4 DONKS had a great idea.  Find a way to donate to the hospital and camp that helped Zahra.  We are just gathering information right now.

O/T     Tibro or Nightowl I wonder if you could find out if there is a way to donate to either the hospital that treated Zahra or the camp she attende. I would like to make a donation in her name. TIA

What a wonderful and thoughtful gesture 4 Donks.  Thank you from Australia.

Nightowl would be best to confirm the hospital but I am posting summaries from the most likely hospital and their cancer clinic, and also Camp Quality.

Adding a link for another one of our very well respected cancer survivors organisation.  Applicable for teenagers and had Zahra remained in Australia she would have been eligible in another year or so to join.  Just thought it may also strike a chord with some monkeys wishing to support or donate.

Welcome to CanTeen -

12-24 living with cancer. We hope
that you find this site informative and fun!

I just had another thought.  How about donating to the group that fitted Zahra with the hearing aids?

http://triangle.news14.com/content/zahra_baker_case/625689/groups-donate-hearing-aids-to-81-people

CONCORD, N.C. – A 10-year-old girl who battled and beat cancer received a new gift to help her recovery.

Zahra Baker was one of 81 people who received free hearing aids to improve their quality of life Monday at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Baker has a hint of an Australian accent and a faint speech impediment from her hearing loss, a result of her fight with cancer. She also lost her leg, but she didn't lose her will.

"A lot of people don't understand that treatment does tend to take other things away from you," said her mother Elesa Baker, at an event at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The speedway, Starkey Hearing Foundation the National Rifle Association and Speedway Children's Charities invited the children and adults to receive free hearing aids Monday.

"The hearing aids are so expensive. So some of them are going to be able to have hearing aids where they can actually hear sounds instead of a muffled noise," said Saundy Hutto, of Speedway Children's Charities.

As Baker moved from station to station, her hearing improved with the donated device.

"Better than without them, so I can actually hear more than without my hearing aids in," she told multiple news crews Monday.

Racing legend Richard Petty helped some people fit their new devices. He even took out his own hearing aids to show that he understood their plight, as someone who also suffers from severe hearing loss.

I think this is the correct link:

The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation in Brisbane.

The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation works wonders for sick kids by investing in ground breaking research to find faster diagnoses, better treatments, and ultimately cures.

Some monkeys may prefer to donate within their own country.  This collection point is also another way to support other children in need as well as the local LE who have done such a great job searching for Zahra.

Police officers collect toys for Christmas Wish House

For more than 20 years, the Hickory Police Department has held a "Cops for Tots" toy drive for its annual Christmas Wish House.  In mid-December each year, the Christmas Wish House is open to parents or guardians of children in need to select holiday gifts for their children.

Donation boxes will be located in numerous businesses by early November for the collection of new or slightly used toys.  The main donation box is located in the lobby of the Floyd W. Lucas, Jr. Police Headquarters.  Monetary donations can be made out to "Cops for Tots" and mailed to Cops for Tots, Hickory Police Department, 347 2nd Avenue, SW, Hickory, NC  28602.  Monetary donations are used strictly for the purchase of toys to put in the Wish House.

"Although a lot of toys are collected, there never seems to be enough and we are thankful to receive funds to purchase additional items," said Libby Grigg who started the program at the Hickory Police Department.
