I hate it that we have taken a report of she "possibly" was sleeping in the attic and made it real and keep embellishing the story even.  I am not defending anyone but this kind of thing gets so out of hand here any more.  It is just as bad as the sensationalism so many of you claim to hate on NG.

Bananas, IMO getting away from abuse is a likelihood and not an embellishment.  After re-reading the posts about the attic/crawl space, no one has said she "did" go there.  It is a discussion, just as her being presumed dead is a discussion.  I certainly wasn't trying to sensationalize anything -- Zahra's life speaks for itself.
Sorry if I offended you, I don't know what you are referring to when you state ". . . this kind of thing get so our of hand here any more."

What I am referring to is so many times in this forum, someone takes something someone says and states it as a fact then it gets added to and before you know it, everyone is running with it just as if it is the truth.  I see this time and time again.  Oh maybe I should just keep quiet about it.  It won't change anything.

There is no way to stop it from happening to some extent.  Name one place, forum, group of people, phone conversation, political blog or anyplace where it DOESN'T happen.

Investigators return to Zahra Baker's Hickory home

HICKORY, N.C. -- Investigators have returned to the home in Hickory where 10-year-old Zahra Baker was reported missing Saturday.

New cadaver dogs were at the house on 21st Avenue Northwest Friday morning.

NewsChannel 36 reporter Tony Burbeck said the dogs were searching outside and inside the house.

An investigator at the scene said the dogs did not find anything outside the house. He would not comment on whether or not the dogs found clues inside the home.

Investigators removed what appeared to be Zahra Baker's bed. Burbeck reported that investigators put the bed inside the same truck that holds the cadaver dogs.

Authorities said that Adam Baker, Zahra's father, was inside the home at the time of the search and consented to the search.

NewsChannel 36 will have more details on this developing story as information is released.

hello Northern

what do you make of them saying nothing detected outside but no comment on the inside ??(my summary of the sentance)

They are not done searching yet inside by the sounds of it.  The video said they took out something and then the bed.  If the bed had evidence I do not think it would have been placed in the same truck that holds the cadaver dogs.

Hi, all.  This may be far fetched, and I am not that familiar with searching dogs, but remember in the Kyron case when the parents wouldn't allow Harry Oaks to search, people on the forum kept saying that if they would give Harry a part of Kyron's mattress, his dogs would have enough of Kyron's scent to find him?  Do you think they are putting the dogs and mattress in the same truck so that the dogs will have more of this sweet little girls scent to go searching?

But, did they not say the mattress had been wrapped up in plastic or something a few posts back????  Would that not block the scent?

Police take furniture, evidence from Hickory house where Zahra lived
Adam Baker says: "I don’t know. Everybody knows more than me."

HICKORY --
Three pieces of bedroom furniture were brought out of the house where Zahra Baker and her parents lived. All the items were wrapped in plastic, by police authorities Friday morning.

A bed frame, mattress and box springs were brought out after another extensive search of the yard and the house at 21 21st Ave. NW. They also brought two bags containing evidence. About 10-12 law enforcement officers and dog handlers searched the house for more than two hours.

After the material was recovered and brought out of the house, police went out the front door, and Adam Baker, Zahra’s father, went out the back door. He got into a white Chevy Impala, in which he arrived at the house with an unidentified person.

As he was walking out of the house to leave, he was surrounded by media questioning him. When asked what was going on, he said, “I don’t know. Everybody knows more than me.”

He then got into the car and drove away.

They were all wrapped in plastic, so it wouldn't matter what truck they were transported in. They were protected as evidence.

yay!

A little late on commenting on this horrific case.  I wish so much that the Australian grandmother had kept Zahra with her.  What is so odd, and what I don't really get, is what the motive for the father and Evil Elisa to keep her, if they were only going to neglect her.  I wonder if Evil E. had a plan from the beginning.  Have we seen any evidence of an insurance policy on Zahra?

No and I really doubt there is one. With her health issues, I would think a life insurance plan would be expensive to maintain.

I thought at one time EB would use the child to obtain pain killers or other drugs.  I know I am grasping at straws but I can't imagine what either one would have to gain by killing this child.  I think EB would kill just for the sport of it.  She is a bully
and I believe a murderer.

BBM
I don't think it was something to gain, but rather the resentment of having a child.  I'm curious if this little girl had current medical insurance.  If not, as father was a landscaper and SM didn't work, how would they be addressing her medical care.  It's been commented that her cancer went into remission in Australia, so assume they ignored medical care for the last two years.  But now the little girl is growing, so they HAVE to address the prosthetic limb.   It certainly wouldn't fit forever, and at the rate that my children grow out of their shoes, I would think that two years is pushing how long the leg would fit the growing little girl.  I think SM didn't want to pay anything extra toward this little girls care, whether it be money, or even love, effort, space in the apartment, time with her husband, etc.  (I know my ex's current girlfriend resents any money and time that my ex sets aside for his own children!  She acts like they are stealing from her when he buys them presents for Christmas!)

Still can't figure out what they did with the leg.  I wondered if they would dispose of it with the child or separately?  Daddy knows lots more than he is saying.  If I was his mom, I would be on the first flight over here and my son would tell me where my granddaughter was!!!

Of course, you are correct.  My thought was off base.  But maybe they will use the mattress to get the scent for future searches.  This is only in reference to what use the mattress would be if there isn't direct evidence on the mattress.

How can the LE be sure this mattress is the one Zahra used?  From al the reports of keeping her in the attic, crawl space, etc  I am surprised that she has a mattress.  The LE may have taken the mattress to see if they can find any evidence Zahra at all on the mattress.  She may have never used this mattress.  Wonder if they checked the attic on this house???

- The father of a missing North Carolina girl who is presumed dead says he is cooperating with police searching for his daughter and unsure of his wife's possible involvement in the case.

Adam Baker told The Associated Press on Friday he still hopes to find 10-year-old Zahra Clare Baker alive. He says he'll move back to the family's native Australia if the girl wants to go.
