JSM and anyone else who likes skating.  Battle of the Blades is on again.  Season opener tonight.  During practice yesterday Anabelle Langlois & Georges Laraque had a big accident.  She was holding onto his neck and spinning around his head and something went wrong.  He had to get 12 stitches across his forehead as her skate almost scalped him. 

  I so wish I could see Battle of the Blades..  12 stitches, that is scary. Remember when Jessica Dube got gashed in the face. That was awful.

Love the pictures and hope you are feeling better. Happy Thanksgiving BTW.

Yes that was horrible as well.  It caught her cheek if I remember correctly.  Laraque sliced his forehead open from over his ear to over his nose almost.  He was saving Anabelle from falling on her head.  They performed it flawlessly last night including the crazy spinning around his neck twice thing.  Man oh man the crowd was on pins and needles and cheered when they finished that part. 

Kat was absolutely gorgeous and one of the judges started flirting with her.  This is going to be a good season.  Results are tonight. 

Yeah, that was horrible seeing her fall flat on the ice. Left a nasty scar on her as well. I saw Katia on youtube, don't know if it was from last night or what. Her partner is a doll. I will try and find Anabelle's as well on youtube.  Please keep giving me updates on the show. I wish one of our networks would do a show like this.

I bet NothernRose has a good hot chocolate recipe.   

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup white sugar
1 pinch salt
1/3 cup boiling water
3 1/2 cups milk
3/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup half-and-half cream OR whip cream

Mix the cocoa, sugar and pinch of salt in a saucepan. Whisk in the boiling water. Bring this mixture to a slow boil while you stir. Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes. Watch that it doesn't burn. Stir in 3 1/2 cups of milk and heat until very hot, but do not boil! Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour into mugs leaving room for the cream. Add the half-and-half or whip cream to the mugs of cocoa to cool it to drinking temperature.

Wow, I bet that is delicious.
You have successfully ruined Swiss Miss Diet Hot Choc. for me.   

LOL.  This is more of a comfort food than a drink and it is so yummy and creamy.  It also helps make tears go away, owies feel better, winter feel less cold, and of course is the perfect way to warm up after skating or building a snowman.  If you want to get really fancy you can grate some chocolate on top and then stick an After8 mint stick in as your stir stick.

Georges was the enforcer for the Oilers.  He is a great fighter and sh1t disturber,  He then got traded to Pittsburgh and then on to Montreal.

Just a quick comment about Rick Sanchez, I have watched him a few times, can't say I like the guy, but will say that Jon Stewart is an azz. I love comedians up to a point. I don't like comedians like Stewart who have so much pull and like to go after a person the way he does endlessly. And that is what he did with Sanchez, so a part of me thinks that Sanchez snapped from all the BS that Stewart kept throwing his way. Stewart must be a very miserable human being, and by going after people with his not funny comedy it must make himself feel better. Can't stand comedians like him. Steven Colbert on the other hand even though I sure don't think he is that funny, at least he doesn't appear to me to have a mean bone in his body who is out to destroy people.

  I can't stand Jon Stewart or comedians like him. I'm sure that pushed Sanchez's button a bit, but Sanchez went on an anti Semitic rampage and that is what got him fired. ITA Stewart must be a miserable SOB. Hope you are having a good morning No Rose. 

I'm not condoning either person, that stupid Jon Stewart show is on in this house, and while I'm downstairs I listen and he is just a mean human being. My dad who just hates Sanchez was thrilled when I told him he was fired

Tuffy and Russ.  Russ has a very sad story.  His dad was a HUGE Toronto fan.  He went through a depression and killed himself within 12 months, before Russ made it into the NHL.  Russ was then signed on with Toronto after his dad's death and his Dad never got to see him play.  Russ skated this for his dad last night.  I cried during the whole skate as I was watching it last night.

Thanks for the info Northern. I'm not really into hockey that much, just now learning about it. I barely know who is on the Stars, much less other teams.
