I'll drive.  I am 5' 10".............................I always wanted to be dainty................not to be..............

Almost 5'10" here. I have always felt like you Tol.

My heart was broken when I was young and told I was too tall to be a ballerina.

I am 5'6" and have always wanted to be 5"10". My daughter is 5"10 my boys are both 6'1" I could have used the height while they were growing up.

I was 5'6" up until I fell 3+ years ago, crushed better than an inch! I have eldest daughter here for now, she is just over 6'...sure helps to find and reach things! I have always told her that even if I had to stand on a stool to do it, I can still take her out! She is really scared of me...hehe

Well, I am 63 yrs old.  When I was in school I was never called tall....................but big.
It is  easier now, but in grade school and high school it really hurt.

When I was pregnant w/ each of my sons I laid awake at night begging God to not send me daughters as I was afraid that they would be 'big'.  I have 3 sons.     the shortest is 6'4".  Now I know what a blessing a healthy child of any size or gender is.

Anyway, today, I have learned to be what I am and to be grateful and not so touchy.

And btw, I, now, would love a daughter along with my sons.  I watch my friends w/ daughters and realize what a different blessing they are.

Brandi, I was not coordinated enough for ballet, but would have loved to be able to ride on the handle bars of the other kids' bikes vs. alway being the one to pedal...................

I marvel at the amount of time I spent feeling sorry for myself when there is so much good to do and so many people who need love..................I try to make up for my selfishness now.

Thanks to all my monkey therapists........................LOL

BBM  You said it for us all I think!
I grew up as the "pleasantly plump" kid in school...never could(still don't know) what was so pleasant about that!  As far as riding on handlebars? It's not all it's cracked up(or maybe I should say had a lot of crack ups) to be! When my brothers were not dumping me off bikes, they were hiding me in roll aways, in trees, out the 2nd story window...God had a purpose for me to make it through my childhood!

I was loved though!(Pretty sure I still am       )

I am 2nd to the youngest of 9...I have 2 sisters and 1 brother older than you Tol...

Dang it Tolerance tell me who the kids were and I will smack them up side the head.  It was not selfishness on your part. It was your way of dealing with your hurts. That's what makes us human. You are a very caring loving person. No matter if you are tall or big. Two of my favorite aunts were tall/big gals. I always thought they were wonderful. I loved spending the night when I could talk them into it.

Oh how I dislike those dang high shelves in the grocery stores, I spend more time waiting on someone tall to reach things for me than I do shopping!
Love my big truck, and yes I can see over the steering wheel, just not over the hood, so needless to say I do run over a few curbs during my excursions......Glad I live up here in cow country, as most everyone drives big trucks...I only get the "What the heck is she driving that monster" when I'm in So. Cal. with all them mini mouse cars clogging up the roads.

I am almost 66 and reached the height of 5'10' at age 12. I was head and shoulders taller than anyone in my class. My Mum was 5'1' and I so wanted to be petite. Now it makes it easy to get in my jacked up truck. Monkey Devil!
My two shorter sisters have to use the grab bars and side guards to climb into the truck.( like little swinging monkeys ) Love it.

I'd never make it in or out of my truck without the grab bar & side steps, when its wet or icy out usually takes a couple of tries!

Missed the hearing today because some SOB ( not the neighbour) was running a pack of big hounds on the property. I put the truck in 4WD leaned on the horn and went barreling down the hill to the ponds and valley. The hounds were chasing three deer over to the next property where the hunters were waiting. I did donuts, drove into the woods all the time never letting off the horn. I scattered the pack and frightened the deer into my woods then sedately drove back to the house and called the game warden. I will continue to do this every time they run my property. They now know they are dealing with a crazy old lady. Be afraid, very afraid pack owners. Monkey Devil!
