Yet another fugitive from the United States justice system was apprehended in Panama this week.

Norreys Whalen, age 53, was arrested Wednesday in his Plaza Balboa apartment in the Marbella neighborhood and deported Thursday.  He is wanted for 12 counts of financial fraud in Pennsylvania and is now in the hands of the U.S. Marshal Service.

Panama’s Immigration Service notes that Whalen entered the country on July 25, 2009 from Aruba; on November 3, 2009 from Colombia; and again on February 18, 2010 from Costa Rica.

In somewhat related news, Panamanian authorities also apprehended U.S. fugitives Frederick Allen Osburn, William Dathan Holbert and Laura Michelle Reese within the last month.

I'm hoping Peter R. has received more tips/info since Joran's arrest.  Perhaps they wanted to give Joran an opportunity to give his side, before the story breaks.  If this is the case, we'll see some weird theories as soon as Anita gets the group together.

My take:

Everyone knew this guy was a fugitive from the law for the year he was in Aruba, and the cops did nothing!  Even after he swindled locals too, and they complained to the police; they did nothing!  They are relieved that the Panama police did what the Aruban police refused to do.

I'm going to work on that last long sentence some more but it seems that it's saying Aruba didn't learn it's lesson letting Joran get away with it!
