Us common folk out here have been pretty kind to Tim over the years. From those that turned out to search - and who knew that they might be the subjects of court orders - to those that gave donations til it hurt.

And I seem to remember something about a hurricane destroying Tim's barn and hay for his horses. More donations rolled in. Or did I imagine all that.

It would have been nice if Tim recalled all the good that came his way before he ripped Beth apart.

A SAR Impersonator

This information was posted on the SAR-L email list and, with permission, I'm sharing it here in order to help spread the word:

During a massive search in the San Diego area, a man named Stephen Watts, a.k.a Steph (pronounced "Steff"), presented himself to the Sheriff's Department and coordinating agencies as a member of 1st Special Response Group (1SRG), a known and reputable organization, in an attempt to insinuate himself into law enforcement search efforts. Soon after, Mr. Watts began blogging about his actions, including sensitive search information.

1SRG has never had a member, past or present, by this name or any reasonable variation, nor have they ever received and/or denied an application by such a person.

1SRG launched an investigation and determined that Stephen Watts is a freelance "investigative" reporter who provides titillating and "newsworthy" information to on-air broadcasts such as Nancy Grace, Greta Von Susteren, CourTV (now HLN), and other entertainment providers.

1SRG is sharing this information because Mr. Watts appears to have repeatedly joined with Texas Equusearch in their efforts and has made a number of other attempts prior to his actions in San Diego to insert himself into other search missions. He falsely stated that he was with 1SRG in an effort to further his own cause. Apparently, he has done this before, and 1SRG is concerned that he may try to do so again in the future.

From information obtained during the investigation, Mr. Watts arrived in San Diego, along with Tim Miller and Texas Equusearch, in the search for the McStay family. You can read the McStay relatives' account of  their experience with Mr. Watts at http://www.mcstayfamily.com/steph-watts-rumors.

While in San Diego with Texas Equusearch, Chelsea King disappeared, and Mr. Watts used that opportunity to get involved with a growing national news story.

After verifying their initial information with several agencies and individuals, 1SRG notified both the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and the California Emergency Management Agency, the local SAR coordinator, state SAR coordinator, and, since this was an investigative effort that included federal agencies, contacts within the FBI. Based on further discussion, this issue is said to have been "handled and considered resolved."

1SRG also attempted to contact Mr. Watts through his personal webpage, his Facebook page, a phone number he gives on his website, and through email, in addition to their posts on the SAR-L lister and elsewhere. Mr. Watts has not returned their contacts.

On March 12th, formal "cease and desist" letters were sent to Mr. Watts, CourtTV/HLN, Nancy Grace, Greta Von Susteren, and those agencies who employ Mr. Watts for their "news" services, instructing them that any attempt to use 1SRG's name, logo, reputation, or other team affiliation would be met with legal action and that 1SRG would assist other SAR teams who may find themselves in a similar position.

This information is being provided in the attempt to stop Mr. Watts from breaching law enforcement and search mission security as he seeks confidential or legally protected information, as well as to protect both 1SRG and other SAR teams from those same efforts.

Thank you again Texasmom - this is gold as it relates to exposing Watts. Watts even posts a neg against the family in the comments on the McStay family site (link you inserted above) - it's worth the read - how very telling about Watts.

Can I make a suggestion? Why not keep adding to that Watts transcript thread, pull everything that can be found on Watts that's revealing and post it there? SM does pop up on searches very effectively and it there is a centralized place 'exposing' Watts then it likely would do lots to expose him further?

As for Tim, geez how misguided can you be. There would be no extortion charge against Joran if not for Beth. Since his arrest Joran has done all he could to inflame and offend Beth, he often directs it all at Beth and not at Dave. I don't care what Joran thinks of her, he's a murderer right?

Whenever women ask the questions no one else wants to ask, or are willing to be just as assertive as a man - we hear these same types of criticisms. Honestly Tim and Watts need to find a new angle for that one is old, tired, and so transparent.

So how does she interfere with an ongoing investigation?  She goes over there, confronts him, spooks him, scares him, gets him to tell them the story and now he doesn’t want to talk to you know the people he was talking to before.  He throws his hands up in the air and says all this is off...you guys sprung Beth on me.  That’s how she interferes with an ongoing investigation Tim Miller.  Agree or disagree?

Tim Miller:  I one hundred percent agree... I one hundred percent agree... I .. I think she should have...  Beth needs to understand, Beth is the mother, Beth is not the investigator.

Tim Miller says Misty came to him to help with a new search, because she wanted a chance to clear her name. So he set up an independent polygraph test for her.

Miller says Misty "failed it miserably." Misty agreed to take the tests even though her attorney told her not to. Miller says she also failed voice analysis and did not cooperate with a hypnosis test.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is hardly shocked. They say Misty's account of the night in February, when the then 5-year-old girl disappeared, is sketchy and full of holes.

Miller gave the tests results to investigators.

