Meeting With Parents Planned For Sept. 2

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Administrators at Kyron Horman's grade school shared a plan Tuesday to help students readjust to school life while the investigation into the 7-year-old's disappearance continues.

Skyline Elementary School in rural northwest Portland opened Monday for the first time since June to allow families to register new students. The school year kicks off Sept. 7.

Principal Ben Keefer said he is meeting with Skyline parents on Sept. 2 to address safety concerns and answer questions. There will be a safe room set up in the school, Keefer said, and he's working with the Portland Public Schools crisis team to handle ongoing concerns.

School leaders and Kyron's biological parents are also working on moving the Wall of Hope, a sprawling collection of gifts and letters for the boy, so it won't be a distraction for students or attract strangers to school grounds.

"None of us thought it would go on this long," Keefer said.

Soon after Kyron disappeared, the school became the epicenter of the largest search effort in state history. Multnomah County deputies leading the investigation have also held numerous news conferences at a church located near the school.

Deputies said Kyron was last seen by his stepmother, Terri Horman, after an early morning science fair. No one was been named a suspect or person of interest in the criminal investigation.

Update In Case

The sheriff's office said Tuesday they have received 3,700 tips and they continue to follow leads. Anyone with information about the missing boy is asked to call 503-261-2847.

Detectives didn't provide other updates, but Kyron's parents said they might hold a news conference later this week.

I found out yesterday that my granddaughter who is 12 and lives in Florida has to walk the 1.7 miles to school everyday. She has to leave her home at about 6:15 to 6:30 every morning. She can not walk the .3 miles to the bus stop. Because she lives under 2 miles it is the parents responsibility to get her to school. My daughter leaves for work at 4:30 every morning so she can not take her. They are trying to get neighbors together to car pool these kids and all the parents who can't take a turn will pitch in on gas. During this process they have found that their are several sex offenders living within a 2 block radius that are not on the list for some reason. Scares me 1/2 to death.

What a horrible position to put a family in.  It's good that they have located the registered ones and know who they are.  Question is how many aren't on that list so they don't know who they are?

My very first memory as a child was screaming and crying because my mother was going to leave me with my father again while she went somewhere. She didn't understand why I acted like that.  I was molested until I turned 13yo and never told anyone.  Until my brother got married to a woman with a small daughter.  I told her to never, ever leave that little girl with my Father and Mother.  She asked me why and I told her.  She made it a point to get into a conversation in front of my Dad on purpose. No names mentioned and just stated that if anyone ever touched her little girl she would cut his D*** off and watch him bleed to death.
Point taken. She and my brother are the only two people who ever gave me support in my time of need.

God watched over me though because one month before my daughter was born my father died. I made it clear to any men I met that if they ever touched my child they would suffer.

After becoming an adult I was raped and the perp tried to kill me while in the military. I survived the attack if you can call it surviving. Again she was the only person who truly understood. I didn't know how much she and my older brother understood until about a year ago when she had to write a letter stating what she knew had happened and how it all ruined my life so I could get disability.  Let me just say I was shocked when I read her letter.
She really does understand why I'm so scared of people and so untrusting. Why I have my place completely fenced in and patroled by large dogs. I never sleep through a night, I have multiple nightmares still.

I signed a petition to get it on the Oregon ballot for tougher sentences for those who commit sexual crimes. I sure hope we have an opportunity to vote on it in November.

If you are reading this website and know where our Angel Boy "Kyron" is please do the right thing and bring him home.

I am not looking for sympathy. I just want people to know that in alot of cases I have now heard about children don't tell.  I recently learned that a childhood friend's sister commited suicide as an adult because of her Father.  I was shocked!  I never knew this was going on in their home. 

I will say this.  In my own family there were those who followed suit and paid the price. Then there were those who went extremely the other direction.  I have also learned it went back many generations. 

I only pray that Kyron hasn't suffered any of this abuse.  I think when someone is found guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt and there is a chance they will re offend they should be permanently removed from society.  This includes anyone who has commited any kind of sexually motivated crime.  Not just against children.   

I pray everyday that our little man will be found safe and alive.  I do however have a hard time believing it. 

Also I believe many crimes are commited by women against boys that are never reported. It isn't just men who commit these crimes of horror.

It was unclear when the boy was reported absent. Robb Cowie, Portland Public Schools communications director, said school officials were asked by law enforcement not to comment on any details because it might impede the investigation.

Carol Moulton told Oregonlive on JUNE 5:
Carol Moulton said the kids were supposed to report to their classes and be divided into small groups of a few students each. Each group was supposed to tour the science fair with a chaperone. Afterward, when they returned to their classes for roll call, Kyron wasn't there, she said.

the majority of what is on other news sites and investigative type sites online ... is that at "some point" right after 10am June 4th his teacher did roll call and marked him "absent"....NONE of which is in any way "official"    (I found nothing as far as "2" roll calls being taken that day, aside from other inquiries same as the one you posed - not to say some info to that affect doesn't exist somewhere in cyberland)

PORTLAND, Ore. - There was no expectation on the part of Skyline School that Kyron Horman would be in class after the science fair the day he disappeared, according to multiple sources.

Prior to his June 4 disappearance, Kyron Horman’s stepmother, Terri Horman, informed his teacher he had a doctor’s appointment on Friday, the sources said, and it was why there was no expectation Kyron would be in class after the science fair. Once class began at 10 a.m., his teacher marked him absent.

