President Calderón offered his Guatemalan counterpart the Mexican people and government's solidarity over the lives lost in Guatemala due to the recent natural phenomena. He also told President Lobo that Mexico hopes that the normalization of bilateral diplomatic relations will help promote understanding, cooperation, security and the reinforcement of democratic institutions in the region.

The two leaders also agreed over the importance of consolidating the programs and initiatives in the Project for the Integration and Development of Mesoamerica. They also instructed their respective authorities to continue negotiations to achieve a FTA between Mexico and Central America to ensure their completion in 2011 as scheduled.
