Right now I have to go to the doctor.  I want to start a picture thread of Zahra.  I looked at the whole last thread and this one and I cannot find that picture where she has her mouth open and shows her teeth.

Investigators pursue leads in Zahra Baker disappearance



HICKORY, N.C. – Police continue to investigate leads and tips in connection with the disappearance of 10-year-old Zahra Baker.

Zahra Baker was reported missing on October 9. Emergency crews were called to the house where she and her family were living for an early morning brush fire.  They were called back hours later and told the 10-year-old cancer survivor was missing.

Zahra’s stepmother, Elisa Baker, was arrested the following day on unrelated charges, but charged with obstruction of justice on Monday after admitting to writing a fake ransom note found when Zahra was reported missing.

Police have had trouble putting together a timeline in the case because no one other than the girl’s stepmother, and father, says they’ve seen Zahra since September 25.

On Monday a family friend told NewsChannel 36 that a car the Baker’s had disappeared around the same time Zahra did. She says Elisa Baker regularly drove a 1970’s model Monte Carlo, but she hasn’t seen it recently.  That friend says she doesn’t know if the car broke, or if the family sold it, but that she gave the police the information.

Investigators also spoke with a possible witness who reported seeing someone playing with a lighter on the Baker’s back steps the morning the fire broke out and Zahra disappeared.

Police continue to ask anyone who may have information in connection with the case to contact them as soon as possible.

I thought I read somewhere back that Adam's boss owned a Monte Carlo, wonder if EB had been driving it at some point, then stopped...for whatever reason?

I also believe I heard in a video that Adam was at the home during one of the searches and had gotten there via his boss who drove a white monte carlo.

HICKORY, N.C. (CBS/AP) Elisa Baker, the stepmother of missing North Carolina girl Zahra Baker, is due in court Wednesday morning, charged with obstruction of justice after admitting that she wrote the misleading ransom note found at the scene, according to police.

Police say that, during questioning Tuesday, Elisa Baker confessed to writing the note in order to throw off detectives investigating her stepdaughter's disappearance.

The note was reportedly addressed to Zahra's father's boss and asked for $1 million for his daughter's safe return. Police checked on the man, identified only as Mr. Coffey, and his daughter and found them safe. The house the Baker's lived in is apparently owned by Mr. Coffey.

Thanks MK, i guess i am just wondering a lil deeper what her reasoning to them is, i remember she said it was to throw them off, well obviously they asked why she wanted to throw them off, why and when Z was missing, this type of questioning, i probably make no sense.

Sadly, it does not appear that anything new in any of these cases has occurred.  I just saw Adam Baker's arrest record.  I can not believe that this man was not deported back to Australia.  I am sick of these criminals coming to the US and committing crimes that they are not held accountable for.  Just the fact that he threatened a person with a deadly weapon should have been a one way ticket back to Australia.

I  would be very surprised if E wasn't getting food stamps since she was getting disability.

The bounced checks at the grocery store probably were for things not covered by food stamps..alcohol, cigarettes, etc.  I think she probably wrote them over the amount to get free money..knowing the checks would bounce.

I agree that Zahra appears to have dental problems..maybe a combo of chemo and poor dental care.

I agree that  Dad is a few bricks short of a load.  Had he tried he probably could have gotten free health and dental care fir Zahra..if not through the government then through some organization would have probably guided him in the right direction.

Anyway, I see all of you Monkeys have been busy...busy...busy.  I am pages and pages behind.  My heart is still holding out hope that Zahra, Haleigh, Kyron or baby Gabriel will be brought home someday.  Knowing Zahra's reported family environment, part of me wishes that she has run away...a little fairy lost in the woods hiding from the wicked stepmother...or better yet...a little squirrel hiding away on someone's property...but that d@mn ransom note kind of dashes those dreams.  Another sad day...another lovely soul lost.  Sometimes it just seems so hopeless...But then I see everyone's dedication here and I realize that their are still people who care in this world.

i am suprised that with all this going on we still dont know bio-mom's name! not that its important, just weird! but i suppose it has to do with being so conservative (if thats the right word) about ppls info in Austrailia, i recall some monkeys discussing that.

i bet she never even went to any dr.s or dentists or anything here, poor poor child

Something seems off on these current CNN reports....Why would bio-mom have medical records if she hasn't had actual on hands contact since Z was a baby.  According to grandma, she was Z's caretaker throughout her life with cancer?

Mom's name is Emily.


Where is Zahra's mother?
Zahra's mother is still in Australia where the little girl was born. Some stories are circulating that Zahra hasn't seen her mother since she was 8 months old. In May, when we interviewed Zahra, she mentioned her mother in Australia as if she'd seen her more recently than that.

A woman posted in Australia posted on her Facebook page Tuesday that she was good friends with Zahra's mother, Emily, and that Emily had been searching for Zahra for 5 years. The post went on that Emily found out last week Zahra's father was remarried and living in North Carolina. It also indicated they learned Monday Zahra was missing in NC.

Could very well be, and they are probably requesting medical records from grandma since she is the one who took care of Zahra.

Mom could legally have access to get the records for PD, as a parent usually has to sign for medical release.
Grandma wouldn't be able to sign the medical releases.

JMO
