Snipped regarding what we can expect next week at trial.

October is one of my favorite months. Gone is the heat of summer and the clear, crisp days let me work in my garden for hours on end. Those chilly, drizzly days are perfect for naps on the sofa wrapped in my favorite Betsy Ross panne/fleece blanket. The past weeks have been pure bliss. Oh, I surf the computer early in the morning and late at night to keep up with the latest in the Casey Anthony murder trial. Fortunately, there was a bit of a slow time and I've been able to indulge myself. However, it's almost "Pumpkin Time" and I've had to abandon them for now.

Sorry Caylee, the jury took your day away.

an angelic monkey  Confused here.  I know why Baez is called Bozo, but Jarhead?  Did I miss some antics somewhere that involved a jar?

No, you didn't miss anything Zoomonkey......... it's a stretch! "Mason" became "Mason Jar" and "Mason Jar" became "Jar" and "Jar" became "Jarhead".

It's a tortured progression, I know, but there it is!

Thanks.  That does make sense then.  Works for me.

I don't believe for one second that any of the high profile attys would be jumping ship unless they clearly saw the writing on the wall that says "GUILTY BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT!"

These guys thrive on attention and they've honed their skills to pull rabbits out of hats against all odds. In this case the only thing they can find to pull out is a rat named Casey and they do not want to risk their reputations on a sure defeat where they will just look foolish. They can come up with any excuses they want, the truth is that they KNOW Casey is going DOWN.

Makes my day! Casey's got Baez and Jarhead. They'll stay because they're loosers anyway. Becoming a famous looser is a step up for them.

ITA with everything you said.
Casey's going down and hopefully the rest of the scheme team (including the A's) will follow....the domino effect.

     Happy Sunday Monkeys!

If one agrees to work pro bono on a case, why don't they feel expenses that they incur to do the job, is not included?  Just excuses to leave the sinking ship IMO.  Those that have left, excluding Macaluso, gained what they were after....self promotion for other avenues in their own lives.  If Casey was truly innocent, they would stay as that would further the recognition they are seeking.  LKB has been distant for awhile now....do we know for a fact that she did depose those in VA?  Could she have found out something during the depositions that made the decision for her?  Most likely not, they have all known for 2 years that Casey killed her child...these experts are now realizing that there is no way to cause reasonable doubt, it just isn't there as the evidence and facts all point to GUILTY!

He's too arrogant not to (even though it's against the law to abandon her).

A Magnificently Hinky Birthday Party

Well, today The Hinky Meter is one year old.  Such a cute little toddler it is!  I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the commenters here who have made the past year such a great learning experience.  I appreciate your dedication to knowledge, to seeking the facts, and to fighting for the protection of our children.  I feel very close to many of you who I have been able to get to know “on the backside”.  It is ironic that the blog’s first birthday falls on a Sunday which has become our “day of rest” from the bad news that a lot of these cases bring.  I wanted to remind the readers here of the “victories” that we have watched over the past year here at The Hinky Meter.  Some of them jubilant, some of them saddening, but nonetheless all some degree of victory for the victims and their families:

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/breakingnews/os-casey-anthony-lawyer-leaves-20101022,0,558773.story
 By Anthony Colarossi, Orlando Sentinel

5:38 p.m. EDT, October 22, 2010
Long-time Casey Anthony defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden has left the defense team citing financial limitations in continuing to represent her.

Kenney Baden's motion to withdraw as counsel in the high-profile case was filed in court this afternoon.

The New York City based attorney cited financial reasons for her departure and state rules surrounding Casey Anthony being declared indigent for costs in the murder case.

She noted that the defense team must comply with Justice Administration Commission rules in this case.
As out of state counsel I have been traveling to Florida and elsewhere to properly represent Ms. Anthony," she wrote in her motion. But, she added, it is her "understanding that the JAC prohibits payment of such costs to out of state attorneys even though they have rendered and are rendering their services free of charge."

Kenney Baden goes on to say she cannot continue representing Casey Anthony "in the absence of substantial funds to cover the costs of travel and reimbursement for expenses, which she anticipates will increase as trial approaches…"

She added that like Andrea Lyon, who also withdrew from the case as an out of state counsel earlier this year, she has worked hundreds of hours on the case.

"I believe in the client's innocence to the charges and do not wish personally or professionally to withdraw from this case," she wrote. "Nonetheless, because the state of Florida fails to reimburse out of state pro bono attorneys for expenses, I am forced to make this application…"

She says she cannot represent Casey Anthony "from afar without the necessary interactions and appearances in Florida."

Casey Anthony, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie. Her trial is expected to start in May. She faces a possible death sentence if convicted.

LOL.  Love it!  So the "Dream Team" slowly disintegrates....  And all Casey is left with a bunch of inept idiots to defend her.  Karma baby!

Linda Kenney Baden, NO MONEY, NO BADEN!

Hi trim!  Hi monks!

from the above referenced article:
KB knew from the beginning that Casey was selling off pictures of Caylee and made $200,000 and there was no more money to be made.  Baez got his slice of the money, about $360,000 now, and I guess he is selfish to share!

I think BOZO let them all to believe there was a lot more money coming...and there might have been had NBC and BOZO not been exposed. I really don't think LKB went into this thinking she wasn't going to get anything out of it or that she would be responsible for her own expenses.  IMO she has been unofficially off the case since AL bailed...she was simply waiting til the time was right to file officially.
