DA seeks tougher bond restrictions for Adam Baker

 ::snipping2::

Immigration authorities are monitoring Baker's whereabouts with the aid of an ankle-monitoring device.

Under federal monitoring, Baker is not allowed to leave the state without permission.

The District Attorney wants his office to be notified in writing if Baker receives permission from federal authorities to leave North Carolina.

Officials also say they are reviewing his bond amount and they may ask for even more travel restrictions.

The DA asked a judge to make the changes on Wednesday, April 27, but the judge delayed taking any action until a hearing which is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4.

I do not recall anything official about this.  I have no doubt that Ma Baker is not only hanging around to fatten up  support her spawn, but also ensure she gets possession of Zahra's remains.  JMO

Just put him in a cage. NOT a jail cage or cell either.
A cage, like a zoo cage. Leave his butt
there indefinetly until he talks, and NO food, only water !
I approve of water boarding for his pathetic soul also.

I am a peace loving person, but this is dragging out way too long
to suit me, and time for accountability here folks.

NEWTON --
Check charges against Adam Baker dropped

Adam Baker no longer faces worthless-check charges in Catawba County.

The charges were dismissed Friday. Baker's attorney, Mark Killian, says the Australian native has made restitution.

Baker was accused of writing bad checks for around $240 to grocery stores. He faces other charges, including felony identity theft.

Some charges against Adam Baker dropped

A District Court judge in Catawba County dropped worthless check charges against Adam Baker on Friday.

Judge Amy Sigmon dismissed the charges after nobody from the prosecution showed up in court. Baker, the father of slain 10-year-old Zahra Baker, had been charged with writing worthless checks to grocery stores, totaling about $240.

Baker's attorney said in recent days that his client has made restitution in the case.

Adam Baker still faces charges of felony identity theft and obtaining property by false pretense. Those charges stem from when he and his wife, Elisa, moved with Zahra to Hickory last year and applied for electrical service at their house.

Looks like this porker has the luck of the Irish for some reason.
I hope no other charges are dropped and murder charges are added.

Seems they were dropped because he made restitution for the checks.

Next court date, Wed., May 4.

LENOIR --
Elisa Baker pleaded not guilty in her arraignment hearing for four felony charges in Caldwell County Wednesday afternoon.

Baker, 42, was in court for two counts each of felony identity theft and felony obtaining property by false pretenses. She is accused of using her daughter’s information to obtain phone and communication information from CenturyLink at a Hudson residence, as well as that same daughter’s information to get services from Duke Energy.

 ::snipping2::

Prosecutor Eric Bellas handed the discovery containing 114 pages of evidence on a CD to defense attorney Scott Reilly in court.

Judge Beverly Beal inquired whether a plea had been offered by the district attorney’s office.

“There has been no plea offer, there will not be a plea offer extended,” Bellas said.
The next administrative court date will be July 11.

NEWTON --
If Adam Baker wants to leave North Carolina, he must give advance notice to the district attorney’s office.

Baker was in Catawba County Superior Court Wednesday for a pre-trial release hearing. The district attorney’s office sought to have additional restrictions placed on Baker that are similar to what the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) already has in place.

However, the district attorney’s office wanted more stringent restrictions, seeking to have Baker’s travel limited to Burke, Caldwell and Catawba counties.

Zahra Baker's stepmother Elise Baker put bullet-proof vest for court appearance

    From: AAP
    May 05, 2011 12:54PM

ZAHRA Baker's stepmother wore a bulletproof vest and was guarded by police armed with assault rifles as she appeared in a North Carolina court.

Elisa Baker, who is charged with the murder and dismemberment of her 10-year-old Australian stepdaughter, had her arms and legs shackled and was guarded by a large police contingent, including two SWAT officers, as she was led into and out of Caldwell County courthouse.

Police took no chances with security as Baker, 42, entered not guilty pleas to two counts each of felony identity theft and felony obtaining property by false pretences.

Elisa Baker and Zahra's biological father, Adam Baker, made separate court appearances yesterday, local time, for charges unrelated to Zahra's death.

Elisa and Adam Baker have both faced death threats since Zahra was first reported missing from their home in Hickory, North Carolina, on October 9 last year.
