4 Donks A special someone in Chicago sent me this story to give to you  an angelic monkey

Article in today's sport's section-

Faust definitely in tune with donkey training
Nancy Faust is baseball's most famous organist.

She is not as well known as an accomplished donkey trainer.

Her 12-year-old pet donkey, Mandy, knows a dozen tricks. Mandy stands on a pedestal and waves. Faust asks Mandy if a reporter is just a little smarter than her, and the donkey shakes her head no. Mandy can count. She cannot, however, hit the pickoff man.

Faust rescued her first donkey, Rosita, from a late 1970s Bill Veeck ''Ragtime Night'' at Comiskey Park.

''I don't remember the hook,'' Faust says while overseeing a Mandy pedicure from blacksmith Trent Hinkle.

''I know Bill had an old piano, an old car and a donkey. They were door prizes. When nobody claimed the donkey, a few days later I asked [Veeck's right-hand man] Rudy Schaefer if I could take it home. He gave me the OK.''

Faust brought the 400-pound Rosita, a.k.a. Rosie, to her then-home in Des Plaines.

''I quickly realized how smart they are,'' she says. Faust turns to her blacksmith and says, ''We found an old school bell, and [Faust's husband] Joe installed it a week ago. Now we have to hide the rope because Mandy's ringing it all the time. She knows if she rings it, I go running to her. That's how I trained her.''

In a separate conversation, Hinkle says, ''I've never seen a donkey this smart.''

Suddenly, Mandy starts braying in the background.

Faust lovingly asks, ''Are you a smart ass, Mandy?''

She continues, ''When I was a kid, my dad would take me horseback riding in Lincoln Park if I practiced music 15 minutes a day. There used to be stables there.''

Besides taking care of Mandy, who weighs 600 pounds, Faust watches over chicken, geese and her Border Collie mix Patches at the Hawthorn Woods home she shares with Joe Jenkins, her husband of 30 years. He works for the Fremont Township assessor's office.

One of Faust's prize mementos is a December 2006 letter from then-Sen. Barack Obama.

She wrote Obama to state her opposition to the commercial slaughter of horses. He wrote back and added, ''I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your talents and artistic contributions as the White Sox organist. I am one of your many fans and look forward to catching a game and enjoying some of your music next year.''

Tell that special guy thanks.  They are smart that's why they get into so much trouble. But hers sound like little guys when you consider that Lumps lost 250 lbs.
I will tell him you said thanks. How are the Donks today?

You out did yourself Trimm, hope the back is better today  an angelic monkey Now take it easy for awhile. Are there clerks at Walmart that aren't dumb? I'm sorry
I can't stand Walmart clerks. They are never helpful. I wish I had a Kmart I love Kmart.
The guy that works in the electronics dept at Walmart here is 6'4" heavy set with gray hair in a braid down to his waist and a hearing aid. He is scary and really can't explain things to you. I usually skulk around till he's tied up with a customer and I grab anyone else. Monkey Devil!
We have a clerk at the register that is so slow that I will do anything not to go by him  He is like Tim Conway in the Carol Brunette show when he played the elderly man that moved real slow

Just put my lei on and am going to water
Don't forget the Hawaiian print shirt.
And let me tell you it is wet, it takes a hour out there to water and pick up and it takes everything out of me when it is warm out. When it is cool it doesn't bother me.
Sorry it was so hot outside No Rose. Don't over do yourself or you will never get well.
I don't know the meaning of don't overdue and that is half my problem    Thank the certain someone for that story
I know you don't know the meaning of don't overdo, that is why I keep reminding you

I will thank the certain someone for the cute story.  an angelic monkey
Thanks JSM.  After my second daughter was born and I had a caesarean, and was feeling horrible to say the least, when they let me go home I washed all the windows because my mom was coming to help me out    When she saw me, she said you are as white as a ghost and I've never seen you look so sick. But I couldn't sit down.
OMG No Rose, you could have died.
My mom told me that when she said it is time to take a nap, we put the baby in the little crib in the room and my oldest daughter in my bed, and my mom would lay with me so I would be sure to sleep. And she would say that within a minute I was snoring everyday.
Gosh I am glad your mom was there to look after you.  an angelic monkey

Has anyone heard from NR today?  I was wondering how her son was?  Also if JMS does want to post CC's name...let's call him LEO for now......instead of referring to him in various ways.

JMS now that your secret is out....give the details!  Enquiring minds want to know.  Will you move to Chicago eventually or will LEO move to Houston?  How long before one of you move?

I talked to the vet about their tobacco habit and he said let them eat it. Apparently before worming pastes were available the old way to deworm horses, goats etc was with tobacco and he said it was safe and worked.

Hope it all works out, these infections that don't want to go away are really upsetting  I do feel better, but I'm scared it will just be the same old thing after the pills are gone. My husband has some strange allergies and headaches he has been to the allergist and is on so much, but the headaches are awful. I told him about all you said with your husband and his teeth, and he just had a bunch of dental work done, and have to wonder if he isn't having the same issues. He has made an appt for the doctor and then they will take it from there.
