Thank you Texasmom for that video clip. Boy, doesn't Beth look good? Maybe it is just me, but she looks like she knows something, or maybe, just seeing Joran in that prison in Peru was what she needed.

That interviewer sure wanted to push Beth into talking about Joran.  Beth was very gracious about it, though.

Beth does look great!  No wonder Joran wanted to $h!t a brick when he saw her, with her hair color and her eyebrow pencil, she sure does look like Nat.  Beth has done what no country has done so far, and that is to get under Joran's skin.

I just wanted to say that the first page of this thread brings tears to my eyes.  All of the moderators (and Klaas) have posts on this page.  2NJ is there in spirit, her neighbors, San and myself are there, and I hold her in my heart.  I could walk to NJ from my house.  (Maybe she will edit one of the posts in the first page just to show the world I really can count!)  I think is must be a one of a kind beginning to a thread.  I hope it means that this is the thread that will bring the news that ushers our girl home.

The second thing, all of us are back together, and posting.  Strong women, I am so proud to be among you.

I wasn't around for the thread change because we were attending a cousin's wedding.....a celebration Natalee was denied, a celebration Beth, Dave and Matt will never share with her.  I'm always here in spirit when life brings me elsewhere.

Good morning to all.

I posted this in the Oil & Gas thread, too.  Last report stated projected restart December or January....

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/valero-swings-to-profit-on-better-refining-margins-2010-10-26?siteid=rss

Valero Energy Corp. /quotes/comstock/13*!vlo/quotes/nls/vlo (VLO 17.79, +0.02, +0.08%) said Tuesday it swung to a third-quarter profit of $292 million, or 51 cents a share, from a loss of $629 million, or $1.12 a share, in the year-ago period. Operating income rose to $571 million, versus an operating loss of $238 million. Income from continuing operations totaled 52 cents a share. Revenue rose to $22.2 billion, from $18.6 billion. The San Antonio, Texas refining giant cited higher margins for diesel and better discounts for low-quality feedstocks, combined with higher volumes. Wall Street analysts expected Valero to earn 50 cents a share, on revenue of $20.8 billion, according to a survey by FactSet Research. Valero said it's on track to re-start its Aruba refinery in mid-December.

May I effe "Victim in jail '

October 21, 2010, 13:52 (GMT -04:00)

Filmmaker and writer René van Nie shows five days a week, from Monday to Friday, this newspaper in his own distinctive vision of all kinds of things in society. He claims reactions to price: vannie@setarnet.aw. Today: 'Victim to jail. "

I thought Andin Bikker, leader of PDR on the carrier of the ASF meezeulde bike as a sort of tolerated game, even though he did not need, because without him the full stamp parliament. But now he has something of themselves heard and collect signatures for the introduction of a law that gives citizens the right to self defense in case of burglary in their home or business. I can not believe what I write.

Imagine a moment of madness, there are signatures for the law might need to get through it, otherwise our leaders see no reason for it. So Andin first half Aruba mobilize the usefulness of that law to stress. First, I find it very Bikker is doing what the other is absurd that even countries - including the Netherlands and Aruba - who punish the victim when they defend their homes while the criminals after a few hours, if caught, again walking around the streets looking for new victims. And I understand not sack the judges who run this insane law.

An old grandfather of 86 years who defended himself against a tall Hells Angels, which was handing out punches and half years' imprisonment was, while the Hells Angels showed the instigator. "How was your day today, Dad?" I hear a child asking her father for dinner. "Oh fine, I'm a father to four months in prison sentenced because he protected his child when he was in broke." "Well baby, I hear it, that was a tough day. Eat your plate is empty now but tasty and not forget vitamin pill, "adds his wife than. "And tomorrow I get a girl of sixteen years at the counter who was assaulted, but her assailant with a piece of wood was able to keep away from him. The man is now a mild concussion in the hospital. I think that I would surely give three months in prison, because that is obviously not what she did. "Well, if my father was right, then I went to a lawyer to try him from custody to continue. Because the judges themselves had long been in the gun as a way to change this disgraceful act. But they do not have to cry, "we must obey the law."

I myself am ever in a somewhat awkward situation ended when a politician and a specialist in my field emerged to give me a spanking, because I had written something bad about them. Now I must stress that their action ultimately I could appreciate it. Not silly walk to court, but simply ff fight, just like other men. I blame them nothing. But I do remember that I was limited to off and have not beaten back, was wrong because I would have ended in jail and not my two assailants. The law is wrong is not any good for the judges and I do not entirely trust. But this case was me. Would it be to protect my children go, then the heaviness in. I live in quite remote knoek at every door and stole a baseball bat standing. And who is a danger to my family, go for the chop. I have easily have half year KIA forward. As long as I can take my laptop with me to a black book on justice and what can go wrong with obtuse to hanging.

Holloway speaks at Fargo women’s leadership luncheon

Beth Holloway searched Aruban crack houses for her daughter. She considered theories that she was hidden on a cruise ship, sold into slavery or dumped at sea. But all along she had hope, just different phases of hope.

Holloway was the keynote speaker at the 10th annual Women’s Leadership Luncheon, a program of the United Way. About 600 women attended Monday at the Ramada Plaza Suites in Fargo.

Holloway, whose daughter Natalee went missing in May 2005, said it is her life’s work to promote personal and travel safety. She’s established a foundation to provide resources to families of missing persons. She also wrote the book “Loving Natalee.”

“What happened to her can happen to anyone in this room at any time, at any age, in any place,” Holloway said.

In an account she doesn’t sugarcoat, Holloway detailed the morning she dropped Natalee off, the phone call four days later telling her Natalee was missing, and her first days searching in Aruba, as she hoped to find Natalee alive.

After four days, she watched the hotel security tape and realized the prime suspect, Joran Van der Sloot, didn’t return Natalee to the hotel as he claimed.

For the first time, she felt anguish and grief. She said her hope transitioned to finding out what happened to Natalee.

Eventually she got that answer in a confession from Van der Sloot, who said he was with Natalee when she had a seizure and might have died, and he got rid of her body. From the first day, Aruban police asked Holloway if her daughter had a history of seizures.

“When she was least able to defend herself, she was taken,” she said. “I believe she was given a date rape drug, overdosed, and produced those seizures that Joran speaks about.”

Van der Sloot is currently being held in a Peruvian prison for the death of Stephany Flores. Last month, wire fraud charges were brought against him in Alabama. “He claimed he had Natalee’s remains and he tried to sell them to me,” Holloway said.

Holloway said she makes a conscious decision every day to get up and work through her family’s tragedy, to teach others. She said this is her third phase of hope: to move from victim to victor.

Tonya Stende, chairwoman of the Women’s Leadership Council, said because the council’s focus is on children and the United Way’s Success by Six program, Holloway’s story about her own daughter is powerful.

“You can’t replace that mother’s love,” Stende said

I stand with the girl, Natalee Holloway.

"I can look back over the past 10 years and there were no steps wasted, and there are no regrets,'' she said. "I did all I knew to do and I think that gives me greater peace now." "I've lived every parent's worst nightmare and I'm the parent that nobody wants to be," she said.
