What happened to Natalee Holloway?

An Alabama teenager goes missing on a school trip to Aruba. She is last seen leaving a popular nightclub with three local boys who provide conflicting stories about what happened next. Within twenty-four hours, her family is on the island, putting pressure on the boys, their parents and local police for answers. And Greta Van Susteren and FOX News are with them.

We’ve been investigating from the beginning. Join FOX News as we put together all that we’ve learned. The missed opportunities, false leads and outright lies that have plagued this investigation from the beginning are revealed in a one-hour, “Crime Scene” special. Joran Van Der Sloot, still the prime suspect, gives his version of his last moments with Natalee. It’s an account that has never been corroborated by anyone else.

Everyone has seen bits and pieces of this story. When you put them all together, they form a picture of what might have been the perfect crime.

In her list fo the "Ten Most Fascinating People of 2005," ABC broadcaster Barbara Walters included Condi Rice, Lance Armstrong, Tom Cruise, child film star Dakota Fanning, Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall and a former high school teacher from Alabama: Beth Holloway Twitty. Twitty never wished to make such a list. She was devoted to her family and her students, but her life changed irrevocably on May 30, 2005 when her daughter, Natalee Holloway, was reported missing on the island of Aruba where she'd traveled with her high school graduation class. With an outpouring of support from the community and the entire country, Twitty has led a highly publicized vigil to find her daughter and obtain answers about what has happened to her. Still clinging to hope and educating parents on the importance of safe travel, she will speak at Peerless Road Church next to Cleveland High School on November 14.

While Natalee remains missing and questions surrounding her disappearance are still unanswered, one might expect to find Beth Twitty losing hope. Instead, you find a woman whose demeanor is positive, her commitment to finding her daughter strong, and her trust in God phenomenal. "It is easy to give into pain and let go of all hope, but I am receiving blessed assurance and the hope and comfort that only my God  could give. I could not maintain hope without my faith in God and the support of the community - that is how we have been able to endure."

Following the first few days of Natalee's disappearance, Twitty acknowledges she found herself in a desperate state of mind. She remembers, "People asked me, 'How do you feel?' and I did not feel anything. For 118 hours I had no food, no sleep and did not bathe." By the fifth morning  of the search at about 5:00 a.m., Twitty searched for a place to pray. "I had been praying every minute, but I felt I needed to pray harder, pray louder," Twitty explains. She decided to hail a cab and asked the driver to "take her somewhere."

Twitty says she believes God's hand guided her that morning to a place of comfort. The cab driver took her to an isolated area of the island where a chapel sits on a hillside overlooking the sea. Leading up to the chapel are 14 white crosses that Twitty later learned were stations of the Cross, representing Christ's journey to the cross and grave. "I really was not sure what I was doing when I came to the first cross, but the cab driver simply asked me to get out and make my way to the chapel." Twitty proceeded to kneel and pray at each cross. "I begged God to give Natalee back. I repeated this same plea at every cross," recalls Twitty. "at the sixth cross, the answer came to me - a complete overwhelming peace. In an instant, I knew Natalee was with God. I knew that God had wrapped his arms around her. I knew that she believed in God and I was reminded of her faith." It was then Twitty says God gave her clear direction. "I realized that the burden of caring and providing for Natalee was not up to me - that she was in God's care. I could become focused on what I could do physically to help Natalee. I could meet with officials, follow the leads in the investigatioin, take care of myself, and take care of all the things necessary to find a resolution."

After praying at the last cross, Twitty entered the chapel and continued to pray. The chapel became a place of refuge during her four month stay in aruba last summer. "I found solace in that chapel every morning and every evening. It was a place I could go and feel comfort. That is where I found my hope."

With this hope, Twitty says she has been able to accomplish tasks she never thought possible such as facing the barrage of media regarding her missing daughter. Overnight this distraught mother became a national spokesperson. Twitty says the press interviews were something she did not and does not do herself. "I can't do interviews. I'm a public school teacher and have been for 22 years. I'm a pediatric speech pathologist. After an interview, my husband Jug would always say, 'God has to be speaking through you Beth.'"

Twitty says since her daughter's disappearance God has given her many opportunities to reach out to help others. While still in Aruba in the summer of 2005, Twitty visited all the public schools on the island and shared Hope for Natalee bracelets with the children. She showed them how to make the bracelets of three strands, representative of the scripture verse, Ecclesiastes 4:12. "The young children were paying attention to the news and were aware of what was happening with Natalee, and because I had taught school for so long I was a little concerned about their reaction. I wanted them to know there is hope annd faith."

Twitty also seeks to share hope with other parents of missing children. "It is most important for the parent to have their hope and faith in God, believing in and trusting in Him. You have to trust God to begin to take care of yourself. You will be of no help to your loved one if you don't take care of yourself and trust in God."

Today Twitty continues to look for answers regarding her daughter's disappearance but also takes time to tell young people what she has learned from the tragedy. through her non-profit International Safe Travels Foundation, Twitty shares with youth the challenges that they could face while traveling abroad and how to travel more safely. "I always said if I could ever give something back to the tens of thousands of people who supported me by reaching their sons and daughters I would, and I am at that point where I am hopefully doing that." Twitty has already spoken to about 10,000 senior high school students in 10 states and plans to visit every state. Her visits are coordinated by the National Sherriff's Association, which endorses her safe travel message. "I feel like I am really back in the classroom. It's just a little bit different because now I'm reaching out to young adults."

Twitty admits there are days when she does not have as much hope as others, but it is in those times that she is inspired by the faith of her husband and her son Matt. She clings to scriptures of hope like Romans 5:3 and remembers how far God has brought her since she called out to Him on a windy hillside in Aruba. "In our most trying times, our most desperate hours, we must keep hope alive," stresses Twitty. "Faith brought me here today and faith will get me through tomorrow."
