Good morning, Northern Rose and all our Monkey Friends.
It snowed a bit more over night.  sigh.
I am going to put PJ on the treadmill for a good bit of exercise and then hope he won't need such a long walk and maybe just maybe (please God) this winter I can avoid his long walks.  It is just too slick.
Have a great Sunday!

Thank you for prayers.

Tolerance the ice cleats are called" Park Avenue Ice Traction Slip  Ons" Although our weather doesn't match yours she gets black ice on her driveway and it has quite a slope. Works fine for that. Just be careful. Any chance you could get the kids next door to do some of the walking with PJ ?

Northern Rose and Deenie you are missed...come home.

Nana I had a brown recluse bite and it took 3 rounds of Cipro to knock out the infection and then I had an awful looking wound ( tissue died and sloughed off ) the whole episode took about 3 months and I still have a scar. Be very careful it can be serious.

JSM and Bearly prayers coming your way.

Green Eyes..Fancy slept through last night without rearranging the house. She finally slept on Jazz's bed with him. Poor Jazz didn't know what to do.

Brandi how is your weather..this week lows in the midteens with highs in the midthirties. I feel so bad for the feral cats. Jazz and Beela are in their glory.

Off to the store to get the apple cider vinegar for Fancy. See you later.

Just ordered ice cleats.
I found some that have replaceable studs and ordered extras.  That is what was wrong w/ the last ones I ordered and used.  The cleats folded over.
These, hopefully, seem to be mounted better...............
We shall see.
NO MORE FALLING or PJ will have to winter w/ 4 donks so her pack can teach him to poop like a big boy ~ off leash and just running in the yard.

Forgot to mention that today went better w/ him.
I took him out to piddle when we got up.  He does fine w/ that without a big walk.
then he had breakfast.
Then I took him downstairs to the basement.  I put him on the treadmill and after his 'walk' we played with his favorite ball and then I gave him a plastic water bottle (his favorite item to chase) and he ran around the basement w/ that.
The exercise really helped and he pooped on a walk that was less than 1/3 what is our normal distance.
so between the new ice cleats and this method of exercising we should be good for the winter.
I am optimistic.
I hate to make ANY complaints about him, at all.  He is perfect in every way except this need to poop on a walk.
We will work it out.

Hubby is not in as much pain this am. YAY! Still very red, but has receded a bit. I took some pics...kinda ugly, shall I try to post ?

Northern Rose, I miss you too and I am praying for you!~
Tol, ...PJ...lol! You're such a doll!~
GE, Trimm, NRCG, 4Donks...wow, I am overwhelmed with your compassion!~

4Donks- We do not have recluse around here, although there are others in the family~hobo...also black widows. It really is a guess at this point, how do you tell? I am just so grateful he stopped to call me when he did...was heading out through dessert area of OR/ID/NEV where there is no cell signal...God was taking care of him!

I have also been reading up on cellulitis, here is couple of links;

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cellulitis/DS00450

>snip<
Causes
By Mayo Clinic staff

Cellulitis occurs when one or more types of bacteria enter through a crack or break in your skin. The two most common types of bacteria that are causes of cellulitis are streptococcus and staphylococcus. The incidence of a more serious staphylococcus infection called methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is increasing.

Although cellulitis can occur anywhere on your body, the most common location is the lower leg. Disrupted areas of skin, such as where you've had recent surgery, cuts, puncture wounds, an ulcer, athlete's foot or dermatitis, serve as the most likely areas for bacteria to enter.

Certain types of insect or spider bites also can transmit the bacteria that start the infection. Areas of dry, flaky skin also can be an entry point for bacteria, as can swollen skin.

Pugli! Little? I guess average weight for Pugs is 14-18 lbs...this guy weighs 25.5!!!!!       poor thing can hardly waddle. Sad, but he seems to be comfy here with the other dogs. Guess we'll see if posters have a response. Our local "animal rescue" is, well, to put it nicely? Carp!

Hi 4 Donks.

Glad to hear Fancy slept through the night well. Brandi gets allergic ear infections at times during the year. Caused by fungus, (yeast) the Vet says. Sounds similar to Fancy. Occasionally during the winter, she gets itchy spots as well, probably related to the fungal thing. The Vet suggested using her ear medicine on the skin as well. (Tri-otic ointment) I am thinking if she gets another one, I might try the spray combination your Vet suggested on the skin. Brandi is a licker. She loves to lick and lick and lick. She makes those spots on her skin sore. Hoping we can go through a winter without the skin irritations this year.

Yeah, I also have a scar where I got bitten many years ago by a spider.

Sure hope Nana's husband is doing better today.

Hello no rose, Trimm, Tol, Green Eyes and all monkeys. Hope your Sundays are warm and fun. We got about n inch of snow last nght. It was beautiful, looked like fairy snow, all glittery and sparkly as it fell. It has melted now. Calling for highs in the 40's and lows in the 20's to teens for this whole week here.

Going to Sam's Club today. Bet they will be busy. LOL

Nana I'm so glad your hubby is doing better. The reason they assumed it was a brown recluse bite was that it is the only poisonous spider in that area.

Glad you are taking care of Pugli. Animal controls scare me. That is where I got Fancy and they didn't even cut her nails out of the pads of her feet. I'll keep everyone in my prayers.

Just gave Fancy her 1st spray with the 1/2 distilled water & 1/2 apple cider vinegar. She is totally confused, smells like a salad gone bad and the other dog are trying to keep out of smelling distance of her.  Hope it works.

Brandi

Both Mac and Jazz came to me with bad ear infections and the best thing the vet found for them (after several tries) was Zymox enzymatic otic solution. Also he gave me zymox enzymatic shampoo for Fancy's skin allergies (fungus) she is also on antibiotics for the bacterial infection. She is such a trooper. Can't do the shampoo thing till staples are removed so am doing the spray. He said that this will be a continuing treatment and to buy stock in the vinegar company.

I get it. The spray is a stop-gap thingy, not the preferred treatment for the skin.

In light of the description you gave above, I think I'll skip the spray if her skin gets irritated again. LOL

I hope the next two weeks go fast for you. I want those staples out already.
