The tiger is the official mascot of auburn.  "War Eagle" is the battle cry of Auburn.  there are several theories or legends of how this came to be.  However, there is not a tiger on the sideline but there is an eagle on the sideline t home games.

If you have never seen the eagle fly, it is really cool.  He is let go at the top of the stadium andhe cirlces the field and comes to to mid filed to receive a "treat".  Auburn has a veterinary school and a raptor center - so the eagles are part of vet school, if you will.

Thanks for the explanation. My Vet is a grad of Auburn and couldn't explain it to me. I thought maybe double names was an Alabama "thing".

To all my "freezing" Monkeys...this recipe is to die for if you like Potato Soup.  I make it often and everyone asks for the recipe.  Give it a try and ENJOY!

Chunky Potato Soup
Prep time: 35 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Servings: 12

Ingredients

3 medium red potatoes
2 cups water
1 small onion
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Crushed red pepper flakes
Ground black pepper
3 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup cubed cooked ham

Directions
1. Peel potatoes and cut into 1-inch cubes.

2. Bring water to a boil in large saucepan. Add potatoes and cook until tender. Drain, reserving liquid. Set aside potatoes. Measure 1 cup cooking liquid, adding water, if necessary; set aside.

3. Peel and finely chop onion. Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add onion to saucepan; cook, stirring frequently, until onion is translucent and tender, but not brown.

4. Add flour to saucepan; season with pepper flakes and black pepper to taste. Cook 3 to 4 minutes.

5. Gradually add potatoes, reserved 1 cup cooking liquid, milk and sugar to onion mixture in saucepan; stir well. Add cheese and ham. Simmer over low heat 30 minutes, stirring frequently.

Store leftovers, covered, in refrigerator.

---------------

My notes:  I double this recipe and add celery to the potatoes while they boil and add garlic to the butter and onions.  I also triple the amount of cheese.

It is sooooo good!

HI!!

Oh, Monkeys, what a wonderful day!!
Just now home from Champaign.  We celebrated youngest's brand spankin' new Master's Degree.  His church threw the party.  Lots of family and  friends (old and new).
It was such a happy day.   I came home with grandchildren hugs to last till next time and memories to warm my heart.
There was such kindness and support and genuine love in the hall that you could just feel it.
Everyone brought delicious food and there was a big bounce house (yes, inside!!) and the children were having so much fun!  There were quiet areas set up for visiting and everything was perfect.   Just perfect.
What a gift today was.  A pure gift.
I am happily exhausted.

Hi, Cookie!
I quit buying those expensive snow boots for PJ.  I make them, now.... from balloons!!  Just cut the neck at the point where they fit over his feet and aren't too tight, but will stay on.  Takes a couple trial runs.
They are perfect.  NO salt problems, NO cold feet, and good traction.  He is great about wearing them and even holds his feet out for me to put them on him!!
BTW, did you eat at Stone Eagle?
