OMG hubs found where one of the outside cats had babies. He was so worried about the critters getting them. He brought them all in and now my bathroom is turned into a nursery.  There are 6 of them.

4 Donks  I forgot that I found an article in a magazine while I was at the doctors the other day. It mentioned a ranch here in Texas that had exotic animals in a special reserve. I got to thinking maybe your Vet might like the name to see if he could place some of the animals like the zebra and water buffalo. (( It isn't a hunting ranch)) It's called YO Ranch it's outside of Kerrville in Texas.  Just a thought.
Hope you are having a good evening.
I'll give him a call and let him know. The large animal vet isn't the one I took Furby to see. Thanks an angelic monkey

I never thought about that. Just the vet part reminded me I had written the name of the ranch down and where. I guess I had a senior moment. Hows Furby doing tonight?
Furbs is doing very well thankyou. I know she has limited time but as long as she bounces back we'll keep on going together. She is such a little character.

I know you love her and she loves you and I think it's wonderful that you guys have each other for how ever long that might be.  an angelic monkey

How can you walk away after you see them?  Somethimes I just wish I didn't see them

I have to contact our local TNR "trap neuter and release"  group and try to spay/neuter the adult cats at the recycle center ....so hopefully I won't find anymore...

My kids tell us we are carzy.  I am glad to hear I am not the only one out there that has a kitty nursery going on.

I have 4 feral cats that live in the woods and at night go into the barn with the donks and in the daytime will lay in the pasture with them. I have tried to trap them but no luck. I just feed and water them and hope one day I can get them to have them spayed or neutered.  So far they only trust the donks.

We were part of a rescue group about 10 years ago.  My husband used to keep me grounded. Now I think he is almost as bad as me.  Monkey Devil!

Most of my cats are aging now.  So it is nice to have babies around.  They are so fun to watch. It sort of keeps you grounded to help animals. Gives me a purpose in life.

I have trapped so many cats in the past 10 years it is pathetic.  I once had a car accident and was very embarrased by the cans of sardines that was in the car after the police arrived. Monkey Devil!

They must have really thought I was a loon.

I understand what your saying. But once I see them it's over. We took the first couple groups of females in and had them spayed at our local vet. But that was getting expensive. It seems living in the country they come and go in waves.

I bought a haumane trap but they flipped it and got the food when it was dumped on the ground or they reach in and pull the food out. Wily they are for sure.

There are alot of organizations that will help with the cost (atleast with a discount).  We have several aound here.  I think the cheapest around here is around 35 per female (feral). Of course, you have to use special vets for the ferals.

I have even thought of opening nonprofit TNR group.  Maybe then I could write off some of the expenses. It is expensive.  The cost of litter and food these days is crazy

Why would you need a special vet for ferals ?

Yeah, you  have to practically starve them to get them to go in the trap.  And once they go in that trap once,  you will never get them in it again

It's awful. I go thru 18lbs of dry food every 4/5 days plus 4 cans of wet food a day. Litter abut a box and 1/2 a week. I really think I spend as much for the cats as I do for hubs and I.

You take them to the vet in the trap.  They have to do anesthesia through the trap, before they take the cat out.  And then they return the cat to you in the trap.  They also have to use special tape on the wound because you will never catch them again to remove sutures.

I have a very good vet near me that will accept them if I call them in the morning.  Because you never quite know when you will get lucky and actually catch one.  Most of the time you just wait impatiently for the cat to enter the trap.......and of course they do sneaky stuff to steal the food without getting caught. Monkey Devil!

I guess I'd better check with my vet to make sure he would do them before I actually trap one.
