an agreed upon 'no no' in our house as we are both great music afficianados -- but tone deaf.

My current desktop doesn't have a fast enough USB port for me to take advantage (so I've been told) and I use the Sony Vaio laptop I bought DH to download my CD's.

Please share whatever you learn -- and I will do the same. My next 'effort' will be to try to create a special 'playlist' for aerobics  and another for yoga. That could take me until the end of time Very Happy

I also occasionally run into a song on a CD that just will not download. The rest of the album does -- just a specific song won't. I don't know what that is all about.

In terms of the PC -- again you made me laugh Very Happy  Very Happy My first portable PC (you're right -- they surely were NOT laptops) was a COMPAQ which weighed 40 lbs and was the size of a portable sewing machine Very Happy  Very Happy  Ahhhhh -- a toast to the good ol' days of DOS Very Happy

Sharon...am waiting for the little fence painter to come home from vacation....he is going to "tell me everything he knows"....and the black kitty I am babysitting belongs to him... Very Happy

I will let you know what I find out......so far, no difficulty uploading songs...including Rock Around the Clock.... Smile ....have Surfin USA on now....too much fun..... Smile

Mine was a Compaq also...so I guess it wasn't 90 lbs....I do remember that I paid $100 a month to Sears...for a long time.....but I learned.... Very Happy

Dear MeMere,

Regarding the black kitty you are taking care of ... I adopted an 8 week old and they told me to provide her with high quality canned food (not from the grocery store) at least twice a day. Now that she has settled in, she likes the dry food (from the Vet) quite a lot, too.

The basics were: canned food and a small litter box that is not too high for her to jump in to.

Louise...thank you so much.....the kids brought a pouch of Whiskas for each day the kitty is here....and they feed her in the afternoon.....but she was so hungry....I am giving her a small amount of dry food in the morning and the pack of wet food in the afternoon....china dishes no less...!  She is being "saved" by the kids...who found her on the side of the road...no mom or other kitties around.....she has survived despite everything....is precious and very gentle.....I only have her for a week but I am sure I will see her grow up as the kids are just next door....
they thought she was a boy kitty and named her "Tiger".....a couple of days later they came over with red faces and told me kitty was a female....I call her "Miss Kitty" and hope it sticks..... Very Happy

Greetings all!

Don't mean to butt in to the coversation... I just noticed you were talking about I-PODS. I am a certified I-POD addict.

I have the circular speaker docking bay
the FM transmitter plug in that lets me
take it and play it on any radio anywhere! ( i love that )
I also have the patch cable that hooks it in to my
stereo for rebroadcast through out the home.

I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE
THIS THING.

Just getting in to the downloading of complete shows and podcasts
now.

An I-POD a day keeps the doctor away. Wink ROCK ON
