Didn't Adam call his boss that also has a daughter? Could the boss and the daughter have been at the house when the 911 call was made and that was the child that said daddy?

IF the background voice heard in that 911 recording reveals a child's voice ... the implication is that Adam's boss was in on the coverup.  IMO

I concede that there are muffled background voices in that 911 recording but I cannot make out the words.

Janet

+++++

Adam Baker's 911 Call: My Daughter is Missing.

Audio:

http://media.gatewaync.com/carolina_groups/images/adambaker/index.html

He called his boss because the ransom note was for the bosses daughter. I can't imagine why the boss would bring his child to the Baker home so early in the am., ( or ever ) but I don't see that this makes the boss in on the cover-up.
I hear a child's voice saying daddy, and have to assume it was the daughter of AB's boss.

I definitely hear a child's voice saying Daddy.  For some reason I am recalling the boss's daughter was a teenager?  I will have to go back and look...  I am hoping the authorities have already heard this.  If this was Zahra the implications are staggering.  It would also be very risky for him to have a live Zahra there during his 911 call.  Why would he do this?  The police would be on their way immediately.  Was he there to speak to police when they showed up to take the report?  It doesn't make much sense, but it is absolutely chilling.  It does sound like Zahra.
If this is Laurens voice, Adam made the 911 call at 2 pm, re: Zahra missing.  The 5 am call was made bye SM re: Fire in backyard

Wow!  It took them that long to figure out Zahra was missing??
I believe she was dead and had been so for some time when this call was made.  The gas on the autos was a ploy to fool a dog from hitting on the smell of a dead body.  Evil people!!

That sounds like a toddlers voice.

I hope the cruelty they inflicted on this child haunts them to the grave.

That is what I was wondering how old the boss's daughter was, if she is a teen that doesn't sound like a teen  but there has to be a logical answer because there is no way that I believe Zahra was alive during that call.

Just throwing in a thought here.  I think it has been decided that the voice could be the boss' daughter but there is still a time anomoly.  The evil SM has daughters.  Could it be one of their offspring?  Would the family be there for any reason at that time and left before LE arrived?

Adding I am unable to listen to this tape again as too much background noise here.  Ahhhh Sunday car racing on television -
Good point, that could be possible as well, the voice though sounds more like a child, but some people have voices that sound young.

I think you can hear a man speaking in the backround as well.

There are other 9-1-1 dispatchers in the backround you can hear muffled.

Zahra was happy in Australia.  Wonder how long it will take before releasing the body to the family to bury?

IMO, it won't be soon. It is doubtful they have 'all of her' and may need to do more searching. I'll just be glad when they release even a little more info.
That's what I was thinking, I doubt if they have all of Zahra.

Depending on your religious beliefs, it doesn't matter.  They have enough/all of Zahra's remains to make a positive ID, and hopefully to prosecute these scumbags to the fullest extent of the law.

Zahra's spirit has moved on, her physical body, just a shell she has shed for bigger and better things.

Bumping this from the first thread.......

I guess in between the abuse, arson and Zahra "missing" they found time to put up some Halloween decorations.

You are right.  I do believe as you that she has moved on.  It is still very painful.  I feel so bad for her bio mom and grandmother.

She told him i was her brother and told me that was the only way i could be around when they got here. I wasnt going to abandon her 2 daughters after all she did up and leave them her and went to aussie for a man. I wanted to tell him and eventually i did. I tryed to stay around longer for zahra but things were getting out of hand. (elisa is very very spiteful and 2 faced) I wasnt going to ruin my present relationship with the best woman i know for that stupid bitch. BY THE WAY IM GLAD ZAHRA CANT SEE HOW YOU ARE TALKING TO ME BECAUSE WETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT SHE LOVED ME TO DEATH AND WE LOVED HER AND SHE WOULD BE VERY UPSET WITH YOU SO I HOPE YOU ARE PROUD!!!! My take on AY's FB posts :
So, this Aaron Young hardly knew Zahra at all.
Saw her in Feb, then in August.
So, Elisa said he could not be around them unless he went along with the brother story.
He wasn’t going to “abandon” his step daughters. Duh, the step daughters were not living with Adam / Elisa and were grown ups. Think one of them has a kid. When Elisa went to AU, the daughters were grown ups too.  He had a big dust up with Elisa in Feb then the letter to DSS. So, IMO, he reported the abuse to get back at Elisa.

It sure does!

There are so many questions we want answers to and info we want to know and can't get it fast enough - perhaps it's best for us to get it in bits and pieces - I don't know how much more I could take at this point.

I feel so bad for LE and searchers being so up close to this horrendous case - I hope they are able to take some off time for theirselves.  God Bless them!! an angelic monkey

I think most of us feel the same way. We want the facts like now. But do we really? Just the small amounts we have been given and figure out is so hideous. Truthfully I am not sure I could handle all the info at once or that I want to.  If I live to 100 I will never understand the evil some people have in them.

I hope the LE and all others than are working on finding and trying to figure out how this precious little girl ended up binging killed. Have support from family, friends and God helps them find peace.  an angelic monkey

Zahra's life was short and indeed full of pain.
In many ways I feel that she was "crucified" by those who were supposed to love and care for her.

It is amazing how she has brought so many people together, through her suffering and death.
Many lessons are to be learned here.

I am counting my blessings. Zahra has definetly shown me to do that, DAILY !

<snipped>

While no one has been charged with Zahra's murder, a legal expert told WBTV the prosecution will build a large circumstantial case against whoever is charged.

"There are clear indicators of premeditation or deliberation" said Bill Powers, an attorney and board certified criminal law specialist.  "If there was an instance where prosecution of first degree murder was appropriate, this is looking like it's it."

