Zahra Baker's stepmom due in Catawba Co. court Tuesday

NEWTON, NC (WBTV)  - The step-mother of Zahra Baker, who was killed sometime last year, was rescheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

The hearings in Catawba County Superior Court, which were originally scheduled for Monday morning, will give defense attorneys a chance to present motions in the case against Elisa Baker, who is charged in the death of the young girl.

http://www.news.com.au/world/stepmum-told-cops-zahra-died-in-september/story-e6frfkyi-1225982270159#ixzz1ACb5imzt

A stack of search warrants released today by a judge in North Carolina also show that Zahra's stepmother, Elisa Baker, confessed to police that Zahra had died more than two weeks before she and her husband reported her missing.

Aside from the MANY charges that should be filed against these sick and evil people, this just shows me how important something like Caylee's Law is. How is it that we don't already have something like this on the books?!

I haven't read/posted in this thread for quite some time (til now), but this is yet another tragic case. I've had this forum thread bookmarked to come back to, to see what is going on.

Just saw this today:

http://www2.hickoryrecord.com/news/2011/jul/07/unanswered-questions-remain-deaths-zahra-caylee-ar-1188628/

Unanswered questions remain in the deaths of Zahra, Caylee

How Caylee actually died is one of the many questions that was never adequately answered during the trial.

It is one of the questions that still lingers about 10-year-old Zahra, as well.

Like Caylee, Zahra was found discarded in the woods. Only she was strewn between two locations in Caldwell County, and in several pieces. Parts of her are still missing, including her head. When investigators found Zahra in the fall of 2010, it was only her skeletal remains.

The autopsy was not able to confirm how Zahra actually died. It only states “undetermined homicidal violence.” It also states that she was last known to be alive on Sept. 24, 2010.

 ::snipping2::

Elisa, now 43, is who told investigators that Zahra died on Sept. 24, her body disposed of the following day. Police were not notified of her possible disappearance until Oct. 9 when her father, Adam Baker, called 911 to report her missing. Like in Caylee’s disappearance, there is a large window of opportunity for when and how these two girls may have actually died.

Zahra’s Father Says He Wants Justice For Her

 ::snipping2::

Adam Baker, who was in court Monday morning on charges unrelated to the investigation into Zahra’s death, said he wants to make sure Elisa Baker “gets what she deserves.”

He said it was difficult to describe what he’s been through over the past 10 months.

Adam Baker wants Elisa to “Get what she deserves”
 ::snipping2::
Baker said he thinks about his daughter every day and has visited a memorial that is under construction on Christie Road in Caldwell county where some of Zahra's remains were found.

"I go there all the time," he said.

 ::snipping2::

He said on Monday that he still is surprised by all the revelations that keep coming out about her.

"I'm surprised all the time," he said.

Adam said the recent indictments of Elisa on drug charges was another case of that. Baker said he knew nothing about the alleged drug deals that federal authorities have charges Elisa with.

He said he knew she was taking prescription pain killers, but never saw anything that indicated she was selling them.

 ::snipping2::
Baker said he hopes to get the charges and immigration matters settled soon.

All Baker wants to do now, he says, is "Get this all behind me, and take Zahra back to Australia and finally put her to rest."

Adam Baker: 'I want to make sure she gets what she deserves'
He wants to see justic done, take Zahra back to Australia for burial

 ::snipping2::

Baker has been charged with two felonies: identity theft and obtaining property by false pretenses. The charges are related to Baker getting electricity from Duke Energy at his home on 21st Ave., NW in Hickory in the name of James Starbuck, said Maj. Clyde Deal of the Hickory Police Department.

Baker arrived about an hour before the courtroom doors were unlocked. He was alone. He said his mother had flown back to his native Australia.

Just before the Superior Court session was to begin, a member of the District Attorney’s office told Baker his hearing had been rescheduled for today [Tuesday].

So EvilE wants her trial moved?  Go ahead see if you cant' bring it to FL and get off scott free!  I'm so ashamed of the jury in my home state of FL!!!  Sorry EvilE but I don't think with your admitted participation you'll be getting out of jail before you die!  Doesn't really matter what part of NC you move it to.  Then again, I've kinda lost faith in some things!

Zahra Baker's stepmother Elisa Baker wants trial moved

    From: NewsCore
    July 13, 2011 4:25PM

THE woman accused of murdering Zahra Baker has filed a motion to have her trial moved, asserting that Catawba County was "infected" with prejudice.

Two-time cancer survivor Zahra was reported missing from her home on October 9 last year, but authorities believe she had been killed 15 days earlier. Her stepmother Elisa Baker, 42, also known as Elise Young, was charged with murdering and dismembering the ten-year-old.

In seeking the change of venue, defense attorney Scott Reilly argued that Elisa Baker cannot get a fair and impartial trial in the county, The Charlotte ******* reported.

Adam Baker makes me sick!  He is as guilty as his psycho wife.  That call to 911 sickened me.  At what point in America will we start holding parents responsible for their job, parenting?   Children are still viewed as property not a responsibility.  Things need to change in our country, I have no reasonable doubt about that!
