Nothing would make me happier. This mock memeorial which is their attempt at image repair and control disgusts me. For them to "celebrate Her Life" is  a pile o poo. Her life while here in the States was a living hell, the man who was in charge of her well being simply abandoned her to an abuser and the circle of "new family" is about as low as one can get. They ought to be quietly mourning her instead of trying to recreate the town's ceremony to honor her. They really make me sick. Justice for Zahra

Police hope tests will provide answers in Zahra Baker case

HICKORY, N.C. – It has been seven weeks since 10-year-old Zahra Baker was first reported missing, and although evidence that confirms she is dead has been found, police haven’t announced exactly what happened to her.

There is a single red rose on the door of the house where she lived. The house itself has been vandalized, a memorial to the 10-year-old that sat in front of the house is gone and a tree that was the center of the memorial has been cut down.

No one has been charged with the 10-year-old’s death. However, police are hoping to learn more about what happened to her later this week. Tests on the remains that were found in what appeared to be a shallow grave off of Dudley Shoals Road are expected back this week.

Police said the remains were consistent what those of a child, but could not say for certain that they were Zahra’s.

Search warrants used by police to search the home and yard where Zahra’s father and stepmother, Adam and Elisa Baker, lived have remained sealed. On Monday, prosecutors filed a request to keep the warrants secret. Investigators say revealing the contents would jeopardize any case they hope to make.

Adam Baker has made arrangements for a Thursday memorial service for Zahra at Drum Funeral Home. A burial service hasn’t been planned since the one bone that has been identified as Zahra’s is part of the evidence in the case.

Elisa Baker, who was charged with obstruction of justice in connection with Zahra’s disappearance remains at the Catawba County Jail. When Adam Baker wrote Zahra’s obituary he named several relatives but omitted Elisa Baker’s name.

Search warrants in Zahra Baker case to be released

CHARLOTTE -- Search warrants in the Zahra Baker case may be released Tuesday. They were initially sealed for the investigation but could be made public, according to attorneys representing News 14 Carolina and other media outlets.

The documents were sealed for 30 days, which expired monday. But the Hickory Police Department requested an extension to seal the warrants until its investigation is complete.

Meanwhile, the Baker family scheduled a memorial service for Thursday night for Zahra. The 10-year-old was reported missing Oct. 9. Police recovered a bone and the gel cover to her prosthetic leg.

No one has been charged in her death.

Took a break from this for a while.....  was really getting me down.  I see nothing new really.  I was hoping to come back and see AB had been arrested.  My fear is they won't find the evidence they need to lock him up.

He's been reportedly playing on IMVU all  while which tells me that the blood and gore and thoughts of her being dismembered are nothing to worry with . He and his mother (who acts exactly like CA) never talk about that final act of indignity, most non guilty people would be devestated, not them. She spends her time on FB defending him, not being outraged about Zahra, something's not right. I think he'll go down for this.  Maybe his gothbride really was telling the truth in her letters, self serving yes, but maybe a lot of truth in there.

Mommy Baker may have had advance knowledge of when Zahra was "missing". According to one of her rants on FB  she claimed she couldn't or wouldn't talk to Zahra's mother because that was the day she found out about Z being missing but that seems to be an earlier date than the fire/"abduction".....all loose gab with no links but....curious nontheless.

Search warrants in the investigation into Zahra Baker’s disappearance and death have been made public. Eyewitness News reporter Dave Faherty is going through the documents, which are hundreds of pages long, now.

The District Attorney’s Office filed a motion Monday to keep the documents from becoming public just as they were about to be unsealed. Unsealing the warrants would undermine or jeopardize the state’s right to prosecute a defendant, the motion claimed.

Despite that, the documents were unsealed Tuesday.

There are a total of 11 search warrants in the case. Several are related to searches done at the Bakers’ Hickory home, which was left with holes in the walls, floors and ceilings after investigators scoured it for evidence. Other warrants involved information from the Facebook and MySpace accounts of Zahra Baker’s stepmother, Elisa Baker.

Ten-year-old Zahra Baker's body was dismembered and her remains concealed in a bed comforter and car cover, then discarded in a Dumpster behind a Hudson grocery store, according to court documents released this afternoon.

The records don't reveal how the girl died but detail for the first time Elisa Baker's account of what was done with her stepdaughter Zahra's body.

Judge Nathaniel Poovey ordered that the previously-sealed documents be released this afternoon.

The documents also show:

-- Elisa Baker's attorney, Lisa Dubs, told an investigator that latex gloves were used while Zahra's body was dismembered. Dubs also said investigators might find remains in the bathtub drain.

-- Through her attorney, Elisa Baker said she and her husband Adam Baker -- Zahra's father -- dumped a mattress and box springs at a trash dump in Granite Falls.

-- Elisa Baker directed investigators to the Fox Ridge apartments in Hickory. Through her attorney, she admitted that she and Adam Baker wrapped Zahra's prosthetic leg in a white trash bag and threw it in the apartment Dumpster.

-- On Oct. 10, a dog trained in recovery of bodies gave a positive alert for the presence of human remains in or on two vehicles described by police as belonging to the family.
