WOW Good game tonight. Not as good as last night, but good.

Yes, I agree.

I like Buster Posey though. Great player, only 23 years old. New to the majors and is playing so well. I love watching him.

Brandi and JSM Thanks for the info on Parkland Hospital.  The article about Parkland that was written 30 years after the event was interesting.  I never thought about other patients being treated at the same time as the president.  I also didn't know it was an indigent hospital.  One of the things people like Obama and Pelosi forget---everyone who presents at an ER is treated, insurance or not.  Any hospital which receives Hill-Burton funds must accept everyone, and most hospitals accept those funds, at least they did when my husband was practicing.

JSM That was interesting that the doctors you work for treat everyone no matter if they get paid or not.  My husband practiced in an area with a lot of Amish and they would bring things to barter.  He got lots of strange things like blood sausage (Eewww) but he didn't care.  He treated everybody and didn't actually get involved in whether or not they could pay.  His office staff knew his feeling about it and told people who couldn't pay to just not worry about it.  He was the finest man I have ever known.

JSM---I forgot to comment on the big "X" in the street.  I didn't know about it.  I think that most people who are alive today were not alive when President Kennedy was shot.  I was.  I remember it very well.

Not only do I remember I can tell you where I was and what I was doing when the news was reported. A group of us were skipping class and were in the Toronto subway at the toll booth. The toll taker had a radio on and we stood there not believing it had happened. Went to my apartment and tuned in a Buffalo station and sat there the rest of the day listening to the American news in disbelief.

Green Eyes' satellite got zapped in the storm today, she is fit to be tied...had to talk to India to report, which went well (haha).  So hopefully she won't be down too long, shes already in withdrawl.  I may have to take her a Zanax!

Oh remember the "DAY" so vividly also.  Was a freshman in H.S. had just come back to class from lunch and it was announced over the P.A. that JFK had been shot.... Teacher asked, please anyone that has a Transistor radio with them, he promised not to bust us if one of had  one....Well of course I just happened to have said "banned" piece of equipment and we all gathered around, when it was announced that he didn't survive the principal dismissed classes for the rest of the day.   I dreaded going home, my mom just adored him and I knew she would be inconsolable....Tv wasn't turned off for days, we didn't miss a moment of the coverage, she was so devastated.

My first visit to Texas 9 years ago, the first chance I got, I made it to Dallas (all by myself) and this is no easy city to manueaver around in.  Standing on that street looking at that X
was just so moving, I've been back 4 times and it still has the same affect.

Love it here in Texas....but   DFW you have got the goofest freeway system I've ever encountered, this coming from someone who has spent my entire life in So.Calif., DFW ya know there are alot more numbers BESIDES   "35"  ya'll could have used for your Interstate system!!!!!

Baby, you are right, no one can be turned away for treatment at an ER, they can however once stablized be sent to the county hospital (Parkland). That happened to my grandmother when she was at the ER that didn't take Secure Horizons. They sent her to another hospital. That being said, Pelosi and Obama are idiots and I hope to the good Lord this healthcare bill gets overturned. Our doctors really work with patients and if they don't have money, usually the hospital writes off the charges as do we. But if they were seen somewhere else, usually we either let the pay a buck her a buck there and they pay it off. If they are not able to because of other circumstances we just write it off. Your husband sounds like he was a wonderful man, glad we don't have Amish patients as I would hate to get blood sausage in the mail

I wasn't born when he was shot, I didn't realize how close to the highway he was shot. I couldn't figure out why people were running to the middle of the street to get their picture taken until I asked then they told me about the X. All I remember as a kid is that it creeped me out when they would run the footage of him being shot.

Wow, you skipped school sounds kinda like my mom when it happened she went home and came back telling the teacher that he was shot and she sent her to the prinicpal for lying. That teacher still remembers that every time she sees my mom and the old lady has to be 100 years old.

Babs, sorry about the satellite. So you had contraband radio at school? They X on the road had me floored as I didn't know it was there. Never really thought that much about it I guess because growing up here all you ever heard was Dallas is such a bad city, you shot the President, yada yada from people that werent from here.  Even as a grown up I went to England and all they could say is I remember that day that you shot the President.  Dude I wasn't even born. It is a blackeye for Dallas and sad to say still is.

I love it about only freeway being named 35... there are two then there is 635, then they also have names which is even more confusing because the traffic people use the names, not the numbers and don't get me started. Luckily I have lived here my whole life I just drive and somehow get where I am going

In Michigan we do not have "county hospitals" anymore. The rule was (and is) when I worked in the ER you could only move the person if there was a medical need to move them, like specialized care, and you had to have a doc at the other hospital willing to take them. When I worked at the ER we had the only neuro and burn unit around - so we got all of those. We also got all the trauma from up north because they could not handle them.

Wow, no county hospitals. The hospital I work at (not an employee) is not for profit so they take everyone and if the patient can't be transferred and needs surgery the hospital and doctors usually have to write the services off. Happens all the time. Usually if it is trauma or burn, the patient is taken straight to Parkland because it is the best trauma/burn center around here.

I don't even want to discuss the county hospital close to us. Let's just say I worked for a hospital and it was a private hospital and then they started taking welfare patients, and when there would be an overflow of ready to deliver ladies they would send to the hospital I worked at. We went from maybe five babies a week being born, to the nursery overflowing constantly. I have no comment about health care, insurance, in the area where I live. Just know the hospital we use is decent and we like it.