LazyDog and all who have the abuse histories - my heart goes out to you as well. I think the statistics are more like 1 in 3 girls or even 1 in 2 if you add sexual harassment, a bit less for boys. Please remember there is help out there if you are ready for it. If you find the right person, you can deal with it at your own pace and some people specialize in trauma. There are even people who do phone counseling if you live in the boonies. There are inexpensive resources in the big cities too.
Yes, the Internet is unfortunately fueling the pornography boom, and is the largest business on the Internet, all together. There really should be organizations to help with children around schools. I like the idea of the living school bus, where neighbors get together and go around and walk all the kids to school, can't remember where this was. but I read about it somewhere. That's the village! Of course there are baddies in every village, many unfortunately off the radar of the so registries.
As far as foreign countries (I  am think mainly SE Asia) they are chock full of sex industry, including young kids. People who have been there (Cambodia and Thailand is what I have heard) see old men with young women all the time. I guess some of the women want the money for their families and sometimes guys do marry these women.It's all horribly sad and disgusting. And now we are learning it is happening here too, very sad.

In early intervention, I lead a group of parents with children with special needs and some of them had special medical needs who really had little hope of their child surviving.  Some of the babies (birth to three) did pass, so you can imagine, we all knew things about each other that many others did not.  One parent had been abused by her father and brother (raped repeatedly) and when she told her mother, her mother said, some families just do this.  She ended up with multiple personality disorder.  

She had a son, in her home when she found poems written by her husband that fantasized about male children and having sex with them.  The couple went to a psychiatrist who said, as long as these are just fantasies, it is fine.

 

She was determined that her son was not going to lead the life she had.  She took him and moved to a different state where she moved in with her Mom (and was terrified because even though her father and mother had divorced, he and her brother still visited the mother).  The mother was not totally in her right mind and for some reason had a non-working refrigerator in her apartment.  She was penniless and terrified to leave her child at home to go to work.  She called me from this place several times after she left the area.  She never trusted men again.

Stories surround us and I also hope angels surround and protect all of the abused.

I have been trying very hard to control my temper on this issue and I really think  I'VE HEARD ENOUGH NOW about my post to him.

For some reason you all forget that 'Bearlyhere' asked the question.

On the other thread dedicated to Jason, this has been hashed and RE HASHED again and again and despite the fact that I openly and publicly apologized, you folks just WON'T LET IT GO.  WHY is that?

I'll tell you what, I'm standing by my original suspicions of Jason, I think he's odd.  I think he's someone that I would really want to have a good hard look at and after what he posted, based on my personal experience in the school of life I would want to know EVERYTHING about him.

I'm not the only person saying this, I see many posts about his 'peanut head' on here and no one seems to take that as offensive??  I personally think trashing the way someone looks is MUCH more offensive than questioning what he said about his remarks linking to Kyron's location.

In the end this just leaves me confused.  I see nasty remarks that go untouched but yet my post just keeps getting hammered.  I had such high hopes for this place and now I'm beginning to stand back and really wonder.

Check out a few other crime sites and read through the comment section on some of these news sites and you will see that there are MANY, MANY other people SERIOUSLY wondering about Jason's role in this situation.  Not just me.  If wondering about a cryptic strange message posted by someone who dated a woman that is connected to the disappearance of a seven year old boy is wrong then by God I'll stay wrong.  Good grief.

Janet, I feel like I'm out on the lake standing on melting ice in the spring and don't know which way to go.  There seems to be an underlying current here and I can't get a handle on it.  Apparently because this man came on here he is immune to investigation. My personal opinion is that he placed HIMSELF in the spotlight willingly, he posted on and on about his relationship with DeDe and went so far as to have a rambling letter about his relationship with her PUBLISHED with a news agency.

TO ME?  That makes him worth a second, third and fourth look.

So far, I haven't seen any of the men who are even closer to the fire publishing these types of letters or posting on the internet.  I don't see Terri Horman's ex husbands on here going on and on about their lives with Terri.

I most likely wouldn't even have had the issue I had with Mr. Jason had he not taken this very public opportunity to write his personal, ONE SIDED observations about DeDe without giving her the due respect to be on here to defend herself.  I take great issue with that.

I   don't know for sure.

I do know this, I am a survivor of abuse.  I also am an advocate of not accusing people of things unless I know the facts especially as it comes to allegations of sexual abuse because as any other survivor knows it is an act that happens when you are ALONE with that other person and often it becomes a matter of who is believable.

To wrongly accuse someone of this very horrible crime is to place someone in a position of great difficulty in defending themselves in a court of law.

That said, I didn't randomly choose Mr. Jason out of the crowd and start picking on him.  By his own admission he is an odd ball in that he's a single man with no children of his own and he has taken on the cloak of a child advocate in which he makes this issue VERY, VERY public in his own work as a fence builder.

If he wasn't connected to the situation with Kyron I would have written him off as an oddball long ago and moved on.  Actually I myself HAVE moved on but this subject with my post to him just keeps re-surfacing.

I don't know what to make of it or what to do with is.  I have apologized to him.

He posted ON AND ON  about how when Kyron comes home it will be a celebration like no other, that a GROUP of people conspired to take Kyron ect...ect...well these kinds of posts just BEG to be questioned.
