JSM, I hope Josef will be alright.  I saw where you said he was losing weight and went to find a recipe for "Satin Balls", which are used to help a dog gain weight, and then I see Josef's been injured.  Poor Josef.  I hope he gets better.  There are a number of recipes for "Satin Balls" on the internet, and they are a healthy snack that will put weight on a dog quickly.  It isn't meant as dog food, it's meant as a treat to go with dog food.  "Satin Balls" are used for dogs that have been ill or that are rescue dogs and are underweight.

 SATIN BALLS

This recipe is one for putting weight on an animal quickly, as some use it for putting a couple extra pounds on a show animal prior to the big day, or an animal that may have been ill and needs a weight gain program.  It has also been reported that this recipe will help with some forms of hair loss, such as when your dog(s) blow their coat, to keep the coat healthy and shiny.  This recipe is entended to be fed raw.

10# hamburger meat
1 jar wheat germ
1 lg box of oatmeal (uncooked)
1 1/4 Cup vegetable oil
10 eggs
10 sm pkgs unflavored gelatin
1 1/4 Cup unflavored molasses
A pinch of salt
1 lg box Total cereal (2lb's)
(You may also add a pinch of garlic powder to add flavor)

Mix all ingredients together well, much like a meatloaf....put into separate freezer bags and freeze, thawing out as needed.  It puts weight on in a very short time, not to mention the gloss in their coat.  You can use it every day  when they have a show to do and it does not produce diarrhea.  It can be fed  alone or with kibble.

BETTY LEWIS' SATIN BALLS

I don't like the Satin Ball recipe b/c of the sugar- laden Total Cereal. Here's the fat ball recipe that helped put weight on Druid.

        1 lb ground beef
        1 8 oz pkg cream cheese
        1 jar all natural peanut butter
        1 jar (smaller of the sizes) wheat germ
        1 doz egg yolks
        1 cup or so of flaked oats soaked in heavy cream

Mix up, form balls, freeze, feed as treats or food supplement.

How to Make Satin Balls (for dog who needs to gain weight)

Things You'll Need:

    * 1 pound hamburger (NOT lean)
    * 1 1/3 cups Total cereal
    * 1 1/2 cups uncooked oatmeal
    * 1 raw egg
    * 6 tablespoons wheat germ
    * 1 package Knox unflavored gelatin
    * 2 tablespoons virgin olive oil
    * 2 tablespoons molasses
    * Pinch of salt

Instructions

Mix dry ingredients

Using your hands, mix in the rest of the ingredients and mix well.

Form into patties or balls. I like to use ice cube trays. Once frozen, pop them out of the tray and into a ziploc bag.

How many you offer your dog will depend on the dog's size and weight requirements. These are high calorie, healthy treats, not a substitute for their regular food.

JSM make sure the apartment manager is given written notice about the dog attack. If they do nothing about this woman and it happens again go after the apartment management. They should be held accountable if they are aware of a dangerous situation.
Before I moved to the boonies and lived in the city if a dog bit another dog or person it was required to wear a muzzle if outside the house even in a fenced yard.

I called them 4 donks and let them know, but if nothing gets resolved I am going to put up fliers and also my neighbors are on the lookout for this lady as well.

I held her and she tried to watch. I think its too small for her to focus.
She watches TV all the time with me. I can tell by the way she reacts ..she tilts her head and barks .. she Hates Nancy Grace LOL .. and Tiger Woods image that..

JSM you were talking about a Lemon Doughnut and that Mr. Hung .. made mention of you being Thick.

Thick is one thing you are not. I have seen you in your skating outfit and Girly Your are NOT Thick.
My brain works in mysterious ways. John Travolta was dubbed Thick when he was Vinnie Barbarino .. he wasn't thick, he was a kid ..he was healthy. Then he changed shape and was to be a Dancer in all his movies afterward.. and Man can he Dance.  Whoo he is talented. I LOVE HIM ... I don't care what anyone says .. He is awe to me.  He has been every shape, size and it does not not reflect upon his Talent. His talent is within. I love to watch him Dance. He mesmerizes Me.  Love Travolta. I think he is a remarkable being as well.

I do have a point of bringing him up. I met a girl when I was 16, we had never met nor had any knowledge of each other.  She and I became friends. She was an Ice Skater. We met in High School.  She started ice skating when she was 3 yrs old. I went to her house a few times. Her parents house was a living shrine of her Ice skating .. ribbons, photos, trophy's .. Everywhere was her Ice Skating. She was very active, she skated, she played Volley ball, she water skied like an acrobat, she was very intune with her body. She was always weight training for years.  She did this for Her. Not to impress anyone. She was "Thick" because she WAS. She would admit I am Thick.  She was blessed with a healthy body that was Short. She was only 5'1. She had a BUBBLE Butt that was solid as a Rock and thighs to Match and You know what ..as much as she would wish she had long legs thin and fine ..She was Okay with it. Because She knew .. and didn't have to prove Nothing to No One. I will never forget her. I always thought she was so inspiring. She is still, from what I hear she is a skating coach for young girls at present.
Just Like You JSM .. You don't have to Prove anything to Anyone ..Your training and Talents are Yours and IF anything you need " Positive thoughts" not negative. YOU are NOT Thick!   Tell Mr. Hung to Get over his preconceptions of what a talent should look like !! You take Care of You.  I love my Sister. Stay You, Do what you need to for You and Be Proud of Your Achievements 

  Deenie, you are such a dear  . I am not worried about Mr Hung telling me I am thick, I know I am very big in the rib cage area, doesn't bother me much. Your friend is very inspiring to me too. I think it is wonderful she is a skating coach and an inspiration to younger kids.  You are a big inspiration to me as she is to her kids.

I love cool fall weather, today and tomorrow should be nice, but then some more heat 

-4 C last night and only 3C right now.  Had some chunky rain yesterday as well, more expected today.  Seems like we have gone straight from summer into winter. 

Have to decide what to bake today.  Apparently a 9 x 13 carrot cake lasts under 12 hours and was not enough.  I also think my fridge is leaking milk as there is none this morning and I had 2-4ltr jugs at dinner time last night   

It wouldn't lst long in my house either
