So many outrageous things have happened in the past couple of years that to try to explain them all would consume a thousand pages.  It would be Gone with the Aruban Wind.  And I know this account probably raises as many questions as it answers, and sounds more like a novel than a true story.  But it all really happened.  To my daughter.  To my family.  And to me.  That’s why I’m glad others have been present all along this journey to witness the events.  Because they were so incredibly bizarre.

In the end we do finally receive vindication that we have been on the right track all along.  After I travel to Holland in 2006 to appear on the popular local Robert Jensen Show, the highly respected Dutch investigative reporter Peter de Vries takes an interest in Natalee’s case and calls me.  His TV crime show in Holland is the equivalent of America’s Most Wanted.  Peter and his team discover and broadcast startling revelations from their own investigation into Natalee’s case that we had not heard before.  In a television special that airs in Holland, they report findings that absolutely justify the suspicions we have had all along.

First, they discover that a secret meeting took place between Joran’s lawyer and the prosecutor in which the lawyer told her that he knows his client played a major role in Natalee’s disappearance.   Joran’s lawyer told the prosecutor this to “clear his conscience,” but also told her it was up to her and the police to “get the full proof for this.”  Next, Peter de Vries reports that Joran almost confessed on June 18, 2005, when a detective called him a “devil.”  The report say that Joran “lost it” and stated:  “I know what you guys think.  You think I had sex with Natalee, and that I called my father, and that my father came, and that we hid the body.”  Peter de Vries reports that he is very suspicious of this statement because of the role of Joran’s father, Paulus, had not yet been discussed.  Further, the TV report states that Joran said out of the blue, “I don’t know where she is buried.”  Again, this subject had not yet been introduced.

The most damning conclusive evidence discovered by this investigative team concerns the search warrant issued for the van der Sloot residence following Joran’s arrest.  We have always been very distressed that the police could not get into the van der Sloot house in a timely manner.  When a search warrant was finally issued ten days after Natalee disappeared, the island police were prepared to go into the home.  But according to this report by Peter de Vries, they arrived only to be greeted at the door by a high-ranking official of the prosecutor’s office named Ben King, a personal friend of the van der Sloots.  So there was no element of surprise.  The van der Sloots were more than ready for the police to come.  In addition, we learn that the warrant carried by the police did indeed call for the entire premises to be searched including the house, the gardens, and all the buildings of the property.  But it was reduced on the spot by another high-ranking employee of the justice office.  Judge commissioner Bob Wit reportedly changed the warrant so that only Joran’s apartment could be searched.  Peter de Vries said that this was extremely frustrating to the Aruban police, because they had clues that something might have happened to Natalee in the main house or garden area.  But they couldn’t search there.

The Peter de Vries report concludes that the Aruban police believe that the three suspects never took Natalee to the beach.  They believe she met her fate at the van der Sloot home, and that Joran called his father  - or someone – and that they disposed of her body.  That’s what we think may have happened.  And there’s nothing the police or anyone can do about it, because evil was always two steps ahead.  It beat us to the search warrant, and it appeared before we did in the headmaster’s office at the International School to explain what happened between Joran and Natalee, and that hotel security cameras weren’t working.  I knew from the moment I gave my statement at the Bubali police station and saw that torn document with Joran van der Sloot’s name on it that we were up against way more than we bargained for.

We never stood a chance to get justice for Natalee.

I agree.  I think the facebook pic is definitely Ben King.  I've found pics of him with his sons too.

But I'm not convinced yet that it's not him with shorter hair in those other pics also. 

These pictures come to mind also.  They were discussed at one time too.  I'm thinking we may have decided he was a lawyer?  Maybe Buckeye remembers?  It's been a while ago that we discussed it.