Another critical piece to the prosecution's puzzle, according to Powers: the bone of Zahra's investigators found last week.

"They're going to look at things like tool marks, or markings on the bone or something to show the methodology," he said. "The big question is then, is their additional forensic evidence to show an intent to try to disguise or hide her remains and seems like that's the route we're going right now."

Questions abound in the Zahra Baker case

Hickory --
Questions about the case abound the day after Hickory police announced that they’d found a bone, which preliminary tests confirmed came from the body of 10-year-old Zahra Baker.

The prevailing theory in the community is that Zahra’s father, Adam Baker, and his wife, Elisa Baker, killed Zahra then cut up her body and disposed of it to hide the crime. This theory and those like it have not been confirmed, and neither Adam nor Elisa have been charged with murder or improper disposal of a body.

But the community does have a lot of questions they’d like answered. They include these questions asked by those who came to the Bakers’ house Saturday:

* “It’s kind of morbid, but I want to know, what did they (Adam and Elisa Baker) do to her?” Julie Fox, 36, of Hickory

* “How can you take a child’s life who’s been through so much, who’s battled so much? Why couldn’t they go to Social Services and give the child up for adoption if they hated her so bad?" Melissa Owens, 20, of Taylorsville

* “We want to know if she (Zahra) ever had any life or any fun at all.” Bruce Houck, 68, of Lenoir

* “I just can’t imagine why the Department of Social Services didn’t catch them (Adam and Elisa Baker) earlier.” Doreta Houck, 49, of Lenoir

* “What can we do as a society to keep this from happening again because we, as a society, let her (Zahra) down.” Ruby Money, 59, of Lenoir

* How can we better protect children we think are abused? What law might have prevented Zahra’s death?

Investigators may have answered some of these questions. They’re working to answer more, but some answers may never come to light.

During Friday’s media briefing, Chief Tom Adkins of the Hickory Police Department announced that the flow of information to the media about the case would be dramatically reduced so as not to imperil the ongoing investigation.

While some were surprised that murder charges have yet to be brought against the Bakers, Capt. Thurman Whisnant of the Hickory Police Department did say he does not foresee murder charges being brought against them this weekend.

“We still have an active investigation going on, and we still have too many unanswered questions this weekend,” he said. “We have not released all of the information we have because we’re protecting the integrity of the investigation, and we’re working to answer lingering questions.”

District Attorney Jay Gaither was also reluctant to discuss the details of the ongoing case.

“At this time, we can’t discuss the evidence in the case, and we share Chief Adkins sentiments following his announcement of the test results from the bone,” he said. “Since the report of Zahra’s disappearance, the District Attorney’s Office has been working more closely with law enforcement than with any other case since I took office eight years ago. I have been meeting with law enforcement on an almost daily basis to receive briefings from the Hickory Police Department, FBI and SBI. I have also been meeting with Chief Adkins to discuss the evidence in the case as it has emerged since Zahra’s disappearance. The ongoing investigation continues to be a priority.”

Whisnant stressed the importance of conducting a thorough investigation in the case.

“We want to be as thorough and have as many questions answered as humanly possible before any additional charges may be filed,” he said. “It would be a mistake to rush into anything without having a complete and thorough investigation and our investigation is ongoing.”

Gaither stressed the focus his office has put on the Zahra Baker case.

“We’ve placed a higher priority on this case than any other since I was elected DA,” he said.

The announcement that the bone found by investigators was from Zahra’s remains came following a 36-day search for Zahra that began after her father, Adam Baker, reported her missing in a casual 911 call made on Oct. 9. He greeted the dispatcher with an informal, “Hi, how are you?” and went on to say that his 10-year-old daughter – who’s entered puberty, is “broody” and only comes out of her room when she wants something – is missing.

Zahra survived two bouts of cancer; one took her left leg, the other took much of her sense of hearing.

A constant flow of mourners streamed to the Bakers’ former home at 21 21st Ave., NW on Saturday. Cars were parked along the side of the road for about 150 yards. People spent the day adding to the makeshift memorial that has grown up around the trunk of an oak tree in the front yard.

Scores of pictures, notes, dolls and toys encircled the tree. Children and adults stood and cried as 17 brightly colored “Happy Birthday” balloons bobbed in the cool breeze. Tuesday, Nov. 16, would have been Zahra’s 11th birthday.

Zahra’s father and stepmother, Elisa Baker, have both been arrested and charged with a long list of crimes unrelated to her disappearance, mainly bad checks, after Zahra was reported missing.

Adam Baker was jailed on Oct. 25 and bonded out of jail on Oct. 27. Elisa was arrested the day after Zahra was reported missing and is still in jail. On Oct. 12, Baker was charged with obstruction of justice after she admitted to writing a fake ransom note demanding $1 million. Later that day, Chief Tom Adkins of the Hickory Police Department announced that the Amber Alert for Zahra had been cancelled and the investigation was being handled as a homicide case.

Elisa Baker is being held on a $97,000 bond.

Police investigators found Zahra’s prosthetic leg in the brush alongside Christie Road in Caldwell County on Oct. 26. Eight days later they found a bone that preliminary tests have identified as Zahra’s remains near the same place.

Monday, investigators found remains that a medical examiner has said are consistent with those of a human child near Gunpowder Creek off Dudley Shoals Road in Caldwell County. The remains have been sent to the SBI lab and the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for testing and verification that they are Zahra’s remains.

Police are awaiting the results of the SBI and medical examiner’s tests with the hope that the results will provide answers to several lingering questions in the case.
