Zahra search returns to Granite Falls; something found  (with video)


GRANITE FALLS, N.C. – The Zahra Baker investigation took search crews back to the same area the 10-year-old girl's stepmother led them a few weeks ago, but this time, a source told News 14 Carolina something was found.

Authorities closed the intersection of Dudley Shoals and Burns roads around noon Wednesday, searching a wooded area and the banks of Gunpowder Creek. They did not release any details of what they might have found.

The Bakers family lived off Burns Road prior to moving to Hickory. Elisa baker was charged with obstruction of justice in connection with the girl's disappearance.

A candlelight vigil is planned for Nov. 16, Zahra's 11th birthday, at Union Square in Hickory from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Dave Faherty (WSOC) also confirming police found something today...said he knew something was up around 1:00 pm. Search was supposed to end about that time, but instead, media were asked to clear out. LE may be on scene overnight.

Searchers were using paddles in murky, cold water looking for Zahra's remains. Same place police checked 3 weeks ago when EB was brought there with LE. They are searching 1/2 mile either direction, and there are evidence markers where animal bones were found.

Says Zahra's biological mother is soon to be on her way here!

She had said before she wasn't sure about coming yet as she knew all she would be able to do was sit around and twiddle her thumbs anxiously awaiting news.  I wonder if with her coming now if she has been told she should come in light of recent discoveries??

After investigators leave the scene, a few officers will remain behind to keep the area secure overnight, Deal said.
After 33 days, some may wonder if Zahra will ever be found. However, Deal said law enforcement will continue the search for what happened to Zahra until they have an answer.
“We’ll work until every investigative lead is exhausted,” he said, adding that hasn’t happened yet.

If you are talking about this shot I think maybe it's cardboard?  Like what they might set something on to look at it closer.

The big yellow thing is a bag that the searcher is putting leaves and stuff from the ground into .

I just saw on the news they said zahra bio mom will be in here in NC 2morrow and that they found something 2day. But domt know what it is that was found. Sorry if you already know

If they are putting leaves and things into that bag then they likely found a bone or evidence there that they want to collect forensics on in the vicinity of the item.