Tim is not a cop.  He is search and rescue.  Each family has their own story.  They handle things differently.  For him to go out and publicly bash Beth because he felt it would hurt the investigation is uncalled for.  In the same instance he said there was a plan for Dave to go visit Joran.

The only difference between Beth's visit and Dave's future visit would have been no TV crew.  Was Dave going to go in there without wearing a wire to tape the conversation.  What good would that do.  He wasn't going to get information out of Joran.  Was he going to go in there with a map and ask him point to where you put Natalee?  Joran would have pointed to a place on the map and say she is here and we all know he would be lying.

Tim Miller is FOS regarding any investigation.  The FBI isn't going to tell Tim Miller their plans.

And all of a sudden Tim Miller has become Aruba friendly.  He has a short term memory.

JMO.

That map was like something straight off a cap'n crunch cereal box. It's a joke. Joran the entertainer at your service, once again. He doesn't know where she is - he never has.

Beth and De Vries seem to know that.

Hi Janet- I completely agree with this post. One standard for Beth yet another for Tim.

Tim should not be arranging polygraph's for any suspect nor should he ever speak of those results either.

Ironically, I just received an email to renew my membership with TES.  Here is my response.

I was ready and willing to renew my membership as I always felt Tim has been a hero for the missing and has done such great work.  I've worked side by side with him, have donated time and money.  However,  I am struggling now and 2nd guessing him since his accusations and bashing of Beth Holloway on Steph Watts show.  Many people at ScaredMonkeys.com and other sites were made aware of him during the Natalees case and helped bring his notoriety, therefore, bringing in more money and support for TES.  Beth has set aside her own concerns to help in searches and attended fundraisers. What more does he want if he has repeatedly stated he never accepts money from a victims family? .   I am totally in shock, as I've always loved Tim, but I am so confused at what he is becoming?  He just hurt so many supporters, who have defended him to no end and has contributed so much to TES, by those comments about Beth.  I can't imagine how Beth feels, but his comments are certainly going to affect future support.  I ask that he at least apologize to her.

Again, I appreciate what Tim does and would consider recommending him to anybody for his awesome experience, but I have to rethink how his comments may affect future searches. What is happening to Tim?  He seems to be loosing it?  Not the same guy I met a couple years ago.  Makes me sad.....

Does Tim Miller really forget that it was a corrupt Aruban investigation that was H--- bent on protecting Joran and Paulus that hindered TES' search in Aruban waters for the remains of Natalee Holloway in the months following her disappearance or ... does Tim's silence encompassing the Persistence betrayal as well as his professional relationship with Silvetti and Shaefer imply that he has been influenced to become a participant to the Aruban cover up agenda?

TIM MILLER: We actually had our team from Florida State University. Our underwater divers actually had a connection with somebody with the Navy who was willing to go ahead and bring their equipment. Gene Ralston, one of our members has equipment to go 800ft deep and he’s done a lot of stuff with the FBI and made those contacts. We gave Chief Dompig the phone number at the FBI. They were willing to bring their equipment. Gene was willing to bring his equipment. Everything just literally stopped. We had no clue what went wrong, our trip was basically in vain.

DAVE HOLLOWAY, NATALEE HOLLOWAY‘S FATHER:  Well I arrived on the island on October the 18th and the following day I met with Dompig and he requested the assistance of the FBI, indicated that he would like for them to come back and utilize them as much as he could.  So we said well, we‘ll try to see if we can make that happen. 

In the meantime, he indicated that we needed to focus our search efforts into the ocean so you know, we‘re not going to waste any time.  So we took off along with Tim Miller with EquuSearch and had boats in the water I believe by the weekend and we soon realized that we would need the assistance of the FBI and some of their search equipment, so we forwarded an e-mail to Mr. Dompig on Wednesday, sometime Wednesday requesting that he make a phone call to the FBI so that we can get this underwater equipment. 

And I ended up having to leave the island on Thursday and then—and my reports back from those individuals who were left, they felt like the light had been turned out.  And so I followed up again Saturday with the same e-mail the you know we‘re all sitting on the bank and we cannot get in the water until we get the assistance of the FBI and that team finally had to leave this past Monday or Tuesday.

And that‘s when he was needing the officials on the island to contact or pick up the phone and make one phone call to the FBI for some additional equipment. And they refused to do that.

What more does he want if he has repeatedly stated he never accepts money from a victims family? .   I am totally in shock, as I've always loved Tim, but I am so confused at what he is becoming?  He just hurt so many supporters, who have defended him to no end and has contributed so much to TES, by those comments about Beth.  I can't imagine how Beth feels, but his comments are certainly going to affect future support.  I ask that he at least apologize to her.

Again, I appreciate what Tim does and would consider recommending him to anybody for his awesome experience, but I have to rethink how his comments may affect future searches. What is happening to Tim?  He seems to be loosing it?  Not the same guy I met a couple years ago.  Makes me sad.....
