How the Fed fooled the world:

Apart from digesting another round of depressing housing data, as well as a downward revision to the US Q2 GDP, market participants will pay close attention to the speech by Ben Bernanke on Friday, conveniently titled ‘Macroeconomic Challenges: The Decade Ahead.’ The decision by the Fed to reinvest its maturing mortgage portfolio which roughly equates to around USD 250bln was not communicated particularly well by the Fed and it is becoming increasingly obvious that the Fed has become a puppet not only to politicians but also to the financial markets. As such, Bernanke will likely reiterate the need for the Fed to maintain its independence when not only tackling future crises but also when pulling out of the accommodative policy stance. He will also likely clarify that the Fed has plenty of tools left at its disposal should the conditions deteriorate further.

Why keep housing prices inflated?

Non profits buy for pennies, sell at inflated prices, house in foreclosure...repeat

Are the non profits holding the mortgages or passing them on?

How much are these non profits making off of these homes?  How much are taxpayers being taken for?
