Yes, Sunfreak, good post!

I'm like you, I was never sure this was an event that had a bigger picture than a drugged gang rape, but there are many things that come together when viewed in the light of the Diario investigation. The whole tourism vs. Van Der Sloot has always been troubling to me. You would think that at some point, the Paulus/Van der Stratten relationship just wouldn't be worth it, but the cover-up persists despite real harm. I know that tourism isn't the only source of income on that island; there's drugs and other sources of corruption that feeds into the economy, but I've never felt it tourism was insignificant either.

If the truth coming out would hurt tourism even more, then the shoddy investigation and continued cover-up makes more sense, IMO.

I try to keep 2 things in my mind regarding this case/

1) Senator Bacchus early on in the case encourage a great deal of FBI involvement saying in effect that the H/T family already knows the reasons for this urgency.

2) Beth's announcement that waht they know about this case/Aruba will shock the world.

Porn, especially child porn & rape porn would enraged most God/higher Power oriented citizens.  And it would capture the attention of the FBI, and one would hope InterPol.  It seems like a dirty secret no one wants to think about or speak of and a deep evil pocket of sickness that no one has the guts to put the squeeze on.  When it pops the vilest of the vile will be revealed and it just may be too much for too many to handle (sort of like the stories of martians captured in Utah in the 40's or 50's)

G'night y'all from Hot'lanta. I'm going to try to dream of a White Christmas to cool this pace down. Sleep well fellow Monkeys.  Perhaps tomorrow will be an exciting day, although I'm anxious for Dana's show on Thursday.

That's great and all Idstlou!  And, I appreciate your enthusiasm.  But, I think some are forgetting that blatant disrespect should never be tolerated...even in a family setting.  Things were said earlier that can't simply just be forgotten as far as I'm concerned.  If that makes be the bad guy, then so be it...

Just my 2 cents.  Enjoy your evening.

Strike

Thanks for posting that, Strike...  I was sitting here almost feeling like a real creep because of wanting an apology ~ and not being able to just forget...

You know...I agree 100%!! about the respect factor!! But I don't think there is a person on this blog who does not have anything but respect for the Reds, Tom and Klaas. But I also know it happens...that people get carried away with their day...a moment...a problem...and lose it!! But the one thing I have taught my son...is if you ask me...I will always forgive you...and maybe your family is not as nuts as mine!! haha But when push comes to shove...we always come together for each other...and I truely believe....that the Monkey's are the same way!!

Read back this morning.  Then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about...

I agree about forgiveness.  It's God's way (my apologies for those who don't believe).  But, to be forgiven, you must acknowledge wrongdoing, and be willing to accept forgiveness by way of that acknowledgement.  As of yet, I don't believe this to be the case...

This has absolutely nothing to do with you Idstlou.  Again, I appreciate your perspective.  Got nothing but love for you...Wink

Strike

And you just managed to explain what I'm feeling inside...  but didn't give enough thought to, to try to explain myself in my last post...

Anyways ~ good night ~ or good morning ~ to anyone who is here ~ I'm headed off to bed ~ I want to hit the Convention Center in the morning...

As for tacky joe... well the fact that he is representing Immette St. Gillen's family is the most troubling to me... I mean similar circumstances, and yet it's ok for her family to sue NY, the bar, etc.

He states that she was a young woman who was taken advantage of... and yes I agree with him on that, but Imette was 25 and Natalee was 19 and yet he stated that Natalee was old enough to know better...

And the humidity could choke even a frog.  It's another stay indoors type of day.   It's not health advantageous to be outdoors.  Bring your pets in out of the heat and give them plenty of water everybody.

I think it doesn't matter to the ones perpetuating the cover-up because they don't earn their living from tourism.  Only the everyday person living in Aruba does that...

Mrs. Red  - I think all of the ill gotten gains have a way of trickiling down.

Why else would the police have asked for money?  They, hotel managers, casino dealers, bartenders are all being paid off!

It's an Aruban tradition!

The ones perpetuating the cover up must be giving out the most money!

I'm watching an interview with the girl Christie Brinkley's husband had an affair with she is so FOS.  She said I regret it a lot and didn't want this to happen at all Rolling Eyes .  He was supposedly leaving money for her and buying her lavish gifts.

Then I have  to watch that puke face Joe Tacopina sitting there trying to defend her.  He said Peter Cook preyed upon her naivete and her young age.  Really Joe you POS.

What about the psycho you are defending in Joran Van der Sloot who did worse.
